Greater than one weekI am the former owner of the Shark Rotator Pro Lift-A-Way. <--- this was my favorite vacuum ever. I have owned it for a few years and would have never considered giving it up until it quit, but my daughter is moving into a new home that is carpeted, so it turned into a hand me down. I thought about purchasing the same again for myself, but the one and only thing that drove me nuts was that hair (mostly my own, which is long) had to be cut from the roller often - so I opted for the Shark APEX AZ1002 DuoClean with Self-Cleaning Brushroll Lift-Away Upright Vacuum. This thing has great suction. I had just vacuumed the day before I got it, then vacuumed again when I got this new one. It picked up so much dust (and dog hair) out of the carpet I was shocked. It is definitely heavier and a little more bulky than my previous vacuum, but it is just a matter of getting used to it. The headlight works great, and I didnt notice until today (Im a couple of weeks in on this thing) that the part that you detach to use the hose (with attachments) has a light as well - thats pretty awesome. The roller has not had any hair wrapped around it. It did have a string that it sucked up from somewhere, but that was easily removed by using the handy hatch that sits above the roller (no need to turn this thing over to clean it). The control buttons are on the handle, up high where they are easily accessed with your thumb- the power button, and the adjustment button. All the things that detach/reattach (the hose, the wand, and the canister) are much better on this model than the last one, except the canister is heavier and take a second to get it on the tracks to remount it. The cord is a little longer than my other Shark, but both were absolutely sufficient and longer than cords on other vacuums I have owned. Would be nice if it was retractable - not sure Shark has a model that does that. Works well on hard floors, but would go with a lighter, more agile model if thats what I needed it for; Im a broom and dustpan kind of person, so no big deal there. If you are vacuuming area rugs, you will need to have someone stand on one end, because it will suck the whole thing up (or get acrobatically creative and do it alone). The area in which the vacuum is a bit lacking would be the hose, when using attachments, is so short, but I dont know how this might be fixed. Two attachments ride on the vacuum, but one of them gets knocked off easy because it sticks out away from the vacuum some. The attachments work find, but seem cheap compared to my previous Shark. The lift a canister is heavy when holding it (detached from the vacuum). I had gone around the house sucking cobwebs out of corners and near the ceiling so there was a lot of moving around - this thing will give you a work out. My other Shark came with a base with wheels that you could set the canister on and it would roll behind you - wish this one had that option. Someone in another review mention that the cord holder thing that keeps the cord up off the ground while you vacuum didnt work well - thats true. It gets knocked out of there pretty easy. It may have been the same review that someone also mention that the deal that holds the hose (like a ball into a joint) doesnt work well. Ive only knocked it loose once. The first time I used this vacuum, I noticed it doesnt really fluff the carpet up as well as my other Shark - I think it must have something to do with the hair free roller - I miss the stripes in the carpet. I would recommend buying extra filters so that when you wash them out, you can alternate while the ones that were just cleaned dry out. None of the less attractive things mentioned above is a deal breaker. This vacuum does the job.

> 3 dayWe have hardwood throughout our home, 2 dogs (one is a snowstorm of a shedder), and two cats. We had been using a combination of a normal everyday Hoover, a Dyson cordless stick (very good), rubber rake, and Swiffer to try and keep up with hair, dander, dirty dust that constantly looks as though we havent cleaned in weeks (just 24 hours after a cleaning). The goal was to consolidate down to a single, versatile tool if possible. The Hoover just blows the hair on the floor around before it could ever pick it up, so almost useless. The Dyson (we like it a lot mind you) picks up the pet hair and CRAZY amounts of fine stuff, but cant pick up the most routine, everday debris if its bigger than a cookie crumb (and it hadnt better be big cookie crumb...). The Dyson also struggles with clogs, longevity, and a real loss of suction effectiveness with its non-motorized attachments. The rubber rake is a terrific way to do a quick sweep, but it leaves a lot of dust behind (aaaaand thats where the Swiffer comes in). Funny thing is, we end up a VERY sizable with a pile of hair/debris, and it would be great to finish that off with a vaccum, one blows the pile to the ceiling and the other clogs immediately. After watching several vids on YouTube (pos and neg), a couple Vacuum Wars (super thorough) review/comparisons had me convinced the Shark Apex Duo w/ZeroM was worth a try. Amazon had it for $100 off this week, so we gave it a shot. Put it together last night in 5 mins, read the warnings, got started. FANTASTICO! Played around with it open areas for a couple of minutes to get the feel of it, and the floors looked cleaned and dusted (thanks to the soft roller). Then on a lark I took it a raked pile of hair/debris and gave it a shot: Sucked that whole mess up like it was nothing. I went slow and careful, but I didnt have to go over the area twice. Have to say I laughed a little at how easily it happened. Stuff I had marked as concerns based on reviews I saw/read: Weight - I dont have an issue with it, and neither does my 5 foot wife. The thing glides on the newer rubber rollers Shark added. So, as long as they hold up (I under stand there used to be hard plastic wheels that ground down with use), were good. Manueverability - It has a twist steer setup that is nice and smooth, but it does take a little getting used to. A little heavyish. Think family minivan, not F1 race car. Dont rush, dont take your corners too fast. Smooooooth though! Hose range for wand - I saw a couple of complaints about this, but if you pop off the canister to walk around with, I dont see the issue. Cord Clip - I saw complaints about no cord clip A LOT reviews...Theres a freakin cord clip built right into the piece where you wrap the cord. Not sure how you can miss that... Versatility - Call me crazy, but I read directions. Be aware of the operative warnings and take a minute check out each release button. I found it really easy to pop the canister and wand off the base to do my stairs, baseboards, ceiling corners, and then put it all back together again. Also, popping the dust cup off and emptying was a cinch (easier than the Dyson!). I can see giving the dust cup a simple clean water rinse once a week to keep it from looking cruddy. Ill likely do another update (with a PILE of fur) after a few weeks or months, Im not usually a review writer kind of a guy, but I was really impressed right away. Thought maybe my experience might help someone else who has paralysis by analysis like I usually do.

