If you just need a basic z-wave controller outlet, this is probably a 5 star device. For those with stranger configurations (like myself), Association Group 1, the group that gets pushed status updates from the device, can only contain the primary controller. If you have a secondary/tertiary/etc controller, they wont get updates and youll have to poll the device for its current status. regularly.

S2 authentication works on 700 series but can be difficult to setup

I was looking for an easy and affordable way to add my low voltage lighting systems in the yard to my Vivint hub to control. I got my installer code from Vivint and plugged in both devices and with three quick clicks they added to my Vivint system without any problems. Now my LV lighting is part of my smart home system with very little cost or effort. Ill definitely buy more of these as I continue to add more devices.

During the process of getting this working the front cover plate will pull off and exposed the board and contacts leaving the plug in the outlet live. I tried added this to the DTE insite app for energy monitoring but it failed setting up. Problem was it kept the plug included which kept me from adding to another zwave network (home assistant). I tried the reset procedure (two press then a 10 second press and hold) but it did not remove it from the DTE bridge network. I fixed the issue by manually excluding the device though DTE insight (had to power cycle the bridge to get the exclusion to work). Then I was able to connect it to the Home Assistant Zwave network. I am just starting out with Zwave and discovering that as long as the Zwave hub is on and owns the device, the device will continue to connect to the old hub and not the new one.

I bought 4. 1 was intermittent and then fully dead within a few weeks. Another just died. Seller has replaced units, and I am happy. As far as getting paired with your Z-Wave Hub, make sure you have a load attached to the switch -- in other words, give it something to be doing/controlling before starting the pairing process.

I love these plugs, they are compact, do not cover the second outlet on the wall, work great with Z-Wave; and the price is just right compared to other more expensive plugs. Includes and excludes from Z-Wave controller very easily. Great product.

Frustrating little thing. I’ve got around 100 devices in my z-wave network so I’ve had my share of tricky devices to pair. This one takes the cake. I set out to pair this with my SmartThings (Aeotec, the latest) hub. Followed the instructions for the custom device handler, attempting several factory resets, exclusion mode from my network, inclusion mode from right next to my gateway, trying scan mode pairing vs the QR code first... nothing was working. Finally, after a couple hours of trying, the device decided to respond to the inclusion request and join the network… but it wouldn’t update its status to the hub. It would react to commands and turn on, dim, etc, but never report back that they were completed so the app would always show the switch as still turned off. Removed it and re-paired it (this time It only took about a half hour of constantly retrying), and now it’s working fine. After all this, though, wondering how it’ll hold up! I’d recommend buying a different dimmer that plays nicer with z-wave!

Easy to connect/setup. Responds quickly to commands. But dies quickly. I purchased 4 of these. 1 would not reset after 30 days. 2nd 1 died after 3 months. Im waiting on final 2 to give out. When they die, they just stop working stop powering on. Doesnt matter if plug in different outlets, click the button on the side to reset or manual power on. They simply stop showing power. I would guess an internal electric issue. I returned the first 1 that died and the seller sent a new one to replace. Said they knew of the source of the issue and it was fixed. *updated review from 2 stars to 4 stars. Support reached out to me and said its a capacitance problem. Offered to send another replacement for the 2nd device that failed. The item does work well and seller continues to replace the faulty ones.

Recommended for use with SmartThings. Scanned the QR code and it paired easily.

Excellent little dimmer module! And it leaves the 2nd wall outlet unimpeded. I had no issues pairing it with my VeraSecure, and have no issues controlling it. I was very pleased to find it really does deep dimming, all the way down to 1% with the bulbs I use, which is basically night-light level. I even reduced the minimum dimming level parameter in the MP21ZD down to 1% from its default value of 10%. I observe no flickering at any level. It does do a brief flash when going from off to a very low level (like 1%), but I want it to do that to properly start the bulbs. It also works perfectly with my Zooz ZEN34 remote switches for both on/off and dimming control. I have the ZEN34 associated with the MP21ZD on association group 2 for on/off and group 3 for dimming. That was a pleasant surprise as the documentation for the MP21ZD doesnt say it supports group 3. First one worked perfectly, Ive ordered two more! UPDATED 2022-10-13: Five stars down to 1 Three of the four I purchased are now in the trash: #1: I think it was frequently tripping its thermal sensor. With a 10W LED table lamp plugged into it, every couple of days the light would just go out and Id have to unplug/replug the dimmer into the wall. Unacceptable. #2: Never came back after a brief (1-2 second) power outage. Totally dead Zwave interface, unplug/replug no help, unpair/repair not possible. Maybe there was a surge or something, but none of my other 100+ Zwave devices had an issue with that power outage. #3: After a couple of weeks of use, started doing a single, deep flicker with every level change. As I was using it to automatically control a floor lamp in a room based on ambient light, and my controller would command level changes periodically, it was very irritating.
