> 3 dayI purchased two different models of this product: the MP21Z and the MP21ZP. Model MP21Z: This is a fairly straightforward plug. You can put it into pairing mode per the included instructions - but it also goes into pairing mode the first time its plugged in. So put your gateway into pairing mode, plug in the plug, and away you go. Im using Home Assistant supervisor-2021.09.0, core-2021.9.6, deployed via OVA on an ESXi host with a z-wave dongle connected via USB passthrough, and it saw this plug immediately without any problems. Be mindful that this plug is only rated for 10 amps, and this model does NOT report power usage. This model is also not a dimmer. It does on/off only. Im using it to control some low-wattage lamp bulbs, so its perfect for those needs. Model MP21ZP: My experience with this model was much the same as the MP21Z. It goes into pairing mode as soon as its plugged in, and Home Assistant found it immediately. I will say that, while on/off functionality worked immediately, I had to re-interview the device after initial pairing in order for HA to see all the attributes. The MP21ZP does not appear to be in the Z-Wave JS database as such, so some attributes give it trouble. BUT, the reporting that comes out of this plug is pretty detailed. Im using this plug for the plant lights in my laundry room, and Im very interested in seeing usage which is why I bought this plug. Ive included a screenshot from Home Assistant of the MP21ZP and all its entities. Its impressive, and Ill continue to get these plugs to use in my home.

> 3 dayIve used Insteon based products for a long time in many different environments. While they can be finicky, Ive usually had pretty reliable performance once Ive gotten them up and running. Although I dont have a ton of experience with Z-Wave, Ive always read about the claimed advantages, one of which is the availability of sensors and thermostats versus Insteon. To make a potentially long story short, I recently installed a Z-Wave thermostat after replacing my furnace and finding that my Insteon thermostat couldnt support it. Unfortunately, I was receiving Z-Wave transmission errors even though my thermostat was only several feet from my Z-Wave gateway. Although I was able to clear up most of the errors by very specifically placing the Z-Wave gateway, I was still getting some transmission errors and, based on everything I have read about Z-Waves mesh technology, I thought that adding another device or two (which I didnt really need, but could use) might help the reliability of the transmission. This plug seemed like it would fit the bill. Unfortunately, this unit seems to be every bit as sensitive to location as my existing thermostat. I could get it to work if I held it in the correct place , but when I tried to install it (about 15 feet from the gateway, not line of sight)--no dice. Eventually, I just ended up sending it back because it seemed like more trouble than it was worth. I will say that it seemed like a fine unit for the short time that I had it (build quality and such) and I really dont have enough Z-Wave experience to determine if this is just par for the course, or if this was just poor performance from this unit. While I understand that the manufacturers of such products have an incentive to overstate the performance of their products, if this functions like the spec claims is typical, this simply doesnt (or at least it didnt for me).

> 3 dayExcellent little dimmer module! And it leaves the 2nd wall outlet unimpeded. I had no issues pairing it with my VeraSecure, and have no issues controlling it. I was very pleased to find it really does deep dimming, all the way down to 1% with the bulbs I use, which is basically night-light level. I even reduced the minimum dimming level parameter in the MP21ZD down to 1% from its default value of 10%. I observe no flickering at any level. It does do a brief flash when going from off to a very low level (like 1%), but I want it to do that to properly start the bulbs. It also works perfectly with my Zooz ZEN34 remote switches for both on/off and dimming control. I have the ZEN34 associated with the MP21ZD on association group 2 for on/off and group 3 for dimming. That was a pleasant surprise as the documentation for the MP21ZD doesnt say it supports group 3. First one worked perfectly, Ive ordered two more! UPDATED 2022-10-13: Five stars down to 1 Three of the four I purchased are now in the trash: #1: I think it was frequently tripping its thermal sensor. With a 10W LED table lamp plugged into it, every couple of days the light would just go out and Id have to unplug/replug the dimmer into the wall. Unacceptable. #2: Never came back after a brief (1-2 second) power outage. Totally dead Zwave interface, unplug/replug no help, unpair/repair not possible. Maybe there was a surge or something, but none of my other 100+ Zwave devices had an issue with that power outage. #3: After a couple of weeks of use, started doing a single, deep flicker with every level change. As I was using it to automatically control a floor lamp in a room based on ambient light, and my controller would command level changes periodically, it was very irritating.

> 3 dayI bought the dimmer because some of the reviews said it worked with Smartthings. When setting it up, Smartthings shows it as a Siren. Another reviewer said youll need a device handler, and just to email the company and they would send one. I did that and got No response. So, started looking to see what I could do to change it. Went into the api, found the device that said Siren and edited it. I named it ZWave Dimmer Outlet and for the type, I chose Z-Wave Dimmer Switch Generic and it works as expected. Hopes this helps other with Smartthings.

> 3 dayThis was probably the fastest pairing zwave s2 device Ive ever used (smartthings hub). The power and energy monitoring seem to be fairly accurate. Power reports every 5 minutes out of the box. I have mine outside in a weatherproof box. No complaints with anything.
