> 3 dayThis drive made a huge difference to my laptop, shortening boot time by a minute. Applications now open in a couple of seconds and the whole machine feels snappier. Huge improvement.

> 3 dayI would have given this a 5 Stars review except that I had to jump through a lot of hoops just to get it working. The following was posted as a comment to the most critical 1 star review: Tricky Firmware Issues on Initialization on Bare Drive – Required USB Drive connector that is NOT provided by Samsung., June 14, 2015 Patrick says: When I purchased the Samsung Evo 850 512SSD, I excitedly connected with a standard USB 3.0 to Sata connector (it worked with a standard Harddisk so I thought it should work when I connected it to the USB 3.0 port on my ASUS laptop. Unfortunately, it refused to detect despite following the advice above. I found another USB 3.0 to Sata connector and tested it with a harddisk to make sure it was working. Again, the Evo 850 512 SSD Drive could not be detected, despite rebooting etc. I tried using Macrium Reflect Free without success. Out of frustration and was preparing to return to Amazon I decided to rummage through my collection of USB 2.0 to Sata harddisk cases and I happened to find one and this time because it was a USB 2.0, I decided to connect it via one of the USB 2.0 ports and lo and behold, it was detected by the Samsung Data Migration software. I started the process and it took a grand total of almost 5 hours to migrate it over a 90% full 512GB harddisk. I swapped in the Samsung Evo 850 512 SSD and it booted without problems into Windows 8.1 and I have been using it without missing a beat for about a week now. Its a frustrating process no doubt. Wish Samsung would just include a migration cable or at least include advise on possible solutions if the SSD failed to detect. Hope the above helps someone else.

> 3 dayThis drive has been replaced by the more durable 860 Evo but so far with over 12K hours, rock solid and diagnostics show its still at 100% health. No reason this drive wont last 10+ years, by then there will be even better SSDs out by Samsung, Crucial, Muskin, etc. Speed are theoretical of the max the SATAIII bus can handle, if you want faster you must go PCIe like the 970.

> 3 dayGreat little drive! Included Samsung software worked perfectly for migrating from my 120GB SSD to the new 500GB Samsung. The whole process took about 30 minutes including the transfer time (about 20 minutes). I think if your source drive is bigger the process is a little trickier.
