> 3 dayI LOVE this vacuum. It’s design and quality are amazing. But the older I get, the more impossible it is to do anything with the hose detached without the entire vacuum falling onto my feet. Ouch! The hose is too short and too rigid. The Liftaway feature is ok but ‘gets heavier’ with every passing year. They DID NOT include a round brush, which is critical to doing baseboards and surfaces higher than the floor. No other vacuum’s round brush fits this Shark model, and no adapter seems to exist on the market (I keep trying). But it’s otherwise the BEST vacuum I’ve ever owned, and I’ve had Kirby, Electrolux, Oxygen, two Orecks, and two Dysons. It’s a workhorse picking up anything on any surface, gets close to edges, actually dusts the floor, eats pet and human hair for breakfast, does a fab job under beds, is extremely versatile, seemingly emits nothing out (filters and holds well), doesn’t mar furniture, and is easily dump-outable, which I zip out to the garage garbage can to do. I’ve cleaned and replaced the filters and roller over time and bought spares for the future, with no problem.

> 3 dayI started with a Shark Professional and loved it. My favorite thing was that I could take it apart and wash everything, except the motor, of course. It was a hard choice to find our new vacuum. I was open to trying other brands so we went to all of the box stores, pulled vacuums off the shelves, handled them all, pushed them around, read what attachments were included, and read every negative 1 and 2 star review online. I settled on the Shark Apex because it seemed to fit our familys needs and ignored the negatives. I am happy to say the positives outweighed the negatives on this Shark! We have 6 cats and a dog and a commercial laundry, linen business at our home and have to vacuum everyday to control the hair and lint. This vacuum is heavier than any other I have used because it has the biggest motor. Suction is unbelievable, the lift away makes it possible to get under beds, sofas, and shelving. The 2 brushes work together and are so much better on my concrete & wood floors than any other vacuum I have used. It definitely pulls in any spilled cat litter, sand, and fine particles where other vacuums, including my Shark Professional would scatter it unless you used a broom first. The self-clean brush does keep the pet hair from tangling around the brush 97% of the time, we know nothing is 100%. The best news is in that 3% when something gets sucked in, did I say this has great suction power, it is easy to get to the bushes and clean them. The ease of taking apart of the entire vacuum and cleaning the brushes, hoses, canister, and attachments cant be found in any other vacuum we tried out. The ability to wash the vacuum parts was one of our top priorities with pets since no one really wants the animal smell or the nasty to linger or be spread to other areas of your home or business. The ease of disinfecting a vacuum was never a consideration or something I thought was possible until I got my first Shark. You will need to get used to the pivot of the vacuum, it doesnt turn like those uprights that everyone is used to. This one is heavier than others but it has the highest suction and will pick up almost anything. It is also a pretty quiet machine, it doesnt scream and you can actually hear whats going on around you when youre working. The pet attachment wasnt what I expected, it appeared on the ad that it was electric and plugged into the handle. It isnt, it runs by air, the same as the rest of the brushes. There are no belts to ever replace in a Shark, when you use the attachments the handle also has a light to help you see what needs cleaned. I definitely recommend the Shark Apex. After I purchased, it appears that it is also in a recommendation of consumer reports.

> 3 dayThis is the second Shark Apex Ive bought (the first was the green version, without the Zero-M) and now Im having the exact same issue as I had with the first. It is super easy to put together right out of the box- and I love how heavy duty they feel (because some vacuums feel cheaply made). The issue I am having, and had with the first is that it will just stop mid-push. The whole thing acts like it was unplugged and just goes dead. The first vacuum I thought there was a shortage in the wire piece that connects itself to the vacuum on the side. I took it back to Lowes and decided to order on Amazon (faster shipping). Ive had this one about two weeks, and I cannot even do the hallway of my home (not a huge space) without it turning off. I called CS for the first one and they wanted me to pay them $20 to send me a new cord - I paid over $300 for this vacuum, and didnt use it for more than a few weeks. NO WAY am I paying another $20 for them to send it out. He also mentioned that if the motor gets hot, it automatically shuts off. I dont know if thats whats happening here- but if I were vacuuming huge spaces or for long amounts of time Id understand. I just had my vacuum on for 5 minutes to do my tiny hallway and couldnt even get that all the way done before it started turning off. So now Ill have to send this vacuum back to Amazon- and although I love the amazing suction it has- it isnt worth the hassle to buy another one. I am pretty disappointed because I had so many people tell me that Shark was better than Dyson.. =/ I guess Ill have to figure that one out for myself!

> 3 dayI love shark products but this one is not any improvement from the last model. Holding dirt capacity is half of what the one I bought in 2018 Features are very similar, the quality in my book has changed. Not east to vacuum with. It won’t go straight it cuts to the right. I recommended one to a friend and they have the same complaints

Greater than one weekI bought this to replace an older vacuum—does a much better job! I love the latch to remove the dust it opens from the bottom meaning you dont breath in all the dust that collets from the top. Really good suction—again, does a much better job than our old vacuum. Very happy with the purchase, shark vacuums are great.

