> 3 dayWe live in an area where our sump pump runs fairly often. We installed PumpSpy several months ago. It was very easy to install. We checked the pumpspy reports regularly on our cell phone. All of a sudden, it started to report a ridiculous amount of water being pumped. It was so much water reported, that we suspected that the PumpSpy unit was defective. We emailed tech support a couple of times. They responded quickly, but didnt diagnose the problem perfectly, they did give us a hint. We finally realized that there was a rock stuck in the impeller blades of the sump pump. This caused the pump to not be able to pump water, but, since it was still drawing current, and running most of the time, PumpSpy reported that it was pumping a lot of water. (PumpSpy works by measuring electricity going through it to the pump). We were able to fix the sump pump. Since PumpSpy alerted us that there was a problem, we were able to fix it. Without PumpSpy, we would not have known there was a problem until we had a massive flood.

> 3 dayThey have restored ability for app to track historical data thankfully. Otherwise there isn’t really much point to this device. Every once in awhile the app can’t see the device and I’ve had to delete and reinstall app. Apart from that if you want to know if your sump pump is working, how often, and even projected water out this is the only thing I found on the market. Worth the extra money upfront since there is no subscription needed.

> 3 dayI hesitated for a couple of months on buying this product. I have a new house with a new primary sump pump system PLUS a battery powered backup sump pump in case the primary pump fails or in case of a power outage. But, I wanted some additional heads-up that was independent of my existing systems. So, I bought and installed the PumpSpy outlet (not their full backup pump system). You need to know that the PumpSpy outlet is presently supported by the phone app only...with plans on adding an integrated website interface later in 2018. This means you cant get anything from their website using your home computer for the time being. But, the app works OK. I tried both the power out and the high water alarms and my phone went off within 2 seconds alerting me to power off (and then power restored) and high water (followed by normal water restored) alarms. I plan on keeping my eye on this company to see if they start charging a fee for their monitoring service, but for now I am quite pleased. Yes, this product is not cheap, but its not expensive either compared to the value of what it is monitoring for my home. I would definitely recommend this product so far based on my experience.

Greater than one weekThis is a great product for monitoring sump pumps and for warning when there is a problem. What really stands out is their wonderful support (see later). I am away from my house for long periods of time and was looking for some reassurance about the operation of the sump pump in the basement, knowing that failure of the sump pump and a battery backup would cause significant damage to the basement. The PumpSpy arrived on time and was installed relatively quickly. I just followed the instructions and found no difficulties. Note that you will need a reasonably good wifi signal where the PumpSyp will be located. I did check the wifi in the basement beforehand using the app Wifi Analyser, and found the reception was pretty weak in the corner where the sump pump is located. Consequently I also ordered the T-Link N-300 wifi extender in addition to the PumpSpy and placed the extender between the wifi router and the PumpSpy. This arrangement has worked well. PumpSpy is setup to notify you via email and text messages of any problems, while the PumpSpy app can be used to examine data associated with the operation of the sump pump. The PumpSpy and app worked perfectly for about a month and then there appeared to be an update to the app and I could no longer access the data, with the app continually crashing. On a Saturday afternoon I emailed tech support and much to my surprise I received a response within a few minutes! I followed the instructions in the email and the app promptly started working again. If you do have issues with the (Android) app continually crashing then these are the instructions I received from PumpSpy tech support: Here are the steps you can take to resolve an issue with the Android app on your smart device. 1. Go to Settings on your phone 2. In Settings, select Apps and notifications (Note: some models might only say apps or application or application manager 3. Select App Info 4. Scroll down to the PumpSpy app and select it. 5. Click on Storage 6. Select Clear Storage (Some models say Clear App Data or a something similar. 7. You will be asked to confirm the deletion of app data - select OK. 8. Reopen the PumpSpy app. Overall, I am very happy with the product and the response from PumpSpy tech support has been outstanding.

> 3 dayThe PumpSpy Smart Outlet (PSO) is pricey, but worth the money with its promise to alert me to sump pump motor malfunction, pump jam, faulty switch, power failure, high water. My goal is to know when my primary pump fails, which means my battery-backup sump is carrying the load and I a few days to change out the primary. My PSO truly appears to solve my goal, but has only been installed for 30-days, which is too short to verify long-term performance. However, I am comforted seeing (1) pump cycles per day, (2) Cycle Length, and (3) Est. Gallons pumped. I emailed PumpSpy support to find out the metric used for Cycle Length (seconds) and what the procedure is to change WIFI equipment (push the reset button on the Smart Outlet). They responded via Email within 24-hours. The only con is Est. Gallons pumped is based on a 75-GPM pump and mine is a 50-GPM pump; therefore, my actual Est. Gallons pumped per day is 2/3 of what is reported in the app.

> 3 dayUpdate: Tech support eventually reached out via Facebook messenger. They sent me another unit that had the same problem connecting as the first. Then a 3rd unit arrived, and I was eventually able to get that to connect. Now that it is connected, it seems to work well. _______________ It wont connect either automatically with the app or manually with a computer or phone. The website login option has been discontinued. Left a message on Facebook. but no response. Called and had to leave a message with no response.

Greater than one weekI would have given 5 stars but for some reason the app ran very slow on my phone. It should be pointed out that the installation is phone based and not thru web site. I was a little prepared because I read a lot of the reviews online before the purchase. I have an android based phone therefore downloaded the purple PumpSpy app. For some reason the app runs slow for me so patience was the key. It took a good 40 minutes to get PumpSpy connected to my Wifi. I have a FIOS and so happens PumpSpy is less than 10 feet from my WiFi router. I rebooted my phone twice and re-read the instructions like 10 times and followed each step. And finally their app pulled up my Wifi so I could enter password, otherwise I was going to contact them. I have tested power outage, high water and getting pump cycle info.

> 3 dayI have this installed in my basement. I had a problem where my sump pump would run excessively. This would alert me. I was happy. Eventually the switch in the pump failed completely. Given the unusual circumstances of COVID-19, my county being on lockdown, people being advised to stay home, I leveraged the ability of this device to let me know when the pump needed to run so I could limp along until I could order a new pump and find a good time to swap it out. Great. Until I started receiving emails from the company bluntly telling me, and this is from the email, If you do not make the necessary repairs/adjustments, we will temporarily suspend your monitoring service until they are completed. Wow. So I had to stop doing my job (luckily I still have one) so I could drop everything and resolve their problem. Granted, these are extraordinary times, but there was no inquiry about if they could help, no ask if I could address the problem, just a blunt order to fix my pump. Apparently sending emails is too much of a strain for their system. Is this customer service? So again, if you want a cute toy to just tell you things are working fine, you want to see how long your pump runs per cycle, it does the job. It also gets old pretty quick. If you need something to help you out when things go wrong, look elsewhere. Device works great, but the attitude of the company leaves a lot to be desired and really diminishes the value of the device. Pretty pricey toy just to reassure you when things are good, but abandon you when you really need it.
