I replaced my old (and original) MX518 mouse with this re-released version. In size grip and feel they are exactly identical, I couldnt recommend this mouse highly enough. However, compared to the original the cord they used this time is much thinner. I cant imagine this is for any reason other than lowering its lifespan so people cant go on using the same mouse for ten years. I wouldnt be surprised if other parts on this are inferior to the original.

Finish is different (obviously), strain relief is different, underside around the sensor is different, buttons are shaped differently and no longer have the red silkscreen, top rear-most button has a different logo entirely. The G logo inlay at the top rear isnt metal (which is probably better since the printing on it would eventually wear off on the old ones). Cable is thinner. Matte side finish may be a bit different- hard to tell. Most of these items are superficial and doesnt really detract, but again, its not the mx518, I was hoping for. Its a Rev 2...

I still own my old MX518, as far as shape and button positioning this mouse is spot on to the original. As for the features, they are upgraded for the better (DPI as well as software features). It looks like my old mouse minus a new paint job. While it has made playing games like Overwatch easier, it hasnt made my overall performance much better, but thats a personal problem T_T and I need to git gud again after all this time.

Who would have ever thought that after Logitech released the original MX518 back in 2005, there would be no other mouse like it?! The original MX518 has changed the PC gaming world by setting the standard of what a gaming mouse should be. I still have the original MX518 as well as the MX518se (2nd edition). Although Logitech have replaced the mouse over the years, none of them could ever match up to the standard of the MX518 until the release of the G MX518. The Logitech G MX518 has taken the standards set by the original MX518 and raised them to new heights! With the classic design and feel, along with a modern 16,000 dpi optical gaming sensor and a 32-bit ARM processor, this mouse has taken the crown as the new king of gaming mice of all time!!! Much credit to Logitech for listening to the PC gaming community and taking heed to rebirth a true legend!!!

My original MX518 lasted 8+ years. This lasting 5 months is pathetic.

Ive been involved in the pc gaming community for a good amount of years now, mainly playing fps games like counterstrike, call of duty, overwatch, and so forth to apex now; so, Ive used a good deal of mice over the years, to name some: Zowie fk-1, zowie ec1-A, logitech g703, logitech g203, Logitech g403, and the razer deathadder, and none of them feel as comfortable to hold (palm/claw hybrid) and as precise as the hero sensor in this revamped version of the mx518. Ive always heard good things about the original mx518, but I could never justify spending upwards of $150 for new one or upwards of $50 for a used one that typically had some sort of functional or cosmetic damage. When Logitech announced the mx518 remake I immediately ordered one and I already love it. It feels very comfortable to grip, has a nice look to it (I like the smooth, sparkly design on top that has a sort of ombre effect going from a dark black at the base of the mouse to a lighter grey at the top of the mouse that reminds me of the original mx518s color), and like I mentioned before the hero 16k feels like one of the smoothest, most responsive sensors Ive used in a while. First impressions, 10/10. Ill make an edit in the future after Ive used it for different games. Thanks for bringing the legend back Logitech! Edit: 2/28/19 Pros: - Great ergonomics for right hand mouse users - Design is simple, but looks great. This mouse does not have any RGB or lighting, which isnt a problem with me but could be to someone who wants a mouse with lighting for their flashy set up. - The cord is rubberized and is thinner than other Logitech mice Ive used before like the g203 (rubber) and the g403 (braided), which is nice because it fits into my mouse bungee a little easier but isnt so thin that it slides around or comes out. - This mouse weighs 101 grams which isnt the lightest mouse on the market but still feels very manageable and slides across the surface of my mouse pad with ease. - Hero 16k sensor is one of the best optical sensors on the market right now, feels very responsive and I definitely feel a difference in performance over the g203 I was using before getting the mx518. Cons: - The only issue Ive had so far with this mouse is the glossy surface. Although its sufficiently grippy and aesthetically pleasing (to me, might not be your cup of tea), if you have sweaty hands residue does build up on the surface. Nothing a quick wipe wont fix though.

The MX518 form has always been my favorite. Seems reasonably durable but all do seem to eventually suffer from the dreaded Logitech double click problem. Cheap as chips though, I have 3 spares in case they stop making them again.

Love the classic feeling of the mouse, it brings back memories of how confortable it was, sensor and software wise is up-to date, but is lacking some details that you have come to expect from current mice like braided cable an a little more weight to it (coming from a G500) but it is to be expected it is just a matter of getting use to it . Overall loving the mouse and hopping that it will last as much as my original MX510 (still working just fine after so many years)

Ive been a Logitech fan for years now since I first started PC gaming. I wont lie I havent really tried anything else outside of Logitech but I do own just about every main mice in their gaming lineup. The G403, G502, G Pro, G302 and G300s. I always wanted to try the MX518 for its shape but never had the chance until now. I have to say this is arguably the most comfortable mouse Iv ever used. The shape feels similar to the G502 but it gets rid of the non essentials on that mouse and is much lighter. I very much like the old school look and the gloss finish is gorgeous and feels good to grip. Iv played FPS games almost exclusively my entire life. Battlefield, Overwatch, CS:GO, Titanfall, and now I mostly focus on Quake Champions and Apex Legends. The sensor is perfect in every way, thats not really surprising though since it is Logitech after all. The ergonomics are more suitable for medium to large hands, its definitely a THICC mouse and 100 grams isnt exactly the ideal for FPS but I dont mind it at all since the shape makes up for that. I had no issues adjusting from the 89g G pro going to this. Honestly this is probably going to be my main mouse from now on till I find a better shape but that probably wont happen. PROS - Amazing shape for medium to large hands (palm grip) - Solid construction in good ol Logitech fashion - Gorgeous aesthetics and finish (I dont care for Lamborghini flares or RGB) - Best sensor on the market - No braided cable (I cant stand brained cable. Theyre stiff, catch on everything and fray) - Logitech customer support (they have been amazing in the past) CONS - 100g is not ideal would have like to seen it around 90g - New Logitech G Hub software is not good, I much preferred old software - Doesnt give me Shroud aim

The best mouse ever made just got better. I noticed that the chord and texture is improved over the original.
