SAMSUNG 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E500B/AM)

This item has been a nightmare. It has never worked from the beginning. Two years ago I bought a 250GB Samsung 850 EVO and it has been a wonderful product, never giving me a bit of trouble. My computers (3 different ones) have never recognized this drive. It never even comes up in the bios settings as being seen by the system, any system, either plugged in directly with the motherboard cables or through a USB adapter. I have sent it in to Samsung Service and received it back as repaired. Didnt work. I sent it in again and today got a refurbished one. Doesnt work. Every other SATA and USB hard drive I have, including my Samsung 250GB works find, are recognized right off, and reads/writes wonderfully except this one. Im not a computer genius, but am pretty computer savvy being a computer tech person and having built over 300 computers from the ground up. I am sending this one back and telling Samsung to keep their crap, I dont want to see it ever again. What I wouldnt give for a 250GB that works like my last one. Lost close to $200 bucks on this deal. UPDATE: Gee, what a surprise! After I wrote this terrible review yesterday, I plugged the drive in this morning to see what would happen before I threw it away and, to my surprise, it worked. I was actually able to see the drive and format and copy to it. I cant say why, because I plugged it in just like I have 6 or 8 times before, but the computer gods are with me today. I cant give this item 5 stars because I dont know what will happen next or when, but it goes up to at least 3 stars. That being said, the drive is working just great right now, I see no problems with it; it boots my computer like a champion, and read/writes fast like it should. I cant believe it! Perhaps my faith in Samsung is restored. We shall see...

I was ready to throw my 2010 Dell desktop out the window due to long boot times and periodic freezing while the hard drive is spinning away doing god-knows-what. Replacing the hard drive with this SSD drive gave my PC new life and runs like a champ. The data transfer and drive swap went flawlessly.

the difference from the old SATA drive is amazing. This drive gave me a 7.8 on the Microsoft user experience up from 5.8

Had printed instructions on a W10 mirror - this was so much more simple. Every acct, setting is saved. Fast and easy! Could not be happier on day 1. Just changed my boot sequence and things are like nothing changed.

I upgrade my mid 2012 13inch mackbook pro. Its very fast and easy to install. My computer was so slow and now its so fast Adobe Photoshop opens in about 3 seconds fresh. You wont be disappointed in this 500GB

Rock solid performance. We have two Samsung 850 EVOs in PCs at home. One of which is an older PC and replacing the HDD with an SSD was like buying a new computer!

Samsung won a life time customer with this SSD. The software is amazing and intuitive, the drive works wonderfully, and until they prove me wrong I wont be buying any other companies SSDs for a long time.

Awesome product. Installation and cloning of my old drive was a snap. It came with the software needed to do the job. DEFINITELY speeded up my laptop. Would absolutely buy again.

I wanted to also mention how well the Samsung Migration software (download the latest at Samsung website) works too. My Sony laptop has only one SATA port in use by the old mechanical drive so I had to temporarily use a USB to SATA docking station. Software had no trouble at all cloning the old 600GB disk with Windows7 64 bit and about 100GB of data on it over to the 500GB SSD. Took a while longer than expected so I just watched movie until it finished. My Sony Vaio laptop boots up so FAST now !!!!!!!!

The migration software alone thats also included with this is worth the price of this hard drive. Not having to deal with all the hours that would have taken reinstalling everything after switching drives without this is honestly something you cant put a price on. It cloned my original drives contents, along with the separate Windows partition on my Lenovo Y50-70, making the upgrade to this faster SSD appear seamless and like magic. My desktop items were already set up just the way I wanted them, after starting up the laptop with the new hard drive installed. Presets, preferences, everything. As for the performance, the HDD that originally came with the Y50-70 was taking over ten minutes to fully boot and load up. It now takes all but 30 seconds to go from restart/shutdown state to fully-booted with all startup programs ready to go. This budget gamer PC now feels as fast as my 2015 MacBook Pro that I shelled out $3k+ for fully-equipped only a few years ago. Best Purchase in 2018. Hands down. Thank you, Samsung!
