> 3 dayI was in the worlds worst hunt trying to figure out where some network rack ethernet cabling routed through a building. Tried the two wire RJ45 plug that is on the unit and could barely hear a peep. Decided to make an adapter and twisted together all 8 wires to a ring terminal and fashioned the key to success! It worked so well I was able to pinpoint approximately 200ft away where it ran through both metal sided walls and sheetrock walls. Life saver! I just wish they had included a full 8 wire RJ45.

> 3 dayYou simply cannot go wrong with Klein Tools. I have almost everything Klein so I may be biased a bit but I do not need to talk up this product for it to be a quality one. Accurate readings, multiple tone frequencies and great range on the wand has saved me many a headache in someone’s attic trying to trace a wire that, yes, was underneath some spray foam insulation that ran the entire length of the house. This is a must have for my tool kit.

> 3 dayReally impressed with this device. I have never used one before, and didnt even know they existed until watching a few YouTube videos on how to trace wires (no voltage). The device kept telling me things about the dead wire that I didnt believe, yet it was correct in the end, and saved me serious money by not having to call an electrician/contractor to find out why a set of wall outlets had stopped working. Have an issue with a hidden GFCI outlet, or blown fuse/bad connection somewhere? Get one of these to find it.

Greater than one weekOh wow! Paid for itself in first use! What may have taken countless hours of chasing an open in an AC circuit took 2 minutes. How did I live this long without this!

> 3 dayI originally bought this to trace a short in a wiring harness. That project still hasnt gotten off the ground (the short is intermittent and has decided to go away for a while) so this tracer has been in my toolbox for months.

25-04-2025So this worked perfectly fine through insulation and drywall. I had a jbox in my garage and couldn’t figure out where it went. Had no power to the wiring but wanted to figure out if it was connected to anything else or maybe a random switch. Found the end of the wire clipped off near the panel in a few minutes. Mystery solved. 120v circuit. Pretty easy to trace through the wall and follow it’s path.

> 3 dayIts cool looking and has lots of bells and whistles, but for RJ45, especially in a bundle. FORGET IT. Dont get it.
