If using jack you will never find your cable. The tone produced is quiet and continuous but can only be heard when you’re within 2 inches of the pack making the tone.

Great value for the price and great tool to find the problem if you know how to work it.

I am not remotely an electrician and was able to trace out wiring in an old farm house with no problem. I did find a useful video on youtube that allowed me to use this tracer more competently.

It works good. Fluke is better at precise pinpointing. I had the power turned on once well my tracer was hooked up, ever since it doesn’t work, exactly right. It will pick up other wires that have power on them. Other than that it’s OK.
