Great knife, but I would buy the version without the ferro rod holder and knife sharpener if I buy another. The ferro rod fits very loose in the supplied holder, which I didnt realize, so that it fell out and I lost it on the first trip into the field. (I had intended to get the ferro rod out and try it in the field, but it was gone before I could get to it.) The sharpener that is built into the same ferro rod holder is very course and ok for field use, but I would rather just pack a sharpening stone that provides a course and fine side to get a better sharpened knife. As noted before, it is a great knife. Compact and light, but tough enough to get the job done.

I have both the stainless and carbon Garberg’s. Best survival-bushcraft knife you can get for the money. Quality control is amazing! I have Bark River’s and much more expensive knives, but this is the one I take with me camping. Excellent quality, and at that price you really don’t have to worry about abusing it. It makes an excellent carving knife as well.

This is a fairly sought after tool (Morakniv Garberg 4.3 (if I remember correctly) Carbon Steel Blade Synthetic Multi-Mount Sheath Black) with tons of demonstrations, reviews, critiques, et cetera on the internet so I dont need to go into the details. Its sturdy, holds an edge well, sharpens well...well I dont know that personally but the edge cleans up easily with a very fine stone and strop both with and without varying compounds, the handle is nice enough and useable in all weather...again I havent actually used this in every kind of weather out there. It provides grip and control in the heat with sweaty palms, in the rain, in the cold (my experience includes nothing much below freezing), with the appropriate gloves on for the activities/weather. Obviously the thinner most durable gloves feel the best while using this knife if you cant use the naked hand. I did receive the genuine article and Id gladly take another. I will be purchasing the Stainless Steel version probably with the leather sheath. That would be my single complaint, the sheath I opted for (Theres nothing wrong with it, I just dont like it.)... easily replaceable though. As I meantioned, its a sought after tool and that means there are plenty of leather workers/craftspeople that sell sheaths of a vasque variety and some custom as well. Its a good buy and if its under $80.-$85. USD thats still (mid April 2021) a good deal on this off-the-shelf knife with a couple of sheath options. Morakniv really hasnt ever been a disappointment but this is only my 5th-6th product of theirs. The S.S. version will serve as a backup (nearly no maintenance so its easy to just store and go) to the carbon version. Its another cool knife if nothing else. If you take care of it with caution, maintenance and propper use it can serve every purpose for which it was intended.

If all you want to know is that this is an amazing knife that is great for the price, go buy it. But if you want some more details its abilities and its few but still there weaknesses. I love this knife and for the money you couldnt find a better knife for almost and survival, camp, hunting anything. Pros: It came well packaged and it great shape. The sheathe is confusing to work but very high quality. It came very sharp but just short of shaving sharp. It has a great feel and weight The spine looks great for fire starters Its coating is very high quality and when i used it barely scratched and when I oiled it it looked like new The scandi grind is perfect and has awesome geometry. The knife did great when splitting and chopping hard wood and the tip is indestructible. Handle is great full tang suits this knife gives it a great heft Cons: My tip is misaligned very slightly with the blade (not very important) While using against very hard wood it took 2 very small refelctions/chips on the blade. They arnt visible but can be felt The carbon steel is amazing for edge retention and sharpness but needs to be oiled and maintain so its doesnt rust The sheath is strong and very sturdy but confusing to set up and over complicated
