> 3 dayAs of June 2022 I would have said not to buy but they brought back features. Background: I have 2 sump pumps in my house that run between ever 30 - 60 seconds each. This coupled with a very high amount of Iron Ocher in the ground has resulted in sump pumps dying every 6 months. They can fail in a couple different ways, always on or never on. I bought this unit because it can detect and send text messages when it detects either of these. Major issue 1. It stopped sending text messages when either of the pumps fail. I opened a ticket and they said they were looking into their carrier still nothing. * July 2022 update brought back features. Major Issue 2. After a software update they have removed any cycle history and you can only see how many its run today. I have anywhere from 1000 - 2000 a day per pump no I can only see how many as of the time I look no totals or history. I bought these because it would keep track of how much its running and save a total from previous days and I could see if there was an issue. * July 2022 update brought back features. Major issue 3. The plug socket is actually non standard and does not grip the sump pump plug which causes the plug to slip out and or spark due to poor connection. I had to manually mash the plug ends together to get it to stay in. Issues 1 and 2 are reasons for 1 star. If they fix their software I can live with issue 3 and I would rate it a 5 star.

Greater than one weekI have had a smart outlet for 2 years without problems. My neighbor bought one recently and we could not get it to work for more than a few days. Now both my pumpspy app and his has logged us out and wont recognize our login credentials. Called and emailed support but no response. Not hopeful.

> 3 dayI initially reviewed Pump Spy 5 stars but took down my review when they took away the software monitoring. That was not smart at all. After they received numerous complaints on Amazon they restored Pump Spy. Now I love Pump Spy again! I would even pay them $10/year for this service which I would not blame them for doing. At least they would add software features and make the product even better. Any more than this I would not be happy. Unfortunately, my guess, they now limit Pump Spy history to about 3 months. I miss my long term history. Why not make it available for download to a spreadsheet? Not the end of the World. Sure its a little tough to connect to wifi when power goes out or something like that but with patience you can figure out. Perhaps some people have problems with signal in basement - I added a cheap wifi extender to solve this issue.

> 3 dayUpdate 11/2022 They restored the pump cycle history and updated the iOS app interface recently. I like it just fine ( again). The notifications of internet loss and restore , high level etc are very reliable and useful. Expensive… but it’s a great product. They removed the 60 day in latest app release. Now you have no idea how your pump is operating or how much water it is processing. Their tech support will not respond to requests concerning this issue. Total fraud and now a useless product. Do Not Buy !!!!

> 3 dayUpdate March 2019 - It has not started sending those alerts as I complained in the review below. Overall,I am satisfied with the performance of this device. I believe there is a lot of room to make improvements such as allow customers to setup custom notifications depending upon cycle length, # of cycles, time of day etc.. But overall I am satisfied and will rate it at 4 starts... for This unit doesnt alter for any sump pump malfunctions as it claims. It only monitors if sump pump is consuming electricity or not and just monitoring for how long or often it runs for. It doesnt even do the basic check of if pump normally runs for 30 seconds and t it gets stuck is one time it gets stuck and keep running for 15 minutes, it never picks up that. It has happened to me multiple times now, it never sends any alerts at all. To me its the most basic alert that it needs to send right away... Its waste of $150 for nothing....

Greater than one weekFor starters, our house is on a slope and we have a ton of water underneath so much that our pump ran almost every hour. I had several floods and wanted something to notify me and contacts of my choosing. For that, the pump spy works. The application UX could be better. The reason I cant give it a 5 star rating is because of the amount of false positives. For instance, after a recent flood, I said enough is enough and we installed a gravity drain and the sump no longer runs. Every once in a while Ill open the app to find out my sump pump has ran 10 consecutive days, its not possible! Emails to the company support were returned, i explained how are sump pump doesnt run and they assured me that the data is correct. Cmon!!! You mean to tell me on a pit thats no mostly dry that my sump pump is running? This is a disappointment. I really wanted to rate them higher. ***Update 11/4**** I was contacted by pump spy and offered a suggestion. Because I have the pump sentry inverter I needed to plug the spy into the inverter instead of the way I had it which was the inverter plugged into the pump spy. I had to purchase a 6 inch AC adapter for the pump spy to fit in the inverter. Hopefully this works better for me. Im changing my initial review to a 4 star. I will consider to monitor.

