Klein Tools VDV500-820 Cable Tracer with Probe Tone Pro Kit for Telephone, Internet, Video, Data and Communications Cables

The device works but with a flaw. I had a real hard time tracing CAT for it picks up electrical creating a nasty static that drowns out the devices signal generator. Its will be unusable is some applications. If I had to do this again I would have spent more on the Fluke product for we have that at work & that does a far better job of tracing CAT without any static & noise.

This two piece tool is of very good quality. I am impressed with the over all function and materials involved with its construction. It works very well, was delivered in very acceptable time, and Im satisfied with the cost. Ill be looking for other tools from this seller.

Worked great

Its cool looking and has lots of bells and whistles, but for RJ45, especially in a bundle. FORGET IT. Dont get it.

We bought this at my workplace and have found it mostly useless. Ive always had great luck with Klein, but this tool is definitely not worth the money. Even on a short test cable, you can just barely hear the tone coming from the wand. Used it a few days ago trying to locate a cable in a closet and never could determine where the cable was due to this unit simply not putting out a strong tone. I would definitely not recommend purchasing this unit.

This works well. I was able to trace the wire I was looking for through the wall. 1/2 drywall

Well I got the Toner and Probe kit and it says right in the headline that its for RJ11 and RJ45 wires. It only has an RJ-11 connector. You can read in the comments that people are making modifications to get it to work with ethernet. I returned it and got a Fluke. Partly my fault for not reading all the reviews, but dang it sure misleads you to believe that this is for RJ45. It might work for that, likely depends on your situation. I wanted something that will definitely work though.

Did not come with instruction manual. Poorly packaged
