Doesnt work well at all an tracing AC romex behind drywal works well on a cord not sure about phone cable but I dont need it for that...wish it worked on drywall so I am returning it sorry to say.

Get it! Buy it! I bought this and I was a little unsure because my colleagues in IT typically purchase Fluke. I don’t have money for that! I purchased this and popped my headphones in and Wow! It picked up The tone immediately.

This is a really easy unit to use and offers some helpful features such as continuity testing. Even though Klein royally pissed me off moving production to Mexico and lowering the quality of all their hand tools, this is decent.

I originally bought this to trace a short in a wiring harness. That project still hasnt gotten off the ground (the short is intermittent and has decided to go away for a while) so this tracer has been in my toolbox for months.

The quality feels good. I needed to trace a power wire through a drywall as I had no idea where it went, but I knew where it started. I was able to trace the wire by moving the tracer around the drywall. The sound was fainter than I expected from outside the wall, but once I got used to hearing the differences in the tone it was quite effective. My wire ended up being about 10 metres long when I found the end.

Good value for the price. Nice solid tone on long runs.
