SAMSUNG (MZ-V7E500BW) 970 EVO SSD 500GB - M.2 NVMe Interface Internal Solid State Drive with V-NAND Technology, Black/Red

Moved from a 5400 RPM spinning hard drive to this amazing piece of silicone. The difference is astounding, my boot times went from 4 min to about 20 seconds! I highly recommend scrapping all of your spinning hard drives and replacing them with M.2, specifically this one from my experience.

Not sure if everyone knows this or not, but if you want to boot from it, youll have to make sure your bios is set to UEFI. Or it wont see it as a boot device.

I think this may be one of the best purchases for my pc. Load time for windows is basically non-existed and games I put on this have crazy load times. For example rust would take 5 to 10 minutes on my old pc and ssd l, but now it takes less then 5 minutes for any server.

Installed in a 2015 15 MBP with an adapter converter board. Works fine! 2x speed improvement! Love it. Restored to Mojave.

seems fast enough works great after i reloaded everything from scratch - my original win10 installation was getting corupt so i wanted to star from scratch anyway

I never thought I would own a computer that ran so fast. Very easy upgrade for my HP Omen laptop, which comes with an empty NVMe PCIe M.2 slot. I downloaded and used Samsungs Data Migration tool, which is almost idiot proof, and migrated the OS and applications from the 1TB SATA 5,400 RPM hard drive to the Samsung 970 EVO. No kidding, it took me 10 minutes to install the hard drive and 35 minutes to migrate the OS to it. I didnt have much on the 1TB drive. I spent another 5-10 minutes verifying everything was 100%. I used Samsungs Magician to before and after migrating. Read/Write speeds improved from 367MB/s to 3,600 MB/s. Both Magician and Data Migration are free downloads from Samsungs Web site.

Fast and compact. Runs very hot, make sure your laptop or external storage container has proper cooling. Can easily overheat a device. Has huge capacity for an NVMe device. The device performance is decent, however keep in mind the larger the NVMe device from Samsung the slightly slower it goes. I have a 970 EVO 256GB as well and this device is slightly slower buy 1% to 5% depending on the operation but in ALL cases slower. This device replaces the 970 EVO 256GB on the same laptop.

This is exactly what you expect from M.2 for a price that you dont expect from M.2, especially Samsung one.

I’m not a professional when it comes to installing parts, but it was super easy to install this into my Alienware Aurora R11 and the results have been phenomenal. It’s stepped the performance up a lot and has made my experience a lot better and I definitely recommend this to anyone that is thinking about getting it!
