> 3 dayUPDATE 11/2022: As long as you take care not to jostle the cord once inserted in the back of the monitor, it works pretty consistently. After plugging the USB-C into the Mac, its important to wait to hear the connected sound, look for the battery icon to show the charging lightning bolt, and only then close the laptop to put it in clamshell mode. If you dont see the charging lightning bolt, the monitor screen will go dark when you close the laptop. __________________________ I purchased this monitor to work with my M1 Macbook in clamshell mode, and that requires the laptop to be powered. The monitor connection is supposed to power the Mac. To be clear: if the MacBook isn’t receiving power when closed, the monitor goes dark. As numerous other reviews have noted, theres something defective about the hub input for USB-C. It works about 50% of the time, no rhyme or reason. Youll hear the connecting tone, then it disconnects, then it connects, then disconnects. From reading other reviews, its no use getting the monitor replaced, because the replacement will have the same problem. I was out of the return period when I realized this was happening. Lesson learned: when you get electronics, use the f&*% out of them right up front, to make sure theyre going to work in the long run. Other downsides: (1) it’s so bright I can only use it at the very lowest brightness level (and I use Flux to dim the screen in lower light); (2) you must manually adjust all settings using a button under the screen. For instance, the brightness buttons on your Mac will not function.

> 3 dayThis is used with a Mac Studio. It is incredible quality and worked out of the box with no issues. 100% worth the price.

09-06-2025Bought this for my M1 Mac Mini and it works perfectly and looks great. I dont game, so no rating. Ive come to like the control button on the bottom of the display. Easy to find while being invisible. Be advised it comes with both USB-C and HDMI cables, I ordered cables with the product and didnt need them. Started by using the USB-C connection but ended up using HDMI as the M1 Mini (original) only has 2 USB-C ports and then the HDMI port would be unused. Switched using HDMI which also bring out audio. Works great either way. At full resolution, working with multiple documents is painless. Youll need goos vision though! Why Apple calls this display mode more space rather than label with the resolution, I have no clue.

> 3 dayIve been looking for the perfect monitor for the past couple of years and didnt want to spend all that money on the new Mac studios. I finally took the plunge with this monitor after extensive research and Im so glad that I did!! This a GREAT option for graphic designers like myself as the coloring out of the box was good to go. I almost like it better than my Macbook pro display. Its also probably one of the few budget friendly monitors out there that not only has great specs but looks great as well. I wanted something aesthetically pleasing alongside my mac. If you do any design, photo, or video work – this monitor is for you!

> 3 dayI bought this monitor for how versatile it would be in my setup. However, the main use is with my ps5. I had no desire to get an hdmi 2.1 4k tv as my display, so i settled for a 60hz 4k monitor. This one fit exactly what i was looking for. The 60hz is fine for the games i play, but maybe not for you. I hear hdmi 2.1 monitors will be released this year, so maybe wait on that if 60hz isnt enough for you. Now for the review. I am very picky about my visual and audio experience and this monitor lived up to my expectations. Out of the box, i really didnt like how the colors, brightness and sharpness looked. it just didnt have the pop of the LG 34gn850 despite being 4k and the 34gn850 being 1440p. Once i adjusted what i could with HDR on, i was a bit more satisfied, but still unimpressed. I then turned HDR off and everything changed. I messed with my settings and used the super resolution on high and that changed my whole perception. I was then very impressed. HDR just ruined the colors on ps5. They just didnt pop. The HDR is useless in my opinion and i wouldnt recommend using it. Super resolution has gotten a lot of hate from the reviews i read and maybe it is bad when used as a regular monitor, but as a gaming monitor, this option on high was perfect for me. I think it is worth getting the newer version that has the feature than an older monitor like the ul and uk if you are using it for gaming. Super resolution gets a 10/10 as a feature from me. The black levels are the main issue here. The blacks are almost grey no matter what settings you try. This doesnt bother me at all and is an issue with the 34gn850 as well. I think its just an ips monitor thing. I used an hp2511x tn panel before this and it had way better black levels, but also had way worse viewing angles. I guess its all up to preference when it comes to tn/ips/va but i think ips is still the best. The color accuracy and pop of the colors make ips the winner for me. The response time is fine. I havent done any technical analysis of it, but it doesnt feel any different than the tn panel i was using which was also 5ms. Just make sure you set freesync to extended and response time to faster in the settings. This monitor is great if you go through all the settings and tweak it to your liking. Colors stand out, super res is great. response time is good and the 4k is obviously the main selling point. The negatives are not enough to give it less than 5 stars for me, but i could see people having issues with black levels.

