SAMSUNG (MZ-V7E500BW) 970 EVO SSD 500GB - M.2 NVMe Interface Internal Solid State Drive with V-NAND Technology, Black/Red

This thing is blazing fast, 7 times faster than regular SSDs, but in some cases the bottleneck on game loading times is neither my SSD nor my internet connection, task manager usually says my machine is idle while the remote server gets ready to get me in game. So only marginal real-life speed increase in that sort of situation.

It’s good. A little overkill and I don’t see the performance but it’s good.

Quick to install and quicker in action!

I changed from a SATA SSD to this 970 EVO NVMe drive for my operating system and it doesnt seem to perform THAT much better. I tried updating the firmware but I still doesnt seem that much of an improvement in boot times, etc. Its fast but, maybe not freaky fast. Will write another review if I get the speeds advertised.

The first one I received the factory seal was broken which was suspicious to me. I went ahead and installed it and sure enough it had someone elses files already on the drive. yikes! Apparently it was a return and amazon simply shipped it back out again. Fortunately, they promptly did a return and sent me a new one. This one was factory sealed. So make sure you check that you are indeed getting a brand new drive, as with SSDs if the drive has been used already it will shorten the lifespan of the product.

I was using a hard disk that my laptop came with before, which had great capacity (2 TB) but was unbearably slow (< 10 MB/sec). I run an Arch Linux build and would expect boot times to be a few seconds, but unfortunately no. My hard disk would just flat out fail sometimes. So I went online to find me an SSD and this one was for some reason the cheapest, and I could not be more satisfied with what I got. As soon as I installed it, I was getting read speeds up to 1000 MB / sec! (bottlenecked by my motherboard of course) Ive never dealt with this level of responsiveness from literally anything. Applications and terminals open instantly and system installs are insane fast. I dont know why the price of this drive is so cheap, its easily one of the best on the market!

Item as advertised. Delivered on time. Returned item after finding out it doesn’t work with my 2013 MacBook Pro.

First time using M.2 drive in a new build. Ive been using SSDs in recent times. Must admit, the speed increase is quite noticeable. Ive had good success with the EVO series SSDs, so this was an obvious choice to me. Highly recommended. Hoping they have long life!

These things are just so fast. They cost the most, but in this instance, you clearly get what you pay for.
