The first thing I noticed is that the thing is made of metal. This is something not often seen in this day and age. This includes the buttons as well and they even light up. All ten ports have power and can be used for data as well. Now some hubs that are self powered still shutdown when the computer is off, but not this little guy. I have a USB fan plugged into one of the ports and it kept on going after I turned off the system. Personally I feel that is a plus because things can charge independently. I have had it for almost a month and feel it was a worthwhile purchase. Update a little over a year later. My need for a larger hub arose, and although I considered other brands I went with the 16 port model from the same company. Other than having more ports, it is just as well constructed and works perfectly.

I bought this hub because of the ability to shut off individual ports. This way I can keep my keyboard plugged in but not powered when Im not using it so my cat cant use it either. I am not using all the ports thank goodness or only 90 watts of power would not be enough to poperly handle the extra load

A great device to have if you use a Surface device as your only computer. The downside: dont attach a mouse (wired, or USB wireless) to this strip. The mouse will be VERY laggy and jump around, with random uncommanded clicks.

It arrived, I opened the package, unplugged old hub, plugged in the new one and everything works. I like that the new one has On/Off buttons. The real test is how long will it last. Not too mechanical so it should last a few years., just as the older one did. Now that I have more slots I will leave everything in and will just switch off the ones that I seldom use rather than unplug and replug.

I seldom take chances on devices like these. Mainly because some are poorly made , good concept but they fail because they use cheap parts to mass produce. This device! well built! durable cables! very thick. Good quality , I would most certainly buy this unit again or a larger version of it. Recommend to all ETechs and IT folk in the field.

92001902647389220000370530Well and solidly made. All buttons/LEDs/ports operate correctly. So solidly made that after I had attached it to my computer desk with strong 3M double-sided tape and a few weeks later, decided to move it, the tape and hub pulled the covering off the computer desk! (I had thought the top was black MDF. But the covering was some sort of black vinyl material. So, very well made hub. One issue, and this is not a criticism of this hub, but rather the entire hub-making industry, is that the ports are incorrectly located if one wants to minimize the clutter and spaghetti-like mess of all the connecting cables, power cords, etc. the average USB A plug with metal, rigid plastic before reaching the flexible plastic is about 3 inches long. Ten of them plugged in totally out weigh the hub if the hub is just placed on the desk. Affixing the hub so one can see the buttons and LEDs (directly facing the user), means the hub has to be placed too far back under the monitor to be readily seen or accessed. The ports should not be on the same surface as the LEDs and buttons. In the attached picture, the ports should be located on the side where my taped-on numbers are. (Or the LEDs & buttons should be on that side.) There are some companies that make right-angle adaptors (Amazon sponsors Oxsubor and Posduo adaptors, as well as others—but does it make sense to spend $50-60 for a hub AND then have to spend another $60-70 for adaptors to make the hub work? I think not!) Industry: change your practices! Clearly the folks who make these hubs never have to use them!

Very happy and highly recommend! Switches work great and I like the low light but seeable lights or use of on off switching. Very very happy !

I purchased this as a replacement for a different USB Hub I had purchased. I was intrigued by the individual power buttons next to each slot. Truth be told, that functionality hasnt really done much for me as I dont normally leave flash drives in there which I use now but turn off when done. That being said the construction of the Hub is very sturdy and I was impressed by the transfer speeds. That was one of my other concerns is that I am transferring data many times and wanted easy access to a Hub as the USB ports on my PC are not as easy to get access to. It lived up to my desires. I can transfer speeds as expected depending on the device. To be fair I do have it plugged into a USB 3.1 2nd Gen port. So I have given it a best chance of success. My only complaint would be that the power led next to the port is not visible from a low angle. You have to be almost on top of the hub in order to see it. It would have been nice in my opinion if it protruded a bit from the device so it would be easier to see. All in all I am glad I purchased this and would recommend to anyone looking for a USB Hub.

I like the on/off buttons for each port and they all face up so theyre easy access. So far, I have had no problems with it.
