Bought this over 2 years ago to play Fallout 4 on Xbox One and other frequently played games. Loads much faster than the internal hard drive and still runs great years later even though its constantly near full capacity. The only issue Ive come across is that if youre installing a new game to it while playing another game off of it, the hard drive will disconnect and the game youre playing will crash. I assume its from issues with - or the inability to - read and write at the same time. A workaround is to just install to the hard drive first, then moving to the solid state from there takes very little time.

I recently bought this to mount in the optical bay drive of my ASUS G551J (using the ORICO Laptop Aluminum SATA3.0 SSD Caddy Tray Fit 7/9.5mm Drive(L127SS) . The drive has fulfilled all my expectations and I am quite pleased with it. The motherboard in my laptop has a max speed of SATA II for the optical bay slot, so after mounting this product and seeing SATAII speeds I decided to switch this HDD to my boot disk slot, which is a SATAIII slot. I used the Samsung cloning software, downloaded from their website, and cloned my old boot drive to this EVO drive. After switching the drive positions, editing the BIOS boot disk order, and removing the old drive boot disk label I was able to use the computer management storage manager to format my old drive (to remove the windows installed partitions is used cmd prompt to run Diskpart). To top this off I installed the Samsung Magician software and enabled raid plus optimized the HDD for max reliability (the Samsung Magician software could not enable these features when the HDD was in the optical bay slot as it needed a SATA III connection). The speed report from the magician software went up considerably after these steps. The speed of this drive is great and I am quite pleased with the software available for this product as well. 5/5 stars it I will be referring and using EVO drives from now on. :)

Works perfectly and is great for its price. Just what I needed to breath some new life into my PC. I dont know how I ever lived without an SSD.

If you are reading this, it is because you cant decide which SSD you want. First things first, a solid state drive is called such because unlike your classic spinning Hardrive, an SSD has no moving parts whatsoever. This makes them MUCH more durable, use less power, and most importantly, it makes them FAST. Samsung is considered one of the best manufacturers of SSDs, due to their in-house chips and components and performance. Whereas other companies team up with another manufacturer, all Samsung SSDs are made by the Samsung. Pros/cons for this particular SSD vs others: Pros 1. Top of the line performance 2. Potentially better quality components Cons: 1. A tad more pricey than other reliable options (Crucial MX200 and BX100, new Sandisk, etc) 2. The 840 EVO (last one) had an issue where speeds would decline over time, and Samsung said it was a software issue they could fix. HOWEVER, it is now revealed this was not the case, and myself and many others are left SOL.

A solid state drives speed increase alone is worth the investment with the lower power consumption and resilience against physical damage being nice bonuses. Since youve probably already done your research, you already know that Samsung drives are the industry standard whose quality and design are hard to beat. The only thing you need to consider is that the prices of SSDs are extremely volatile, so make sure to save it to your items on Amazon and check in from time to time to make sure you get the best price. As of this review, the price had fallen down to $177.

I have put in quite a few of these. I have not had an issue thus far. They increase performance so much! Make sure you get a mounting bracket with it.

if youre looking for a quality ssd then this is your guy. Extremely fast, light weight and I know it doesnt matter but it looks better than some of the other ssds Ive owned. Looks sleek whereas some (like the toshiba) look like a bunch of exposed microchips

Extremely fast SSD. I used it on a 5 year old laptop that I though was on its way to the garbage can. After swapping out the hardrive and reinstalling all the software. I could not belive how fast the computer was just by using this hardrive. It has been very reliable and has skipped a beat since I installed it. I would highly recommend this drive to anyone trying to updrade there computer or think they computer is ready to die. You might be surprised with the revival this SSD drive can provide.

Upgrading your PC with a Samsung SSD is the most economical way to breathe new life into an aging PC. The 850 EVO reads, writes and multi tasks at incredible speeds, enhancing boot up speed, application loading and multi tasking performance. It"s more than an upgrade, it"s a complete transformation of your PC.
