Wed seen this product on several of the home organizing shows on HGTV and TLC and thought it was just what we needed for the garage. Didnt have much luck finding it locally, though, but that turned out to be a good thing because we found it on Amazon for $5 less than the local (out of stock) hardware store and about $40 less than the local bike shop. Plus, we ordered two so the shipping was free! Gotta love that!! Installation was super-easy and they work just as advertised. My kids (11 and 13) can even operate them without difficulty.

I just purchased my second lift for my wifes bike, but have had a few issues with this that I managed to correct. First, in the initial set up, the screws did not hold properly so I purchased better ones and that solved that problem. Second, I just bought a new bike and the saddle was designed to tilt up slightly in the back underneath. So after the first lift, a couple hours later we heard a crash in the garage and found that the hooks slid out from under the saddle. No damage to the bike itself but it did cause the bike to push forward and knock some tools off my tool board. I solved future issues by putting a small bungee cord hooked through the hole above the hooks and then looped through the saddle. It keeps the hooks pushed in and acts as a safety net, so to speak should they come off again. Finally, as others have mentioned, the rope is sub par. It works for now but I can see I will need to replace it sometime. Before I mount the second one, Ill just buy a quality rope to start. So, although it works well, the fact that I have to upgrade with screws, a bungee cord for safety and a better rope scores it three stars. I would have gladly paid more up front for a quality upgrade.

The installation was a breeze and i am very glad that the rope was long enough, because i decided to move the location after i installed it to raise the bike higher...

Easy to install. Gets bike(s) out of the way. Works great, even rope braking device. Only complaint that kept if from five star review is that the cord used is not of better quality and shows signs of fraying.

Bought for my wifes bike and loved it so much I ordered a second for mine. A little awkward releasing the lock at times and it helps to pull on the bike to even it out on decent but very long rope (had to shorten dramatically) and solidly built product.

Good product. The rope looks a big delicate..but is strong. Fixed using an additional 2x6 and additional ties to install the product since I did not want to Nail my existing structure in the garage. I am happy with it.

The installation is solid as long as you find your studs. The pulley system works well; though if the bike gets off balance on the way up, you just rebalance with your hand. My garage has 10 feet ceilings and when the bike is stowed, the bottom of its wheels are right at 6 feet from the floor. This was a little tricky to install. But I dont think its their fault; its always hard to install things into the ceiling. There are two reasons for giving three stars and not four: 1) is that it will hold my mtn bike, but not my short wheelbase recumbent. 2) the locking mechanism requires the rope thread through a hole in a metal plate. That hole has sharp edges that eat at the rope. With regular use, I expect the rope to fray. Id say this is for putting your bike away for an extended period and not for everyday storage.

We bought two of these for our bikes. After installation of the first, we were happy to install the second. They work as expected. I agree with other reviewers that the cord could be of better quality. I think it will fray easily. Installation was a snap and product arrived packaged well.
