> 3 dayThis is hands down one of the worst microphones Ive bought, especially because its $400. Not only are there 0 instructions on how to set the mic up, all they give you for spending $400 is literally the microphone...nothing else, not even a damn cord. After spending $400 on this dog water microphone you have to spend another $400 on a preamp, xlr male, xlr to usb, xlr to aux...like its insane. I have never in my life struggled putting a mic together more than this P.O.S..Not to mention the fact that there is 0 place on the vast internet that tells you how to set the mic up for a pc with a straight answer. Like shure is probably the worst company ive experienced and ive been to blockbuster. I am completely flabbergasted and the lack of care this company has for their customers and not a single complete answer of yes or no for whether you need a gd preamp or not. Absolutely unbelieveable and I will be telling every single person I know to never in their life purchase a product from shure!!!! 0 STAR QUALITY!!!!!

> 3 dayI cant get over how good this mic is. Its blown me away every day Ive used it. I didnt understand the hype until I got one myself and I just kind of died a little because it sounds so good. It responds INSANELY well to compression. Like, insanely well. You can compress the living sh!t out of this mics signal and it still sounds good. It picks up truckloads of low end, which I love. Its nice to have that as an option with my vocals, or my kick drum, or whatever Im using the mic for. Honestly, it works great for everything but acoustic guitar. So, feel free to use this in whatever setting you want, with whatever instrument you want, except an acoustic guitar.

Nadders
Greater than one weekI bought this as an upgrade for home vocal recording and Im not disappointed. I have owned many mics and this is by far the best for noise reduction and clarity. I use it with a Scarlet Solo and Logic Pro X and it makes post production simple as theres no hiss to get rid of. Ive been using an SM58 which did a great job but this just has the edge. Its pretty robust too so Im hoping it will last for a fair few years before it needs replacing. As others have said, it is fairly quiet and the gain on the interface is almost up full to get a decent signal but this works fine for now for what I need it for. I might buy a Cloudlifter in future to boost the signal but for simple vocals/VoiceOver purposes it isnt really needed with the equipment Ive got.

> 3 dayFor anyone looking to get in to podcasting, broadcasting, etc... You cant go wrong. Keep in mind that you will need a decent preamp. This mic has been a staple for a long time and for good reason. I have a more expensive mic that I use, but I will come back to this one frequently. If you have the money and the preamp to get the gain, I recommend without hesitation.
