The original concept of the 3-button mouse was to use right click with the ring finger. Almost nobody did this so today few mice are designed for this hand position. The MX518 and its descendants are! This thing is a palm-position beast that works beautifully for both high and low res players - once you get used to it! If you grew up right clicking with your middle finger, expect a tough first week with the mx518, followed by a lifetime of satisfaction.

I owned several of the original MX 518 gaming mice, the grey version that had simulated dents in it and the red version. This was by far the best gaming mouse Ive ever used and this version of it brings back memories. Now its new and improved with the HERO sensor and i love it!!

Love the classic feeling of the mouse, it brings back memories of how confortable it was, sensor and software wise is up-to date, but is lacking some details that you have come to expect from current mice like braided cable an a little more weight to it (coming from a G500) but it is to be expected it is just a matter of getting use to it . Overall loving the mouse and hopping that it will last as much as my original MX510 (still working just fine after so many years)

Wow. Just wow. When they discontinued this model I was devastated. This was the most popular and best fit mouse that I used back in the old cs 1.6 / cs source days. I even messaged Logitech a few times to bring this back. Im sure this has nothing to do with my messages, but Im surely thankful that they relaunched this model. Best mouse ever made and highly recommend it. Not going to lie, I went away from Logitech mice for a while now, but Im back. Hope a Logitech rep reads some of these reviews ... Keep this mouse, PERMANENTLY. <3

Wow, was I ever surprised to see that Logitech was bringing back the greatest gaming mouse of all time! Believe it or not, Im still using my original MX518 that I bought in 2005! Its never let me down, so I was hesitant to buy this one for fear of jinxing my original. However, I decided to get one to use at the office and am very pleased. Its got the same shape, look, and feel as the original, but has some newer tech inside. The only difference in the feel are the non-glossy parts on the sides and around the scroll wheel. The rubberized coating of the old 518 has been replaced with a rough, matte plastic. This is a great change since that rubber junk always deteriorates and turns into a sticky mess after a few years. The new paint job is quite nice. Gone is the strange dented look. The paint starts as a glossy gray on the buttons and fades to an inky black past the buttons behind the scroll wheel. Tiny metallic specks sparkle throughout. They seem to be a mixture of reddish, and greenish under the fluorescent office lights, but shine bright silver when I shine my cell phone flash on them. Ive also poked around in the new Logitech G HUB software, but have found it to be fairly unintuitive. I had a difficult time, but was eventually able to save a couple different profiles directly to the mouse. This grants the ability to use your mouse profiles on any computer with or without the software. Long story short, If youre looking to recapture the glory days of CS 1.6 and HL2, dont hesitate to buy this revived piece of history! After a couple days of use, I think it should live up to expectations. If the buttons last as long as my original, Ill keep on using these till I die! Ill only need to keep a couple more stashed away!

So at a gaming convention in 2005 I received an MX518 as a prize for demoing a game. That mouse lasted me almost 15 years. In Dec 2019 I bought this mouse. After 6 months it started double-clicking on the left click occasionally. Logitechs RMA process is such a pain (they want like video evidence that shows todays date to RMA a cheap wired mouse with an apparently well-known double-clicking problem), that I just bought a new one assuming maybe that would be easier. Nope. I bought a new one in July 2020. That one was double-clicking a year later. So I buy ANOTHER new one in April 2022. It started double-clicking today. Im not buying another logitech mouse. Ive had other issues with quality and reliability with this brand and I think I just gotta try something else at this point. Super bummed because the MX518 has been my mouse for almost 20 years. Little odd the first one lasted me 15, and since then I cant find one thatll make it more than a year. Nice quality on your build there, Logitech! Also, your RMA process is atrocious.

This mouse has a very good build quality, its around 100g which is great for me, but might seem heavy to others. The Hero sensor is by far the most precise ive ever had. No acceleration, no angle snapping perfect for gaming. Your either going to love the shape of this mouse and the ergonomics, or your going to hate it, no middle ground really. Its a great palm/fingertip/hybrid grip mouse, but most people are probably going to want to palm grip this mouse. Glides great across surfaces. One down side may be the right side finger rest is kinda in a bad spot, but i fingertip grip this mouse so its not that much of an issue. Hope this helps someone!

I have used the original mx518 since it was first released.. up until 2018 when for some reason I convinced myself I needed a new gaming mouse. I ended up buying a Corsair Glaive which looked cool and had all the gamer features including RGB. well less than 2 years later that mouse started to have a double click issue... and I also noticed the scroll wheel was loosing its accuracy at slow scrolling speeds. A few months after that one the the thumb buttons flat out broke. I dug through the closet and pulled out my trusty ol mx518 which still worked flawlessly and began to use it as a backup. after the first day back with the mx518 I started to ask myself why I ever tried to replace it in the first place. it was more comfortable and the buttons felt better. I then discovered Logitech had re-released the mx518 with newer tech and I was immediately on board. 2 days later it arrived and it was exactly what I expected! spot on original shape and feel with the matte plastic being slightly more grippy then the original. The buttons feel a tad more crisp (which may have to do with my original being so old) and the hero sensor needs no introduction. This mouse is a sleeper.. a wolf in sheeps clothes and I love it.

I still have an older yet pretty decent condition MX518 and this one is almost identical in feel. The buttons, scroll wheel, etc. are all very similar. The pads on the bottom are much better than the original. I hope Logitech releases some more updated classics, especially the G500s. If the quality is as good as the MX518 redux, itll pretty much be a guaranteed purchase.

Great mouse that feels just like the classic, but with modern features and better specs. I had moved away from Logitech mice over the years as I wasnt a fan of the design and feel of the modern lineup, but as soon as I saw the mx518 was back, I had to get it. Although the glossy material looks and feels good, it is a smudge magnet. Often requires cleaning, but its not enough of a detriment to take away from the good. This is for people who like the feel of a big round medium weight mouse. I dont often switch sensitivities, but having a button that resets to the default of your choosing is fantastic for those accidental presses. Simple 2 side button configuration, and a deep left thumb recess also helps with accidental presses.