> 3 dayThis is by far my favorite monitor for my Macbook Air M1 2020. I love the colors right out of the box. I actually enjoy looking at this monitor more than looking at the screen on my Mac. The letters are so sharp and the colors vibrant. For the price, you are getting a high-quality monitor that makes the perfect friend for your Mac. I use Illustrator and Photoshop a lot and this monitor makes me stay focused on designing and be more creative. I highly recommend it.

> 3 dayThe picture quality is excellent. However, I tried to daisychain this to another monitor and couldnt get it to work. I wish LG had better instructions regarding this. In general, the menu buttons and design could use improvement. Over all, Im sort of happy with it.

> 3 dayAlthough I am aware this is a productivity monitor first, I was in the market for a 4K60 Monitor that could game well and would not break the bank. I am used to gaming on console so 120FPS support was not something I required as I am satisfied with 60FPS. I did endless amounts of research on various brands in this pricepoint to figure out what would be the best monitor in terms of screen quality and response time. This specific model did not have many reviews in terms of gaming performance, however I did know that LG makes great gaming monitors, this one has a game mode, and I was already looking at the LG 4K model priced below this one. When this model went on sale, I took a risk and purchased it over other highly praised monitors in this price point not knowing if it would be good for gaming, and I can answer that YES it is! Starting with screen quality, brightness is great, contrast is beyond expectation, white, gray, and black uniformity are all top notch, with little to no IPS glow. Colors are accurate and the resolution keeps things sharp. No complaints. For gaming, when you put this monitor directly side by side with a high refresh gaming monitor, it is extremely noticeable that this will not be as fast of a monitor as something gaming dedicated in terms of response time, however it is much more responsive than a normal 60FPS TV or other productivity based screens. I also have a 15 inch macbook retina display, and the response time on this monitor is atleast twice as good. Unless you are an ultra competitive high refresh gaming enthusiast, you will not notice any kind of input lag or poor pixel response in this monitor. It is just as good or better than playing console on a high end TV, and in gaming scenarios, I personally can not tell the difference between the response time on this monitor and my LG gaming monitor. It is only when using UFOTest that the difference becomes very apparent, and this mainly comes down to the difference in FPS. If I ran my dedicated LG gaming monitor at 60FPS, the response would be about the same. In short, if you are used to gaming on console with a TV and are looking for a responsive 60FPS display to prioritize image quality and play mostly singly player games with high settings, get this one and you will not have any regrets. If you are looking for the fastest thing in gaming and play mostly multiplayer competitive games you shouldnt even be reading this review. If you CAN afford it, I would highly recommend a 4K120 gaming monitor for the best of both worlds. In this price point with realistic expectations in mind, this is a fantastic monitor!

Greater than one weekThis is likely the best monitor that Ive owned. Color, brightness and image definition are excellent. The speakers are oriented away from the user. That is less than ideal. Ful disclosure, I seldom have audio on when operating my desktop. My main gripe is the on/off button. It has dual functionality in that it is also used to access various monitor controls. Not infrequently when I try to power the monitor off, it instead brings up a control menu. A bit annoying. Id prefer two buttons.

> 3 dayWe have an office full of LG 32UN880-B monitors, which were out of stock, so we ordered this one for about the same price. Side by side, this monitor has terrible viewing angles and is far more washed out than our other LG displays. Very disappointed in the quality of this monitor vs other LG HDR monitors.
