> 3 dayWe finished our basement last year, and prior to that we took all the necessary steps to ensure our basement stayed dry... waterproofed the walls with a french drain, scoped all lines, replaced our sump pump and back up sump. We thought we were safe. However, our sump pump and back up has failed on us several times since (once was due to the float getting hung up and us unplugging the pump while we waited for the plumber - and then failed to check on it). Thankfully we were able to catch the overflow both times before they were severe, but we felt very fortunate that we were able to do so. To give us peace of mind, we finally invested in what we should have several years ago. I installed this myself in 10 minutes, in heels. So easy to setup. I had the outlet, water sensor, and wifi all completed and operational in no time at all. Its working flawlessly so far. I let the well fill to the point of setting off the sensor to test it and it sent me the alert immediately. Wish we wouldve purchased this years ago!

> 3 dayI would have given this product 5 stars because I love it but the app stalls and you get the wheel spinning every time you bring it up without shutting the app down. I have to shut the app down and restart it and it works fine The data from the app is accurate and amazing .Hope there is an update as this feels like a easy bug to resolve bug

> 3 dayI’ve been using this since mid-January and it gives me great peace of mind knowing that my sump pump is doing its job 24-7. It’s nice to know how much the sump pump is having to pump out, too! I have had short power outages and internet pauses but everything comes back online without a hitch. I just had a situation where the unit was still connected to the internet but not transmitting data to my app and I contacted tech support (via Facebook Messenger) and the support person helped me get it working again (on a Saturday even though tech support is supposedly only open M-F!). Just had to sign out the app and sign back in. Very happy with this product.

> 3 dayAs of June 2022 I would have said not to buy but they brought back features. Background: I have 2 sump pumps in my house that run between ever 30 - 60 seconds each. This coupled with a very high amount of Iron Ocher in the ground has resulted in sump pumps dying every 6 months. They can fail in a couple different ways, always on or never on. I bought this unit because it can detect and send text messages when it detects either of these. Major issue 1. It stopped sending text messages when either of the pumps fail. I opened a ticket and they said they were looking into their carrier still nothing. * July 2022 update brought back features. Major Issue 2. After a software update they have removed any cycle history and you can only see how many its run today. I have anywhere from 1000 - 2000 a day per pump no I can only see how many as of the time I look no totals or history. I bought these because it would keep track of how much its running and save a total from previous days and I could see if there was an issue. * July 2022 update brought back features. Major issue 3. The plug socket is actually non standard and does not grip the sump pump plug which causes the plug to slip out and or spark due to poor connection. I had to manually mash the plug ends together to get it to stay in. Issues 1 and 2 are reasons for 1 star. If they fix their software I can live with issue 3 and I would rate it a 5 star.

> 3 dayI walked into this purchase with a full expectation that it could be a total miss. Connecting the unit and securing it was super straight forward. I see not issues with that part if you have the space for this device. As a network engineer getting it connected to Wifi was more complicated, not because it wasnt simple enough, but because the Android App just kept spinning during Wifi Setup. My solution was to grab my wifes iPhone and do the setup from the Apple app. This was a much smoother experience so Android users take note. I have no experience with the iPhone app after that point and I dont think my wife looks at it at all. The Android app however is a bit hit or miss. It worked fine for a few months and then one day it just stopped working after a notification that it lost wifi connection. Opening up the app each time caused it to crash over and over and over. The only thing that fixed it was to clear the cache and data on the app and then login to it. Doing this does not delete the historical data which is nice. In the end free lifetime app support is a trade off for some frustrating elements.

> 3 dayUpdate: 7/1/2022 - The cycle history has been restored in the latest app update so changing my rating and would go back to definitely recommending PumpSpy. I have used a PumpSpy for the last 3 years and up until a week ago, I would have recommended it to anyone. It has saved my basement from having water in it more than once. The feature that saved me from having water was the Cycle History. I could watch trends in real-time to see when my pump was running, how long it needed to run, estimated gallons of water it pumped, and total cycles for the day. I could also look at history from previous days and use that data to see if the cycles were getting more frequent or if they were getting further apart to indicate the water table was dropping. PumpSpy removed most of the functionality from the app on 6/3/2022. I can no longer see each time the pump runs, estimated gallons, or data from the previous day. Now it only tells you the number of runs for today and the last time it ran. You cannot see how much time elapsed between runs or an estimated number of gallons removed. With those key features being removed, I can no longer recommend this product. For the price, it is not worth the purchase if those features are not restored in the next app update. For me personally, it no longer has any of the functions that I originally purchased the PumpSpy product for and I have never experienced a company release such a useful product and then remove features after the purchase to cripple its functionality.

23-11-2024Update March 2019 - It has not started sending those alerts as I complained in the review below. Overall,I am satisfied with the performance of this device. I believe there is a lot of room to make improvements such as allow customers to setup custom notifications depending upon cycle length, # of cycles, time of day etc.. But overall I am satisfied and will rate it at 4 starts... for This unit doesnt alter for any sump pump malfunctions as it claims. It only monitors if sump pump is consuming electricity or not and just monitoring for how long or often it runs for. It doesnt even do the basic check of if pump normally runs for 30 seconds and t it gets stuck is one time it gets stuck and keep running for 15 minutes, it never picks up that. It has happened to me multiple times now, it never sends any alerts at all. To me its the most basic alert that it needs to send right away... Its waste of $150 for nothing....

Greater than one weekI replaced my Moen Pump monitor with the PumpSpy because Moen wouldnt stay connected to my WiFi no matter what I tried. This connected immediately and has stay connected. It also effectively reconnected without intervention when we lost power and lost internet for a time. All other aspects of this monitor are the same or better than Moen.

> 3 dayI have had a smart outlet for 2 years without problems. My neighbor bought one recently and we could not get it to work for more than a few days. Now both my pumpspy app and his has logged us out and wont recognize our login credentials. Called and emailed support but no response. Not hopeful.

> 3 dayAfter finishing our basement I wanted to ensure I could monitor my sump pump and be notified if it ever stopped working. After searching online I finally found Pump Spy, the price seemed a bit high but after I read into it all the features it had the price actually seems like a great value. I can now be notified if it ever stops working, can view how often the pump is running and how long the cycles are running. After receiving it I was able to get it up and running in under 20 minutes, I was able to setup text and email alerts to multiple contacts and test them out. It even notified me that the unit lost power when I unplugged it to move it to the basement (you can set it up at any outlet then move to the pump outlet after setup)! So far this thing is exactly what I wanted and more. The only downfall (and it isnt much of one) is I am also using the HyrdoCheck Hi-Lo Pump Control ( and with that plugged in it covers the status ring of the pump spy so having an addtional status indicator would be useful in this case. Also a combined HrydoCheck Hi-Lo Pump Control/PumpSpy unit would amazing!! https://www.amazon.com/HC6000-Hi-Lo-Controller-Float-Switch/dp/B006AU4L4U/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=HC6000-Hi-Lo-Controller-Float-Switch&qid=1580670045&sr=8-3
