> 3 dayHas worked out very well for me. Im using a MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10.10. I have two hard drives in mine. I have a 1 TB drive in place of the DVD drive. And I replaced the hard drive that came with my computer with this SSD. The change was very easy. At the same time I bought this SSD. I bought the the StarTech USB 3.0 to 2.5 SATA III connector. That allowed me to take my SSD and connect it to my computer via my USB port on my computer. My computer recognized it immediately. Then all I had to do was to select the GO button in the finder menu. In the GO menu I selected Utilities. There I found the disk utility. That allowed my to initialize the SSD for Apple software. Then since I had already downloaded Carbon Copy Cloner. I simple cloned my old hard drive onto the SSD. That took a little over an hour. And I was done. All that was left was to remove the bottom of the computer. Once that was done a couple more screws and my old drive was out and the new one in. The only thing you have to worry about is keeping track of the screws you take out. Keep them away from the edge of the table. Its really easy. My computer booted right up. And as for the look of the thing you couldnt tell I had done anything. It looked exactly the same. But it runs a lot quicker. That boot up was about twice as fast as it was with the old disk drive. Im using Safari for my browser. And loads pages in a fraction of the amount time my old drive was taking. I cant see a down side to this update. We all want faster browsing. This is the easiest way to make a big change in your browsing. And the speed is across the board for all applications. All you need is a $15 or $20 miniature screw driver set.

Greater than one weekThis is my fourth purchased of this drive. Tremendous upgrade for boot drive or only drive if 500GB is adequate for your needs. Computer experience much better and new life to older computers.

15-04-2025Im disappointed that the USB to SATA migration cable was not included! There isnt a statement in the purchasing information that indicates that this might be needed if you are to use the supplied Samsung migration software. They supply the SSD, the migration software, but not the critical connection piece! I cant comment on any other aspect of the product at this time, as I now have to wait for a cable to be delivered! Update: Again would have been nice during the purchasing process to be made aware that a cable might be needed. Buying the cable isnt the issue, knowing that it might be needed upfront would be helpful. Kind of like the statement that Batteries arent included in kids toys. After getting the correct cable, the Samsung migration software did not work. It would not copy the Windows 8.1 boot partition needed for my new Dell laptop. After removing the drive and re-installing the original drive, I used Acronis (my standard backup software) to clone the original drive to the SSD. Acronis clone worked perfectly....even did not complain about cloning the factory recovery partitions, which Samsung explicitly said that they would not do. Hats off the Acronis backup software....well worth the $$ spent on it.

> 3 dayThis SSD is everything Id hoped it would be and more. I mostly play WoW, and after the current expansion was released load screens seemed to start takiing FOREVER on my old HDD. After buying this SSD, not only are load screens barely even there, but even booting the system takes less than 5 seconds. If youre thinking about getting one, do it.

Greater than one weekPrice was good, dont notice a whole lot of difference in most computer activity however. BE CAREFUL opening box! HD is not securely in soft plastic tray (can loosen during transit) if youre sliding tray out of box make sure youre holding the HD cause it might fall out of the tray! You think theyd be smart enough to put a piece of tape to hold it in.

> 3 dayI replaced a failed HHD in an Asus laptop with this SSD. Perfect fit and it started right up. Easy installation and now my performance has improved over the HHD that was installed (before it failed.)

Greater than one weekLate 2008 Macbook, 2.4Mhz..Original: 5400RPM HDD, 320GB + 4GB RAM. Black magic Speeds: ~ 48MB/sec Write and 44MB/s Read. Replaced the RAM from 4GB to 8GB (Crucial) and Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD drive. Installed new OS X El Capitan. Speeds now reach 214MB/s Write and 261MB/s Read. 4-5x faster. Worth is for under $175 for the entire kit. Could do with even smaller SSD if you want to save $25. This Samsun drive is now my favorite... Nand, 5 year warranty, and works well with Macbook / Macbook Pro (2011, 2012, etc) and iMac models (2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011),,,, now I get VERY few beach balls holding up my machine.... also, one more tip, install Memory Clean (Free)

> 3 dayThis is the best and most beneficial upgrade I have ever made to my laptop. My startup boot is now reduced to mere seconds instead of a minute or two previously. I have noticed speed increases overall in the system because of this SSD. If you were hesitating to upgrade your old HDD, I would say go for it when the size you want is at the lowest price range possible. (which is quite often) You can track the price range at camelcamelcamel and get the most bang for your buck when the time is right.
