I got this because I outgrew my 8-port hub. Its great, I love granularly controlling power to each port. Can save me from unplugging things. Delivers plenty of power due to the external PSU. Overall this is for device-heavy users but if you need the ports, this unit is a great one.

I just purchased two of these. One for a laptop with only three USB ports; the other for an older desktop server with ten or so USB ports, but only two USB ports. Both the hub and power adapter are heavy-ish in a good way -- they seem solidly built just judging by the weight. I plugged everything in, and they so far seem to be supporting all my USB 2.0 and 3.0 devices just fine. I have not really tried to measure speed or throughput. But they appear to be well built, and having 16 ports where I had just one before is very helpful. To this point I have connected only 9 devices, mostly portable external drives and flash drives; but also have used them to connect a cell phone via USB. (I tried connecting one flakey, small office HP printer and didnt get a connection, but that printer has been having on-again/off-again connection problems for about six months, so its likely the printers problem [it is *now* connected via Ethernet, though a few months back *that* was not working]). As for this hub, again, solid and seems to work fine.

I did not know this was essential for me until I hooked everything up.

I bought this hub in January, and now in June one of the ports has broken, i.e. the light works but it provides no power or connection to devices connected to it. There was always one single stationary cable connected, so no wear and tear from changing connections, but the On/Off button was used twice daily (to turn on, and off at night). That apparently has worn out it appears. The cable and device work fine on other ports so that was ruled out. There is no warranty information anywhere for this company Acasis, neither at the parent company (Shenzhen Heng Tai Ying Technology Co LTD), so one should be aware that there is no after-return window expiration care or service, and one must simply live with defects when they manifest. Otherwise, the hub has been performing well and allowing me to actually turn off certain USB devices that otherwise dont have their own power button. But there reality in technology is that the more moving parts something has, the more can break, and this is unfortunately the case with these buttons that do have a certain wear-and-tear. However, I would expect that to happen after years, not months, thus a downrating from me.

Other USB 3.0 hubs do not provide full power to each of the USB ports. That is not the case with this hub. It provides sufficient power to all ports. The LEDs are small and will not cause light pollution in your workspace. The switches toggle on and off easily and the materials used are adequate. The power cord is a little short and is a 2-prong instead of 3. 6 months later this USB hub is working perfectly. About to order the smaller version for the other PC.

Update: Manufacturer reached out and replaced it proactively. Im changing my rating to 5 stars since the replacement has worked and really the support was great. For the money you pay for this you would think its good quality. Unfortunately it is not. Ive had it a total of three weeks and already one of the lights no longer functions! Im exchanging it and giving it another go, but I am seriously disappointed.

Mechanically, this USB hub is beautiful. Excellent fit and finish, the buttons have a satisfying click, the ports have bevelled entries for easy insertion, the connectors do not wobble within their holes, etc. Power delivery is another story. I tested each port, one-by-one. Every port could supply 1.8 Amps. Only about half the ports could supply 2.1 Amps. NONE of the ports could supply 2.4 Amps. And any port that I took over 2.1 Amps, say to 2.2 or 2.3 Amps, would weaken -- such that thereafter it could only supply about 1.8 Amps. I did not test the data speed. One minor note about the lights: The USB slots do NOT light up as shown in some of the advertising pictures. The only lights are the row of tiny blue dots running parallel to the row of USB slots. You cant see the lights shining through these little holes unless you are right above them. The good thing about this is that you dont end up with 16 bright LEDs glaring at you from across the room. The bad thing is that it can take some effort to see which ports are on and which are off.

I have had this for several months, it is an upgrade/replacement for a hub from a different manufacturer. The hub itself has just enough heft to it to prevent it from sliding around when bumping into cables connected to it. Being able to power off a port vs. unplug a USB device is very nice. The power supply is a sturdy gauge. I am pleased and I recommend it.

I needed additional USB slots to plug a few more things in. I read a number of reviews for this product and decided this was the way to go. I WAS SO WRONG! I plugged all my equipment in and then hooked it up to my laptop. It said it needed to restart to update...okay. When it restarted, I received a message stating it was Attempting to Repair. Attempting to repair what exactly? Well, it ended up corrupting my HD and OS so bad that all my personal files could not be saved off. Theyre GONE! GONE GONE! The IT person says they cant save anything. They have to basically wipe the laptop clean and reinstall. BUYER BEWARE! If I could give this product and company a negative score, I would. So unbelievably disappointed with this product. You get what you pay for. I hope someone reads this and decides not to purchase this item. As if a corrupted HD and OS werent enough. Just received a call that my HD needs to be replaced, and that all my personal data (files, audio, etc.) cant be retrieved. Thanks. There are not enough negative things to say about this product.
