SAMSUNG 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E500B/AM)

Working out great as the boot/Windows and application programs drive. Had to do a fresh install of Windows 7 though as their migration program kept generating an error trying to clone the old Windows drive.

This is the best thing Ive ever did to my Macbook Pro 2009. After installing this hard drive, my mac just flies like anything. Anything you do from turning on mac to opening apps is just in instant. JUST GET THIS... WITHOUT THINKING...

This Samsung SSD coupled with 8MB RAM and the latest OS (Yosemite) made my daughters 2010 MacBook Pro better than when it was new. Launching apps and data access are incredible fast. Initially, I was going buy a high capacity HD as the $/GB ratio is the best bang for the buck. However, after reading about SSD technology and performance, I knew this was the better choice. I compared brands and prices and decided on the Samsung 850 EVO. Amazon had the best price, My daughter is impressed with the performance and her dads techie skills. I am pleased with the quality parts I installed. We had agreed to buy her a new MacBook Pro when she goes away to college this Fall, but she just might end up taking this with her instead.

This is my second SSD purchased, the first was installed in my laptop and operates much cooler and faster. This one I installed in my desktop and WOW it is fast to load up and it is so quiet, the original hard disc vibrated every little noise throughout the computer housing. The original drive made it hard to concentrate, yeah, it was that loud, but this SSD is noiseless. I will be purchasing more for my other computers.

A solid state drives speed increase alone is worth the investment with the lower power consumption and resilience against physical damage being nice bonuses. Since youve probably already done your research, you already know that Samsung drives are the industry standard whose quality and design are hard to beat. The only thing you need to consider is that the prices of SSDs are extremely volatile, so make sure to save it to your items on Amazon and check in from time to time to make sure you get the best price. As of this review, the price had fallen down to $177.

With many items Im not that fussy, but when it comes to SSD its gotta be Samsung. 10 drives (500 & 1TB, couple of portables) and Im still buying them. (getting cheaper all the time, too, never look at how much you paid for the last one, or the one before that, ... itll only make you cry.)

Yosemite had substantially slowed my Early Macbook Pro 13 inch / i7 / 500GB Hitachi HD / 8GB RAM. I contemplated purchasing a new Mac but quickly changed my mind after conducting SSD drive research. Nice and fast. Did I mention nice and fast? Acceptable write speeds which are a great improvement on my old 7200rpm drive.

Ive bought three of these over the last 5 years because they simply dont quit! Ive never had an issue with them and they will last for years.
