This gave me the ability to connect my external hard drives as well as other devices and have spares when testing or downloading stuff from other devices.

This is the third Atolla Hub Ive owned and they are all great. They have become my primary USB hub brand of choice. My first one is used in my car and has never had connection issues. My second one powers my wifes various electronics on her nightstand and she has said they have never given her problems. This one just replaced my Amazon Basic USB 3.0 hub which finally (after 2 years) started giving me connection problems. The build and materials all feel like high quality. What sets this apart from other high quality hubs are the on/off buttons that allow you to disconnect things without having to remove them from the hub -- its a killer feature that Im surprised other manufacturers havent copied yet. Cant go wrong with this purchase.

**UPDATE** I can now comment on longevity: After 2 years one bank of led lights went out. At around 2.5 years I started experiencing devices occasionally going offline and needing to be unplugged and plugged back in to operate normally again. At 3 years devices started constantly cutting out, so I finally replaced it. So it worked fine for about 2 years and slowly failed over another year before becoming unusable. I would have preferred to get more time out of it before trashing it, so lowered my review from 5 stars to 3 stars. **ORIGINAL REVIEW** Only owned it a few weeks, so cant comment on longevity, but I really like the functionality. First off, I bought the one with 16 ports, and I have them all filled. Prior to this I had to use multiple hubs and was still short a few. Id had some issues with my keyboard being plugging into other hubs, but not this one. All devices have worked fine. I wanted one with buttons on the left side. It just works better for my setup. My old 7 port hub with buttons had them on the right and it was harder see and reach them where I have it situated at the rear of my desk. Where you will place the hub may help you decide if you want left or right buttons. The lights are not bright, but viewable when I stand up to change the buttons. Better than no lights, though guess it would be nice if you could more easily see which buttons were up and which were down. Yet so far, not a big enough issue in my day to day use to mark it down. I have hubs that are all metal and heavier. While those feel better, this one is functioning better yet so far, so Im good with it. It stays in place and stays flat even without the extra weight.

Ive had the unit for a little over two months now. After the first day of use, one of the LED lights turned off forever, but I always figured that to happen eventually (but not that soon!) So far though, its good. As with any hub, most USB devices work, but occasionally theres one that doesnt. Best thing I like so far is the control the buttons give. Thats been real good. Ill update again early next year. No idea how long this powered device will work due to it being powered, but its always cool to the touch, and not once has there been an issue with data transfers which is the most important thing.

This thing is straight up amazing. I had so many issues with my peripherals, even the ones that were plugged in directly to my motherboard. I will never go without using one of these again. At first, I tried using one without its own dedicated power source, but the results were less than ideal and not much better than it was before. I almost gave up until I considered a USB hub with its own power source. I was still skeptical that everything would work the way I wanted it to, but I was pleasantly surprised and so glad that I paid the extra money for this high quality one. The build quality and material is great and it feels solid, it does not feel cheap at all and I can tell it will last me a long time. What Ive been able to do with cable management now because of this Godsend is so amazing and I couldnt be happier with my setup. I have my headphones + charger, keyboard with two USB cables, my wireless mouse, my wireless phone charger and in RGB keyboard mat all hooked up to this bad boy and I have ports to spare!! If you are afraid to spend this kind of money on a USB hub and hesitant that it wont suit your needs, then rest assured, because youll be asking yourself how you lived without it!

I got the 16-port hub in late 2020. After a few months the ports started dying off. 2.5 years later and I have 9 ports working properly. I would not buy again.

I have so many things that use up a USB slot and getting to the back of my pc to plug stuff in is a pain. Plus I dont even think I have enough slots for all my stuff. This though, I put it on top of my desk for easy access and now I have everything plugged in, and just turn things on and off as I need them. I have not noticed any loss in terms of audio (mic and headphones) and the input delay for my controllers and fightpad are the same as if they were plugged straight into the pc. I havent tried any other USB hubs but this does the job and does it well.

I have had this for several months, it is an upgrade/replacement for a hub from a different manufacturer. The hub itself has just enough heft to it to prevent it from sliding around when bumping into cables connected to it. Being able to power off a port vs. unplug a USB device is very nice. The power supply is a sturdy gauge. I am pleased and I recommend it.

Its a nice system with one limitation: the USB cable is only three feet long. The hub is intended to sit on top of a desk with all the pretty lights and functional switches, and most people put their PCs on the floor or attached to the underside of the desk on one end of the desk or the other. Both sections of the power cord are each four feet long for a total of eight feet - thats plenty long. But the USB cable is only three long - not quite enough to reach that PC. But this isnt your normal USB cable with a common male on each end. One end - the end that plugs into the hub - is some weird non-standard male that Ive never seen before. I cant just pop open my box of USB cables and pull out a six foot male-on-each-end cable. I need a female/female adapter or a female/male extension cable - neither of which is all that common and neither of which I have in my box. Oh well. Easily solved on my end with another Amazon purchase but, at this price, a longer cable from the manufacturer would have been appreciated. Another issue I have with the hub is that the blue indicator lights are difficult to see without looking down from virtually directly above. This is because they are tiny and sunk a bit into tiny holes. In bright light they are impossible to see without being directly over the hub. Add to this the black switches do not have a different height when on versus off so we cant tell the state of the switch by looking at them. My advice to the manufacturer is to: 1) Brighten the indicator light. 2) Raise the light in the hole so that its surface is even with or above the hub surface, or change the hole so it doesnt have straight walls but rather more of a conical shape so the lights surface can be viewed from more angles. Update After less than two years of use, the ports are starting to fail. Ive given up on this specific device and the manufacturer. I have switched to another manufacture - its much easier to determine which ports are live.
