> 3 dayGoing on three months now with the Shark Apex so I thought its a good time to review. Maneuverability is pretty good - smooth back and forth motion and no dragging around a canister. Suction is amazing on hard floors. The floors setting gets down pretty low and creates excellent suction. Carpet/rug is decent. I have a cat & dog so enough hairs to battle. My older Kenmore canister picked up hairs in one pass, but I have to do at least two passes with the Shark. The shark is very sensitive to jams, which is both good and bad. It is easy to remove jams by just removing the top plate of the vacuum head, but the Shark will also go into overheat protection mode - power will go on&off intermittently - so you need to wait a bit before starting up again. Dust bin canister fills up fast. Push-button canister dump kicks up dust and sometimes you need to give a good tap and shake. Really nothing you can do about that with a bagless vacuum but best to empty contents outside. One advantage of the bagless system is that you can actually see evidence that your vacuum is working properly, whereas it may take you awhile to notice any malfunctions with a bagged vacuum. Attachment units dont stay on during a regular vacuuming session so its easy to leave them scattered in other rooms. Overall though we are pretty satisfied. The Shark Apex is definitely one of the stronger contenders in this price range.

> 3 dayWe have two long hair Siberian cats who are drop-dead gorgeous, but the down side is that they have thick, silky, fine, MAGNETIC hair that they shed non-stop. We have two Roombas (which we still run daily to pick up the surface hair), but they just cannot pick up all of this kind of cat hair, which embeds itself in even the finest weave carpets. We bought the the Shark AZ1002 Apex in April 2020, and wow, what a difference. It did a truly amazing job on that cat hair. But. This cat hair embeds in the brushes on the brush roller, and it takes hours to pick it all out (and we cant get it all out!). Other than that, we have been super happy with it. Shark recently introduced the Stratos, which doesnt have the little brushes on the roller like the Apex does. Instead, it has fins. So, we bought it direct from Shark because it wasnt available yet on Amazon. It just arrived, and we used it for the first time. Stratos Trial: vacuum ONE 5x8 area rug. The rug was vacuumed approximately 47 hours prior to this trial. There was no visible cat hair on the top of the rug before using the vacuum. Photos show the results of using a brand new Stratos for the first time on just this one rug. I was dumbfounded at the amount of hair and litter dust it picked up. One photo shows the underside of the Stratos so you can see just how much hair got caught on the bottom of the rollers. Its not perfect, but compared to the Apex, its vastly superior. The Stratos certainly costs more than does the Apex. The Apex is a wonderful vacuum cleaner, and I can highly recommend it for most applications. But if you have pets that shed a lot, I recommend spending the extra $$ and getting the Stratos. Note: Im adding this comparative review here because Amazon wont let me put a review on the Stratos because I didnt purchase it through Amazon. Heres the Stratos link: https://www.amazon.com/Shark-AZ3002-Self-Cleaning-Neutralizer-Technology/dp/B0B2VTZ432/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2KXOIL36AU9OW&keywords=shark+stratos&qid=1660406393&s=home-garden&sprefix=shark+stratos%2Cgarden%2C69&sr=1-2

> 3 dayI bought this to use on hard floors. It works great at sucking up dust and dust bunnies under the bed. However, it will not pick up bigger pieces off of the hard floor. Things like a dry bread crumb, a tiny piece of popcorn, or a pine needle tracked in from outside will only get pushed along. You have to disconnect the wand part and pick them up individually. The suction from the wand is great, its just not what I was hoping for. I like the novelty of how the components are all modular and are easy to take apart for different jobs. The tool stowage (crevice tool, etc.) is terrible.

> 3 dayI bought this new rather than saving $90 for a renewed unit because the renewed info page indicated attachments may not be original equipment. Remember this as you read on. Youll probably chuckle. I just unpacked the Shark APEX Upright Vacuum. Documentation was minimal but it was enough for me to assemble the device. One of the features that attracted me was power supplied to the handle and the end of wand. Handy as the vacuum comes with a powered pet tool. Anyway, I got it assembled then vacuumed a section of carpet. Wow! Look at all the cat hair in there! And its much quieter than the canister vacuum were replacing. Then, before putting the unit away until cleaning day, I tried to store the attachments on the indicated holders. Crevice tool; seated firmly, check. So the other attachment must go right on this holder labelled Powered Pet Tool. Nope; not that way. No, not this way, either. Check the documentation. Wait. The printed manual, such that it is, shows a different tool. Looking at the tool sent, its not even powered! The brush is moved by the air rushing through. This is for a vacuum that doesnt have power in the handle or thee wand. Glad I took photos in case I ever have to pack this up to return it. After posting this I will seek assistance from Amazon. If they correct this issue, pronto, Ill update my review. Update: Good news: I contacted Amazon and explained the issue. They shipped a replacement product, not the part, an entirely new vacuum. It arrived yesterday, June 17. Nice job Amazon. For your part in this, you get 5+ stars. Bad news: same issue; same wrong part. Clearly, this is not Amazons fault but Sharks. So I called Shark. After several but not too many minutes waiting, I got to speak to a customer service rep from Bogota, Colombia. I explained the entire story, the two separate vacuums I had received and both had the same wrong part. He is shipping me the correct part. Expected dlivery date (from California): June 24. Stay tuned.

> 3 dayI LOVE this vacuum. It’s design and quality are amazing. But the older I get, the more impossible it is to do anything with the hose detached without the entire vacuum falling onto my feet. Ouch! The hose is too short and too rigid. The Liftaway feature is ok but ‘gets heavier’ with every passing year. They DID NOT include a round brush, which is critical to doing baseboards and surfaces higher than the floor. No other vacuum’s round brush fits this Shark model, and no adapter seems to exist on the market (I keep trying). But it’s otherwise the BEST vacuum I’ve ever owned, and I’ve had Kirby, Electrolux, Oxygen, two Orecks, and two Dysons. It’s a workhorse picking up anything on any surface, gets close to edges, actually dusts the floor, eats pet and human hair for breakfast, does a fab job under beds, is extremely versatile, seemingly emits nothing out (filters and holds well), doesn’t mar furniture, and is easily dump-outable, which I zip out to the garage garbage can to do. I’ve cleaned and replaced the filters and roller over time and bought spares for the future, with no problem.

Greater than one weekI’ve now had this vacuum for a little over 4 years and I still love it as much as when I bought it. It picks up everything on all types of flooring. The suction has never dyed out, the filters are easy to change, I love that it comes apart for stair cleanings . It’s overall a great vacuum! Highly recommend.

Greater than one weekHello: I had the power cut-off problem immediately on first use and was freaking out after reading others had this happen as well. The problem seems to be fixed by moving the crevice tool from one side of the holder to the other. It was pushing the hose connection out of contact. So far this has solved the power cut-off problem. If it doesnt solve it completely, I will post again. The problem definitely is the hose connection into the tank for me FYI. Otherwise, this vacuum is amazing. It is stiff to maneuver at first, but loosens up a bit after the first use. The suction is off the charts and it cleans the wood floors beautifully. It is easy to use the different configurations to get into all the nooks and crannies. My favorite configuration is holding the tank and disconnecting the long wand from the base to do the stairs or get into difficult places. I can see how this vacuum would be hard to use for someone shorter or older with less upper-body strength. I am 56 and in shape and it can be hard to move around some objects as the handle is very long and the tank a bit heavy.
