Not the greatest monitor I’ve ever owned but not bad for the price. Only gripes: 1. The arching stand is atheistically pleasing but functionally ridiculous. Takes up a great deal of real estate on the desk and does not seem as stable as a more traditional monitor stand. 2. Why on earth would anyone send the manual on CD in the year 2023? Either print out a one pager on how to navigate the menu system or give us a QR code to find it on your website. I just want to plug and play, not go through a wild goose chase to find out how to use all the features I paid for.

Per se, its a good monitor. Decent picture quality, very high resolution, sharp image (its 4K after all), easy to mount and set up. Huge panel with a lot of real estate which is always welcome. If you dont compare it with anything else, you will be quite happy with the monitor. BUT: I was expecting it to replicate the LG ultrafine sold on Apples website for me. I already have one of those monitors in my office and was hoping to have the same experience at my home office too. Same manufacturer, apparently same technology, similar specs, good to go, right? But its where the disappointment began. The image quality, the sharpness, the brightness, and the color delivery come nowhere near like that. Even the build quality is inferior: The plastic frame, cables, stand, everything feels less premium. I have no idea if theres any fundamental technological difference between the two panels, or its mostly a matter of firmware/software, but Id go for that Apple-overpriced ultrafine LG panel any day. MACBOOK PRO USERS BEWARE: This monitor has problems with MacOSs HDR. Right off the bat, its activated, shocking you by a pinkish downright garbage image quality once you turn on the monitor and connect it to your Mac. Either Apple or LGs fault, youll need to disable it to get a decent image profile. Thats all I came across through my hours of googling to fix it. (What? I didnt buy a half-a-grand HDR monitor only to disable it!!) VERDICT: Quite disappointed since I expected more based on reviews etc. Still debating between returning it - as much as I hate returning stuff due to the environmental impacts etc - and going for an LG ultrafine from Apple, or keeping it and trying to be happy with it. UPDATE (1 month later): Decided to keep it and give it time so it has a chance of growing on me. Im now quite used to the image quality. No big complaints anymore. The HDR problem with MacBook is still there, even after MacOS 11.4 update. No big deal though as long as you keep it off.

it darkens and dims, after a few minutes, so I decided to keep, tried to get partial refund but its impossible to get in contact with support, and I didnt want to return it. Seems like a problem with these screens, maybe not a common problem and I got a bad one

I have had this monitor for 2 years, love it for using a laptop and working on a larger screen. The USB-C to USB-C cable needs replacing, sometimes it works and powers the computer and sometimes it does not power? It connects to the monitor for a picture but not power? I cannot find the appropriate cable to replace? If I plug in a USBC- to USB-C it does not connect to a picture?

Works really good using USB-C direct from MacBook Air. Screen quality looks almost as good as my iMac Retina 5K. The size of macOS menu items at top and and dock icons on bottom and screen work-area area -- all were as expected and as appear on my iMAC. On HP monitor I bought first and am not returning all these were totally distorted. I read this monitor works well with MACs and it sure does. Monitor controls work via little joystick which is really slick. Screen hight and tilt operate very nicely also. Good quality USB-C cable included. Super beefy AC adaptor also which I guess is good? Excellent for MACs!

I like the size & look. Picture quality is not that great.

I researched several monitors to pair with my new M2 Mac Mini and chose this one. Very happy with it just as it came out of the box. Disclosure: Ive not tried tweaking the picture at all. There is a comprehensive manual that I have merely glanced at. Just out of the box this is simply great.

It is required that you use the supplied LG cable, that delivers video and power via USB-C. However, about half the time, the power is not delivered. If that goes unnoticed, you run out of power. To fix, you have to unplug and replug or wiggle the connection to get power. Not a big deal, but annoying given its frequency. This is not a single machine problem. We have 4 of these monitors for different people in the office, all of them have the same problem. Clearly a design issue with the cable.

EDIT: There is On-Screen control for Mac users on newer models its just that LG kind of dropped the ball on making it easy for Mac users to find and install it. On LG.com go to Support, then Software & Drivers. Don’t use the search field they provide because for many model numbers it will say there is no matching product. Scroll down, click on monitors and search for your model manually. If your model doesn’t have a Mac download try the next closest monitor to your model. Also, worth pointing out is that 27UN850-W is the newest model and 27UL850-W is the previous model. They are both practically the same with very minor spec differences but the newest one is currently cheaper by almost $100. ---------- Heads up, their advertised On-Screen Control including Screen Split is not available to MacBook users with this monitor. In fact basically only ONE model is supported! And apparently according to other user reviews that one doesnt even have the basic functionality advertised. So just keep that in mind when purchasing an LG monitor if you are a Mac user. With that said, if that is not a deal breaker for you this is still an excellent monitor.

Upgrade to an LG UltraFine IPS 4K screen, delivering ultra HD resolution with supremely accurate colors, even when viewed off-angle. The 27-inch display offers versatility of USB Type C connectivity (60 Watt power delivery) plus the benefits of HDCP 2.2 compatibility, so it will seamlessly display 4K content from a variety of sources. Experience smooth gameplay with AMD FreeSync (used with supported video cards), virtually eliminating screen tearing and stuttering that occur as a result of the difference between a graphics card"s frame rate and monitor"s refresh rate. Dynamic Action Sync reduces input lag and elevates your gameplay, allowing you to respond to your opponents quickly. Keep visibility even in dark scenes—LG"s Black Stabilizer senses dark scenes and helps make it brighter so that you can find the enemies hiding and waiting to attack your player in the dark. *Software download required to enable OnScreen Control.
