> 3 dayThis is a fine mouse for the money, as it has it were it counts. The buttons feel good and are responsive, the weight of the mouse is good, and the tracking sensor is reliable. The build quality isnt perfect however. The mouse to me is very ugly with the grey plastic having a cheap sparkle to it. The plastic used in both the grey portion and the black outer portion feel a little cheap, however they seem sturdy enough after using the mouse a bit. The cord is also unwrapped, which is a little bothersome, but not a deal breaker. My biggest concern is that the mouse is build for a 1-3-1 hold, meaning three fingers should sit on top of the mouse. This was pretty uncomfortable to me as I had always used a 1-2-2 hold. I adapted pretty quickly, as I did not want to return the mouse, but others may not want to try and use a mouse unsuited to their preferences. Overall, it is a very good mouse for the price if it fits the hand, if not and you are unwilling to relearn the grip, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

> 3 dayThe MX518 form has always been my favorite. Seems reasonably durable but all do seem to eventually suffer from the dreaded Logitech double click problem. Cheap as chips though, I have 3 spares in case they stop making them again.

> 3 dayIve been using an MX518 since it came out, so 10+ years. It still works but Ive been starting to look for a replacement since the mouse cord is developing a short. Obviously this re-release was the logical option! However - there are some things that a definitely different, and IMHO opinion inferior, to the original. (1) The grip area uses a very hard plastics with a slight texture to it instead of other smooth but ever so slightly rubberized material. The grip security is noticeable worse now, and when I lift off the mouse to re-position on the mouse map, it regularly slips a fraction in my grip. Its a weird material that I havent seen on other mice. Not great. I ended up putting strips of electrical tape on the sides, which helped tremendously. (2) The scroll wheel is pretty poor quality. Other reviews mentioned the same thing. It has a gritty and mushy feel to the action which hasnt loosed or smoothed out in 2+ months of house. Also requires more pressure to move wheel. Not nearly as comfortable as the old one. (3) Different pads on the feet of the mouse with a much larger overall surface area. May or may not lead to a different experience, but it feels like it doesnt glide as nicely. (4) The cord is thinner and more delicate feeling. Might be just as strong, but who knows. (4) Last - at times - I feel like this mouse is lagging in game. I play a lot of FPS games and sometimes the input just feels off in a way that my old mouse (and others Ive used on occasion) never have. I dont know if this is a driver or software issue or what - but its been a pain to try and diagnose. Long story short, I love the classic re-released shape of this mouse, but enough of the details are changed that it just feels like a different mouse, and a lower quality one at that. I regret not returning it earlier and just making the jump to a different more modern designed mouse. Oh well.

> 3 daySo at a gaming convention in 2005 I received an MX518 as a prize for demoing a game. That mouse lasted me almost 15 years. In Dec 2019 I bought this mouse. After 6 months it started double-clicking on the left click occasionally. Logitechs RMA process is such a pain (they want like video evidence that shows todays date to RMA a cheap wired mouse with an apparently well-known double-clicking problem), that I just bought a new one assuming maybe that would be easier. Nope. I bought a new one in July 2020. That one was double-clicking a year later. So I buy ANOTHER new one in April 2022. It started double-clicking today. Im not buying another logitech mouse. Ive had other issues with quality and reliability with this brand and I think I just gotta try something else at this point. Super bummed because the MX518 has been my mouse for almost 20 years. Little odd the first one lasted me 15, and since then I cant find one thatll make it more than a year. Nice quality on your build there, Logitech! Also, your RMA process is atrocious.

> 3 dayI still have an older yet pretty decent condition MX518 and this one is almost identical in feel. The buttons, scroll wheel, etc. are all very similar. The pads on the bottom are much better than the original. I hope Logitech releases some more updated classics, especially the G500s. If the quality is as good as the MX518 redux, itll pretty much be a guaranteed purchase.