> 3 dayOverall works well. My wishlist: - Can’t seem to change the time zone to Central. Am I overlooking a setting? - It takes too long for the monitoring service to recognize a lost connection due to power failure. It should be pinging the module on five minute interval or less. - Monitoring service should be smart enough to notice anomalies in behavior, such as running much more often than usual based on past history. Or give the user the ability to set alert triggers based on certain behavior. - Should recognize short cycling or long periods of continual use

> 3 dayWell our main objective was to see its coming on works for that for the most part - Its misses at least one cycle per day maybe its under the 2 second threshold but all the others are 2.91 seconds rolling at 90 min consistently then we get a 180 min gap - The history is stuck on eastern time though it does give you your time zone for last run - it seems to estimate 1 gallon per second we have a 80 GPM not accurate and you cant configure it Summary: At least you know its running for the most part but could be better with configure if you have a quick hitter powerful pump we would look elsewhere the sensitivity at the smart plug needs improved Last:Sometimes you have to lanch the app twice to see your pump. It took two shots when we set it up eg configuring the wifi app went into spin mode first time and we have 240 mbs about 12 ft from the plug....the outlet actually connected but the app no dice -

> 3 dayAll wifi connected devices have occasional connectivity issues. It just goes with the territory. My house doesn’t need a sump pump, but I have recommended the PumpSpy to three friends over the past few years who all love them. One friend contacted me recently saying his unit had disconnected from wifi and he couldn’t get it to reconnect. I tried to get him set back up but was also unsuccessful. I was starting to second guess my decision to recommend he get one, but had him contact PumpSpy hoping they would help. To my surprised they were easy to contact, called him within a day and had him re-connected quickly. I will continue to recommend PumpSpy and will be installing one in the new house I’m building.

> 3 dayI purchased notwithstanding several negative reviews hoping that the company had the kinks worked out. Nope. Powered it on and the smart app will not/does not connect to the outlet. Numerous attempts and restarts with nothing but frustration. I called tech support and the person on the phone was very nice and suggested that an app update would fix the issue, but I could easily tell that wasnt the case. The system works on initial setup by publishing a local wireless access point with the SSD, PumpSpy. When you start the configuration the app asks you to confirm that the yellow ring on the outlet is lit, indicating that the unit is advertising its WiFi hotspot. What should happen is the app sees the PumpSpy hotspot, associates with it and then has you configure the smart outlet to use your local home WiFi. After that it just becomes a WiFi client on your network. But the initial configuration is critical: If it fails then you just have a dumb plug. What was happening was I see the yellow ring, the app sees the hotspot and associates with it. And... thats it. The PumpSpy hotspot is supposed to run a DHCP service and assign your phone an IP address so you can connect to the outlet and run the setup. I was able to confirm that the unit fails to assign an IP address and the setup times out and fails. No IP address means no setup. The mobile app has nothing to do with it. There is even a manual instruction on the website for configuring the device without using the mobile app which entails connecting to the PumpSpy hotspot and navigating the the units local website: 10.10.115.1/config/scan_page_outer.html But, since the phone never gets an IP address from the hot spot it cant go to the URL. I emailed tech support and they confirmed my analysis suggested doing a hard reset of the device, but after numerous retries the same failed results. Unreal. This the most basic requirement for a smart device. I have cheap light bulbs and smart outlets that cost a fraction of this plug and they work flawlessly. This unit fails right out of the gate. My broader concern after reading the other reviews is that there is a systemic quality control problem such that even if I returned & replaced the unit I had no confidence that it would work or last for the years I expect. Shame. I really wanted to like this. I returned it the same day and ordered the Moen Sump Pump monitor. It costs slight less, appears to have better reviews and the Moen customer support is top notch.
