> 3 dayI bought this SSD to upgrade an 8 year old Sony Vaio. So far, so good. I initially used the included Samsung software to clone my existing drive. Everything seemed to have run well, but at 100% I got a message that cloning had failed. Thankfully, I had also purchased software Corsair 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive and Hard Disk Drive Cloning Kit CSSD-UPGRADEKIT. When using the included Corsair cloning software, the cloning process was easy.

> 3 daySamsung is my go to company for storage devices and this product has kept me satisfied. I use this drive in my 4 year old HP laptop and brought it back to life after the original HDD died. It has greatly improved the speeds of the computer and now lets me run windows 10 with ease.

> 3 dayBest upgrade you can make for you computer to be more responsive. I wish the prices of these drop soon and the 1TB will be more reasonable for purchase. No noise, less heat, less obstruction in your PC case, and super responsive. Ive had two of these for almost 10 months now and everything is awesome (Lego Movie tune). One is for Windows the other is for OSX, I have a Hackintosh build. I notice many people benching them and showing so I have done the same but after 10 months of usage. Benches tend be a lot better when theres nothing on the drive and fresh out the box. This drive that is benched has been running pretty much non stop as my OS drive plenty of data moved, copied, and programs installed. Its about 30% full.

> 3 dayI purchased this almost a year and a half ago. It has provided fast, trouble-free performance the entire time I have owned it.

> 3 daySo far I love it! My 2yr old Toshiba 1T drive basically turned into a snail.... 30+ minutes just to boot or startup from sleep! And it was worse from there. 100% disk access all the time and no data transfer was taking place according to task manager. (which was also a dog...) I got this 850 EVO and did a clean install of everything. Boots up in less than a minute now and disk performance is incredible! It can shut down and startup again in pretty much the same time it takes to sleep. Ive been using it for about 30 days now.

> 3 daySpeed wise its a great improvement over a regular HD. At the time of this writing Samsung is supposed to be the best brand of SSDs and it hasnt disappointed. Quick delivery too, only a few days.

> 3 dayOrig HHD was making noise so decided to upgrade to SSD before it failed. The Samsung migration software was not able to clone the HDD to SSD; kept getting failure notifications. Searched the internet and found Macrium Reflect but that didnt work as well; Ended up using EasyUSToDo for a successful clone. Good thing both were free versions. I also had to change the registry setting to reflect AHCI (right after the cloning) and in the BIOS on the initial SSD startup. Decided to buy the EasyUSTodo since it was able to resolve my cloning issue and I wanted to support them. Just wanted to point out that the Macrium cloning failure could have been due to not changing the registry & bios entries; wasnt aware of this requirement at the time. However Macrium did involve a more complex resizing process whereas EasyUSTodo does it automatically by selecting the optimize for SSD feature. Boot up went from 5 min to 1 min; guess my computer loads a lot of crap as others have gotten below 30 seconds.

> 3 dayJust upgraded a 4-yr old laptop to Win10, bumped up the memory and added this SSD. That laptop is kickin right now. Samsungs conversion software was simple and flawless. Made that entire process so much easier. Laptop is quiet, fast and much cooler after the 100k mile service. This SSD works.

> 3 dayFast. Great quality. Does what it needs to do! Included software needs to be USB but its in a disc. Still worth 5 stars.

> 3 dayThis is an excellent SSD drive, and its performance truly rates 5 stars. But....Im deducting 1 star because of the software that comes with it. Word of caution - buy the SSD, but do not install the Samsung software. Not the Magician software or the Migration software. The Magician software modifies your Windows settings by turning off some services in the new drive causing some things to no longer work. Also, the Rapid Mode actually slows down some operations. None of the enhancements in the software increase the stock performance (measurably), and boot times actually slow down. The installer for the software hangs up somewhat, and you may have to try a couple of times before succeeding. After that, you cannot uninstall the Samsung Migration software from either drive using Windows Control Panel Program Uninstall feature. (I had to use Revo Uninstaller to completely remove it.) The Migration software also installs 100mb of files to your system (data) partition in the new drive, leaving it with no free space left..........meaning you now cannot create a system image backup. You can work around this by adding a partition (new volume with no drive letter), but thats not something that should be required to get your new drive to work like the old one did. I ended up using Macrium Reflect Free cloning software to do the job........no hassles, 100% clone, good to go. BTW, my OS is Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.
