18-11-2024I am on my 4th timer. Two are located outdoors and work great. The next is for my indoor 75 gallon gas water heater. I have this smart plug controlling the power to the AO Smith water heater. It is like an on/off switch when I am away. I turn it on before we get home from traveling and we have hot water. The 4th replaced a mechanical time on a large outdoor low voltage power unit. The programs are easy as well. Every plug can have its own set by hour and day.

> 3 dayIt loses Wi-Fi signal sometimes and doesnt always respond instantly, but the functionality is worth the mild hassle

22-11-2024I installed this to control my outdoor fountain. I was tired of trying to dial in the old manual timer and guess whether I had the times approximately right. With this, it works perfectly. I can time the fountain to go off when the lights do and come on at a specific time in the morning. I can also use it as a remote control to turn off the fountain when the wind is high and it’s blowing all the water out of it. I read some reviews that indicated the WiFi reception is poor. That’s not been my experience. I connected it to WiFi inside the house before moving it to the outdoor receptacle. Pairing is simple by downloading the app, setting it in pairing mode by holding down the power button for 5 sec, then the app auto discovers the device. Enter your WiFi password and you’re set. I love this device. Really easy to use, the app is great (looks a lot like my SmartLife app) and entering timing programs is intuitive and fast. Two thumbs up!

> 3 dayI bought two of these, one for my outdoor stringed lights, another for Christmas lights this past winter. While I believe this can be used with other smart systems, maybe with google home, alexa and so on - I just downloaded and used their app (Smart Life) and it immediately recognized the devices, was able to rename them (ie, Back Porch Lights) and set a schedule. The scheduling part isnt 100% intuitive but its not difficult either, and ... I just let them run. Easy as that. No more did you remember to turn the Christmas lights off. It also has a manual button to easily override the schedule and just turn it on or off, which has been nice.

> 3 daySet up instructions dont explain Smart Life App, but it works. Connect your smart phone to the 2.4GHz network you want the plug to connect to. Open the Smart Life App and click + to add device. Plug in the smart plug. If the white LED isnt blinking, then push and hold the on/off switch for more than 5 seconds. Release the button and it should connect in 10 or 15 seconds. Instructions state not to expose it to rain, but it is IP65 rated. Ill risk it.

> 3 dayOne doesn’t need to be a rocket scientist to setup and work these. I know some have remembered the commercial “ even a caveman can do this.” It works and even with Alexa.

20-11-2024Overall a nice product, gets very hot managing my pool pump though so I’d keep it outside for anything drawing current att the top end of its rating.

> 3 dayI had trouble with a different brand of smart plug—the Wi-Fi connection was sketchy at best. The Minoston has been rock solid, worked great right out of the box, and has an easy-to-use interface. Nice!

21-11-2024These are great and work like they should. We’re a little difficult to program and set up with Alexa

> 3 dayCouldn’t hook up directly to Alexa. Couldn’t hook up to google home. Got it hooked up to the Minoston app, but then Alexa couldn’t find it. Finally hooked up to smart life (not smart things) and then Alexa finally auto detected the device. I was literally seconds away from returning this. Instructions are terrible. At least it’s working now and I can control the plug via voice on Alexa.