23-11-2024Ive been a Logitech fan for years now since I first started PC gaming. I wont lie I havent really tried anything else outside of Logitech but I do own just about every main mice in their gaming lineup. The G403, G502, G Pro, G302 and G300s. I always wanted to try the MX518 for its shape but never had the chance until now. I have to say this is arguably the most comfortable mouse Iv ever used. The shape feels similar to the G502 but it gets rid of the non essentials on that mouse and is much lighter. I very much like the old school look and the gloss finish is gorgeous and feels good to grip. Iv played FPS games almost exclusively my entire life. Battlefield, Overwatch, CS:GO, Titanfall, and now I mostly focus on Quake Champions and Apex Legends. The sensor is perfect in every way, thats not really surprising though since it is Logitech after all. The ergonomics are more suitable for medium to large hands, its definitely a THICC mouse and 100 grams isnt exactly the ideal for FPS but I dont mind it at all since the shape makes up for that. I had no issues adjusting from the 89g G pro going to this. Honestly this is probably going to be my main mouse from now on till I find a better shape but that probably wont happen. PROS - Amazing shape for medium to large hands (palm grip) - Solid construction in good ol Logitech fashion - Gorgeous aesthetics and finish (I dont care for Lamborghini flares or RGB) - Best sensor on the market - No braided cable (I cant stand brained cable. Theyre stiff, catch on everything and fray) - Logitech customer support (they have been amazing in the past) CONS - 100g is not ideal would have like to seen it around 90g - New Logitech G Hub software is not good, I much preferred old software - Doesnt give me Shroud aim

> 3 dayThe scroll wheels feels off coming from a g400s, the g400s was more stable and easy to track as I used it over the years, this one feels slightly slippery needs getting used to. And my palms keep sweating, ive never sweated so fast on my g400s, Actually i dont even remember sweating on my g400s ever. But for some reason my hand sweats so easily on this mx518 within minutes. I just wish they would make a g400s legendary instead, sure mx518 was good and popular, but the true real deal was the g400s as the best improvement of the mx518 back in the day. Ive used the g400s for over 8 years, bought one every 4 years, since 2012, but too bad, recently my g400s died so i was forced to buy a new one. Tried the g502 and another brand mouse they were terrible, I dont think im going to get used to sweating either.. Not sure what to do about this. I guess i can use it only on winters..

Greater than one weekDisclosure: I am not a gamer. I needed to replace the Logitech M500 mouse (RIP) Ive been using for nearly 20 years. I am retired and have some hobbies. I thought I could improve on my efforts by up-grading my mouse. This is the 3rd Logitech mouse in as many weeks (Thank you Amazon for making returns so easy). The MX518 is supposed to be the descendant of my M500. I had decided to give up on programmable buttons and wireless so this seemed to be the obvious choice. Wrong! One of the most useful features of the M500 was what is referred to as hyperscroll. Guess what was removed from the MX518?. Add to that, the optics have been changed and are not very reliable. Logitech software is questionable. Returned to Amazon.

Greater than one weekThe original MX518 introduced this shape, which I consider the perfect mouse size and shape, at least for my (on the large side) hands. It was then reused in the G5, G500 and G500s, some of the best mice of all time. I had been reluctantly using a G502 Proteus Core for the last couple of years, because I couldnt find anything else to replace my G500 with when it died. I was never really happy with the G502 though, so when I heard they were bringing back the MX518, but with a modern sensor, I jumped on it. It was a day one order for me. Now that I have it I am very happy with it. I love the feel of the shape in my hand, and its subtle looks without all the crazy disco lighting they put on all products these days. Not everything is perfect though, which is why it doesnt get 5 stars. 1.) It is VERY light. If you like a light mouse (that is the gaming trend today) then I suppose that is great. I dont. Ive always liked heavy peripherals. The G5 and G500 allowed you to add weights with a cool weight cartridge on the bottom. This mouse lacks that feature. IN the end I wound up ordering 3 ounces (85g) of weighted tungsten, taking off the cover, and sticking it inside the mouse to almost double the weight. Its much more to my liking now. It would have been better if it had a cartridge like the G5 and G500 though. (and not like the one in the G502, it is much worse, and lighter) 2.) The scroll wheel is a definite downgrade compared to the G502. This is the only thing I miss from the G502. It feels cheap and less precise compared to the one on the G502. Give this mouse a weight cartridge like the G5/G500 and a better scroll wheel, and it might just be the perfect mouse. Or they could - you know - just bring back the G500 with modern optics as well.
