Greater than one weekI used to live in a house that had all wood floors & carpeted stairs... so Ive owned 2 Shark vacuums (Rockets gen1 & gen2-major improvements over gen1), which both performed very well for my needs. I recently retired & downsized to a smaller home with carpet & tile everywhere, so I decided to upgrade to a more powerful vac. (Forgot to mention I have a shorthaired dog that SHEDS.) I picked the Apex DuoClean w/ Zero-M because I felt it might be a good cross between a Rocket & a upright. After a couple of days of use, I must say Im loving the vacuum. The construction is tight & solid feeling. The suction power is better than the Rockets, and it pulls more dog hair off both the wall to wall & throw rugs - on the first pass vs many passes with the Rockets. I contribute this to the DuoClean brush in the front. I used to empty the Rockets canister 4 times when cleaning 3 bedrms & living room, the Apex had enough storage that I was able to empty it twice. The main motor is much quieter than the Rockets which tend to scream a bit loudly. The motor in the brush housing is a tiny bit noisier than the Rockets - I attribute that to the gears & extra brush. Being able to pull the power unit off and reach under the beds with the floor power unit is wonderful - the Rockets have that canister in the way and cant get as far in. I will recommend this vacuum to my friends! Now for the drawbacks, if you call them that. - A word of caution to all - since there is no longer a shield in front of the roller brush, instead having another rolling brush, this vacuum WILL eat all cords with a fierce appetite!! Id gotten into a nasty habit of just pushing the cords out of the way with the Rockets -- OOPS - LOL. - I do wish the hose was a bit longer, you do have to lift the main unit off and carry it if you want to reach up to catch a cobweb or do the baseboards. - This unit DOES NOT come with a duster attachment... It came with a crevise tool, a air assisted brush for pet hair on furniture, and a plain Upholstery Tool. You can not clean books, car interiors etc. easily. There is what is called a Pet Multi-Tool which is a combo of the plain Upholstery Tool with a duster attachment available for $19.95 on their website (Its not listed in Accessories - you have to Google for it but Sharp sells it & says it fits -- part# 247FLI850). Honestly, this should have been included instead of the plain Upholstery Tool - Thus the markdown from 5 to 4 stars. I hope this review helps. UPDATE: Shark substituted Part# 219FLIN800 instead of above mentioned #247FLI850, and it fits perfectly.

Greater than one weekSeems well built (like a tank!), picks up seeds etc (we have birds in the dining room) off the hardwood floors no problem even on the carpet setting. Just 2 complaints, and maybe theyll be less a problem as I use it, but 1. It weighs 16 lbs.....previouse model was ~12lb. 2. the hose appears to be shorter than the previous so I cant just detach the canister & set it down while I use the wand. I have to lug the whole thing. Ill probably keep it, but will come back with an updated review after a month or so.

> 3 dayLove this Shark! Works great. I do need to add some attachments for under the furniture & such but overall it’s a great cleaning tool. Now to order more attachments & love cleaning. Even my kids can push & clean the floors with this one.

> 3 dayThe main reason I bought this vacuum is because it claims to not have hair wrap. Well, it doesnt seem to work for me. I have really long hair (down to my waist) and after vacuuming a small area, I looked at the roller (see picture). Sure enough, my hair is neatly wrapped around the roller! My old vacuum (a Bissell) worked well, but I got tired of cleaning the roller all the time. Im sorry that I spent $400 on this. I would have gotten something cheaper, or just continued to use my Bissell. I gave it 3 stars because it does seem to clean well and it does pick up dog hair. I thought about returning it, but I just spent a lot of money on attachments because the reviews were so good. One review suggested letting it run for a few seconds after vacuuming. I did that and it just seems to comb the hair around the roller. I have several Shark vacuums and I like the quality, but Im very disappointed that Ill have to continue to clean the roller. Maybe I should just get my hair cut.

> 3 dayThis is the second Shark Apex Ive bought (the first was the green version, without the Zero-M) and now Im having the exact same issue as I had with the first. It is super easy to put together right out of the box- and I love how heavy duty they feel (because some vacuums feel cheaply made). The issue I am having, and had with the first is that it will just stop mid-push. The whole thing acts like it was unplugged and just goes dead. The first vacuum I thought there was a shortage in the wire piece that connects itself to the vacuum on the side. I took it back to Lowes and decided to order on Amazon (faster shipping). Ive had this one about two weeks, and I cannot even do the hallway of my home (not a huge space) without it turning off. I called CS for the first one and they wanted me to pay them $20 to send me a new cord - I paid over $300 for this vacuum, and didnt use it for more than a few weeks. NO WAY am I paying another $20 for them to send it out. He also mentioned that if the motor gets hot, it automatically shuts off. I dont know if thats whats happening here- but if I were vacuuming huge spaces or for long amounts of time Id understand. I just had my vacuum on for 5 minutes to do my tiny hallway and couldnt even get that all the way done before it started turning off. So now Ill have to send this vacuum back to Amazon- and although I love the amazing suction it has- it isnt worth the hassle to buy another one. I am pretty disappointed because I had so many people tell me that Shark was better than Dyson.. =/ I guess Ill have to figure that one out for myself!

> 3 dayI have had so many bad vacuums. This does not seem to be one of them. I have three people in my household with long hair that sheds onto the carpet and then normally gets stuck in previous vacuums. But this vacuum handles long human hair very well. I have not had the vacuum for a long time, so I am not sure how it will last, but here is what I have observed so far: Hair does not get stuck on the rollers - make sure you follow the directions and run the vacuum on the correct setting (bare floor) to get it to cut the hair off. For me, this was a big deal - and what I was specifically looking for in a vacuum. It seems to be amazing for cleaning hair so far. (I do not have a pet, so this review is about human hair - but it seems like it would be great for pet hair too.) I love how the vacuum swivels and turns - easy to handle. The tools - the way to attach tools to the vacuum (when not in use) does not really hold them well. It seems like the cord gets in the way of where to store the tools. They are not the easiest part of this vacuum to use either, but I am getting used to how to do it. The detachable part that you can carry around to vacuum is somewhat heavy, so it might be more difficult for things like cleaning stairs, but not unusable. I don’t use the tools very much, so I don’t care. The disposal of vacuum contents - I like that there is a handle and a way to drop the dirt out from the bottom. It seems like the dirt does not fly in my face as much as previous vacuums with the way this is made. The suction power seems great also. And all of the filters are easy to get to for cleaning or replacing.

20-11-2024I upgraded my Shark Navigator True Pet to the Apex and I love the new rollers. They stay hair free for a while and are very easy to get to when I have to clean them. One of the rollers is kinda fuzzy and its perfect for hard floors because it actually sweeps up the dust that other vacuums cant pick up because its technically not debris. My only issue is that its not a smooth ride. My forearms get quite a workout pushing this thing around. The swivel is not as easy as my last two sharks.
