> 24 hourIve had the stainless steel model for a few years and it performs like a champ. I havent had the carbon model out in the field yet but I am sure it performs similarly. Its unbeatable at the price I paid.

> 24 hourSo, I ordered this because of the mostly overwhelmingly positive reviews and for the most part I’m happy with it. I do think, however, that it could have been better. I wouldn’t say that this is an actual review of the product because I haven’t had the chance yet to put it through its paces. With that said, what I can talk about is my first impressions of it. It is well made and feels very sturdy. It looks great and is very light weight and nimble in the hand. I got the composite sheath system version and I must say it is definitely the way to go. It isn’t all roses, though, because it isn’t sharp out of the box. It’s sharp enough to cut things sure, but razor sharp—shaving sharp it certainly is not. There is a very noticeable chip in the edge of the one I received straight out of the package. This isn’t a complete wash because I can just sharpen it but nearly every knife I have ever bought came shaving sharp. The other gripe I have is the overall price. I think that it is too expensive for what it is even with the fancy sheath. I say this because I bought a different knife from a different company only a couple months before this one and I paid only ten dollars more for it. Big deal, right? Yeah, if you don’t know the details. The other knife is about 3” longer and about twice as thick and is USA made in 1095 carbon steel. It also came out of the box shaving sharp. So more knife, sharper from a reliable US company for only $10 more? Yeah, the Mora should have been way cheaper.

> 24 hourProbably the dullest factory edge I’ve ever bought. Great fit and finish, great construction, but out of the box you couldn’t butter toast with this thing.

> 24 hourThis is a fairly sought after tool (Morakniv Garberg 4.3 (if I remember correctly) Carbon Steel Blade Synthetic Multi-Mount Sheath Black) with tons of demonstrations, reviews, critiques, et cetera on the internet so I dont need to go into the details. Its sturdy, holds an edge well, sharpens well...well I dont know that personally but the edge cleans up easily with a very fine stone and strop both with and without varying compounds, the handle is nice enough and useable in all weather...again I havent actually used this in every kind of weather out there. It provides grip and control in the heat with sweaty palms, in the rain, in the cold (my experience includes nothing much below freezing), with the appropriate gloves on for the activities/weather. Obviously the thinner most durable gloves feel the best while using this knife if you cant use the naked hand. I did receive the genuine article and Id gladly take another. I will be purchasing the Stainless Steel version probably with the leather sheath. That would be my single complaint, the sheath I opted for (Theres nothing wrong with it, I just dont like it.)... easily replaceable though. As I meantioned, its a sought after tool and that means there are plenty of leather workers/craftspeople that sell sheaths of a vasque variety and some custom as well. Its a good buy and if its under $80.-$85. USD thats still (mid April 2021) a good deal on this off-the-shelf knife with a couple of sheath options. Morakniv really hasnt ever been a disappointment but this is only my 5th-6th product of theirs. The S.S. version will serve as a backup (nearly no maintenance so its easy to just store and go) to the carbon version. Its another cool knife if nothing else. If you take care of it with caution, maintenance and propper use it can serve every purpose for which it was intended.

> 24 hourHowdy forest people out there, Just received the Garberg. I had big expectations for this blade. Sad thing is that this is one of the dullest blades I have seen out of the box. Could barely pash the simple-straight-cut paper test. I have three other knives from the cheaper Morakniv series and I was always impressed of how good they are out of the box. Not the case with the Garberg. I am not sure why. Maybe they thicker blade made them go for a more obtuse edge angle. For a rought comparison, its new edge performes the same as my 2.5-year old Mora Pro S (with light to moderate use in the bush and without edge touchups).