> 3 dayThis is my second Ninja. The first was a Ninja Rotator I bought in 2018. It failed in 2020. Beyond any repair I could perform. The problem was not one noted in the 5 or 6 troubleshooting tips in their manual. Couldnt find a solution anywhere on Youtube either. It just lost suction. I just accepted my fate ($400 worth) and ordered a new vacuum. As mentioned when these work..theyve got superior suction. When they work there is a WHOLE lot to like about these. So, I bought a new model of the Ninja from Amazon. Another $400 . The Apex, which is advertised as having self-cleaning rollers (dont believe it..they still need cleaned) and all sorts of other little technologies that sounded pretty cool. This was purchased at the end of December this year. Last week it failed. Thats less than 3 months. This time it was really strange. I smelled a little burn..instantly turned off the vacuum (even though these are supposed to shut themselves down when hot to avoid damage). I went through all the trouble-shooting tips. The roller was wrapped in hair. Cleaned out. The hose was full of debris..was able to blow this out. Ive always kept the filters clean so these were not even in the equation. I will say, this vacuum is very easy to get into ANY possible trouble spot..thats the good news. The bad news is, it doesnt matter once you hit the point of no return. Tried to turn it back on. When upright, where you can typically pull out the hose and use it to spot clean, it wouldnt even turn on. When I engaged the floor cleaner it did turn on, but had no power and a very high-pitched whirl. I knew it was fried. Again, there was nothing on the internet that even mentioned this behavior. This time ($800 plus into Ninja products) I took a shot with Amazon perhaps helping me out. And they did. Amazon sent me another unit. Im hoping it will last. If it doesnt last at least 3 or 4 years I will never-ever buy another Ninja. The only reason I gave this 2 stars is based on Amazons integrity and motivation to help out a long time customer like myself. I may not always do business with Ninja, but I will always shop AMAZON!. ****update****. The 2nd replacement(3rd in all) I got is still going strong. Now, Ive replaced all carpet in my home with wood besides a couple area rugs. Undoubtedly that puts less stress on a vacuum cleaner. However, I did add a star to my original review because this 3rd Shark is working like a champ..Love It!

Greater than one weekI’ve now had this vacuum for a little over 4 years and I still love it as much as when I bought it. It picks up everything on all types of flooring. The suction has never dyed out, the filters are easy to change, I love that it comes apart for stair cleanings . It’s overall a great vacuum! Highly recommend.

> 3 dayLove this Shark! Works great. I do need to add some attachments for under the furniture & such but overall it’s a great cleaning tool. Now to order more attachments & love cleaning. Even my kids can push & clean the floors with this one.

> 3 dayThis vacuum is really awesome. I would love to give it 5 stars for how easy and useful it is to use, however the wand started going out on me after 3 years of using this machine. It was unfortunately not covered under the warranty, and costs another $40 to replace from the company. (I guess its a pretty common issue according to the internet). If I didnt have an issue with that I would have given it a 5 star review.

> 3 dayI am the former owner of the Shark Rotator Pro Lift-A-Way. <--- this was my favorite vacuum ever. I have owned it for a few years and would have never considered giving it up until it quit, but my daughter is moving into a new home that is carpeted, so it turned into a hand me down. I thought about purchasing the same again for myself, but the one and only thing that drove me nuts was that hair (mostly my own, which is long) had to be cut from the roller often - so I opted for the Shark APEX AZ1002 DuoClean with Self-Cleaning Brushroll Lift-Away Upright Vacuum. This thing has great suction. I had just vacuumed the day before I got it, then vacuumed again when I got this new one. It picked up so much dust (and dog hair) out of the carpet I was shocked. It is definitely heavier and a little more bulky than my previous vacuum, but it is just a matter of getting used to it. The headlight works great, and I didnt notice until today (Im a couple of weeks in on this thing) that the part that you detach to use the hose (with attachments) has a light as well - thats pretty awesome. The roller has not had any hair wrapped around it. It did have a string that it sucked up from somewhere, but that was easily removed by using the handy hatch that sits above the roller (no need to turn this thing over to clean it). The control buttons are on the handle, up high where they are easily accessed with your thumb- the power button, and the adjustment button. All the things that detach/reattach (the hose, the wand, and the canister) are much better on this model than the last one, except the canister is heavier and take a second to get it on the tracks to remount it. The cord is a little longer than my other Shark, but both were absolutely sufficient and longer than cords on other vacuums I have owned. Would be nice if it was retractable - not sure Shark has a model that does that. Works well on hard floors, but would go with a lighter, more agile model if thats what I needed it for; Im a broom and dustpan kind of person, so no big deal there. If you are vacuuming area rugs, you will need to have someone stand on one end, because it will suck the whole thing up (or get acrobatically creative and do it alone). The area in which the vacuum is a bit lacking would be the hose, when using attachments, is so short, but I dont know how this might be fixed. Two attachments ride on the vacuum, but one of them gets knocked off easy because it sticks out away from the vacuum some. The attachments work find, but seem cheap compared to my previous Shark. The lift a canister is heavy when holding it (detached from the vacuum). I had gone around the house sucking cobwebs out of corners and near the ceiling so there was a lot of moving around - this thing will give you a work out. My other Shark came with a base with wheels that you could set the canister on and it would roll behind you - wish this one had that option. Someone in another review mention that the cord holder thing that keeps the cord up off the ground while you vacuum didnt work well - thats true. It gets knocked out of there pretty easy. It may have been the same review that someone also mention that the deal that holds the hose (like a ball into a joint) doesnt work well. Ive only knocked it loose once. The first time I used this vacuum, I noticed it doesnt really fluff the carpet up as well as my other Shark - I think it must have something to do with the hair free roller - I miss the stripes in the carpet. I would recommend buying extra filters so that when you wash them out, you can alternate while the ones that were just cleaned dry out. None of the less attractive things mentioned above is a deal breaker. This vacuum does the job.
