> 3 dayWorks good but toner probe has a problem detecting signal after about 100 feet . It’s the wand itself. I used my fluke wand on the Klein signal generator and works much better.

> 3 dayThe speaker is very loud. The probe will pick up tone from a couple of feet away then be blaring when you touch the copper of the cable. It will pick up some cross talk so make sure youre hitting the copper. Ive use it daily on both shielded and unshielded with no issues. Works with previous models and other tone gerators. If you need a new tip its less than $10 on home depots website. Replacement Tip for Probe-Pro Tracing Probe Model #VDV999-068. My only wish is that the probe had a lock button or a push for tone button rather than always on.

> 3 dayInstructions not clear, but it’s a great product for tracing wires. It is great with 120volt wires, but make sure power is off to circuit. It is confusing because it says only use on 60volt and under and 20 volt and under for energized wires.

23-04-2025Klein Tools are generally of good quality and do what they are supposed to do. Not so with this cable tracer. It was dead on arrival. The OEM batteries provided did not work. One battery in the probe was dead (.5 Vdc) while the batteries in the signal generator died after 10 minutes of use. Even with fresh batteries, the signal could not be found at distances of over 20 feet from the signal generator. Dont waste your money.

> 3 dayReceived it early, it was packaged well, and it does everything it is supposed to do. Used it to track down kitchen wiring and it toned out all of the lines w/o any problems. Thank you!

> 3 dayThis helped me find the issue in minutes, easy to use and works great. Didn’t have to hire an electrician

> 3 dayThe toner is fine, however the speaker on the wand is incredibly weak. Even with the volume turned all the way up, you gotta have the wand physically touching the wire to get tone. And anyone who has toned cables knows how unhelpful that is when try to locate wire in bundles or on a rack full of patch panels.

> 3 dayNice product but maybe I was over expecting a better way to test wires.

> 3 dayIt emits a radio signal which wants to travel through the wire youre chasing, but will bleed over into other wires in the same bundle so watch for that. You can listen for the strength of the signal from each wire in the bundle and determine which one you are connected to on the other end. Just be aware of this and youll enjoy the tool.