> 3 dayI like my sharp. I love the fact it cleans carpet and hardwood/ linoleum. The suction could be a little more powerful but its agility and ability to separate from the base makes up for it. I havent used it for my dog yet but with the air filter I can tell the difference just after cleaning a room.

> 3 dayLikes: 1) Works great on hardwood 2) works great on carpet 3) Does a very good job with dog hair 4) Easy to empty 5) The feature that is super nice is how easily configurable this vacuum is. It is to separate the canister from the stem and continue vacuuming and being able to reach under the bed or couch. Its also very easy to unhook the hose for a quick spider web or something the brush wont get. The stem can be used in different lengths which is nice for vacuuming the car. Dislikes: 1) the blasted hose attachments do NOT stay in the holders designed for them on the side of the vacuum. Idk why this is such a hard feature for Vacuum engineers to get. The attachments work fine while in use. 2) As I said above the vacuum is easily configurable, however, there is a safety breaker wire that runs through each of the parts, so the vacuum will only run if that connection is complete. Sometimes the hose or the canister wont be connected exactly right and the vacuum wont start or will sporadically shut on and off like when you are charging your phone with an old worn-out wire. Its no big deal because once you know what to check its easy to fix, and it did save me from vacuuming with the canister flap slightly open one time. But it was frustrating before I knew what was going on and I suspect a lot of people leaving the reviews of randomly stops working and similar bad reviews just dont realize that the hose or the canister is not fully snapped into place. Make sure you hear and feel a solid click whenever you reconnect an attachment.

> 3 dayI was embarrassed how much dirt this picked up! Lol! I bought this to replace a Dyson and it put my Dyson to absolute shame! Wouldn’t hesitate to purchase again. Great machine. Five stars.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Greater than one weekI just happened to see someone on Facebook asking about vacuums for pet hair. Something like 80% of the responses were suggesting this specific model vacuum. I was already in need of a new vacuum so Im glad I saw that post and completed the subsequent research and review reading. I knew my Walmart bought Bissel was not getting the job done. My carpet cleaner would pull up wet globs of hair every couple feet! After vacuuming! The day I received this Shark Apex I vacuum my bedroom floor with the old Bissel. Having a black cat and a Rottweiler there was plenty of fine black hair in my carpets. Especially beside my bed where my Rottweiler faithfully sleeps at night. After Bissel did its best I gave the Shark Apex a shot. Im not exaggerating at all when I tell you I had to empty its collection bin two times. It was literally full of dog hair. Full, tightly packed with dog hair. It was absolutely disgusting to realize how much hair my Bissel vacuum had been missing the last couple years. My carpet changed color. And I can say that after vacuuming my bedroom, hallway, hardwood floors (instead of sweeping) and sucking up a dozen collection bins worth of pet hair since purchasing this vacuum... the Zero-M technology has still kept the roller brush clean. After vacuuming my sons bedroom today I laid down the vacuum today and my 11 year old son immediately exclaimed, Theres no hair in it! when he bent down to look at the roller brush. Even my 11 year old was shocked. The little rubber flaps they call Zero-M Technology actually work pretty well. Its not amazing for stairs though. Id love to rip the carpet off my stairs and go to wood treads. Vacuuming stairs is never fun, and this vacuum doesnt solve that issue. Even taking the collection bin and motor off in hand held mode vacuuming the stairs is still a pain in the butt. Especially since this vacuum does self propel itself with the brush. That is great throughout the house, but not on stairs. It does a great job on hard floors though. I used it today for the first time on my hard wood floors. It does NOT scatter debris like most vacuum cleaners do on hard surfaces. That said, I likely wont use it on my wood floors very much. Ive seen videos online showing that the tiny rollers underneath tend to break apart over time. And since I can hear those rollers on my wood floor Im concerned theyll wear down and eventually begin scratching the floors (I mean, if my Rottweiler hasnt yet this vacuum probably wont either, right?).

> 3 dayBride had a much older version of this vacuum and loved it until it died. I figured the quality was down like most good products that are new and successful....boy was I wrong. This is an excellent machine and superior to the older one we had. Momma loves it.

> 3 dayThe packaging was clearly resealed. Most everything was already pre-assembled in the box with no packaging surrounding it. All the packaging was just shoved in the box haphazardly. The vacuum has been used previously from what I could tell. I thought for $349 this was a new and not a refurbished one. Only time will tell.

Greater than one weekThis is a beast of a vacuum! It is super at inhaling hair and debris from the edges of baseboards. When you switch from hard floor to carpet, you feel the brush kick on and it pulls you forward. It is very well made and worth the money!

> 3 dayIncredible suction on both tile floors and carpet. Coming from central vacuum system it’s a little heavy but worth it. Bedroom carpet looked like it had been shampooed. Highly recommend this vacuum.
