> 3 dayI bought this to replace my seagate, this one feels good for those thats always on the go. I use this mainly for my music and videos. Its been great. The only knock is that the plastic tabs on each side of it that holds the USB cable keeps coming off and I always have to look for it. That is all.

> 3 day»Ive been using this drive at work and home and am very happy with its performance and design. I have the 1TB model which when formatted in Windows using NTFS ended up being 932GBs. »The outer casing consists of hard plastic and the green silicone material you can see in the photos. The green silicone is actually what is surrounding the hard drive inside, protecting it from drops and is how the suspension system works. The green silicone also has a slot that goes all the way around which is used to hold onto the included USB 3.0 cable using 2 clips. The 2 plastic pieces simply screw into each other on each side using 4 screws. The USB port has a flap in the silicone to keep it closed and free of dust when not in use. There are also 2 openings on the bottom plastic part where 2 green strips come through and provide grip on whatever surface you put it on, preventing slips. Simple and effective design for protection, grip and convenience. »There is no external powered needed for this, power it taken from the USB port on whatever device you are using it with »Copying to and from the drive was speedy and I the speeds I received when running a speed test were about what I expected for a traditional hard drive over USB 3.0. I attached a photo of my results which were 120.0MB read and 115.8MB write for sequential writes. Im not sure if Silicon Power wanted me to do this, but I did it anyways, I unscrewed the 4 screws to see what drive was inside. I know Silicon Power does not manufacture hard drives like Western Digital and Seagate do. I was hoping to find a brand name from one of the very few large drive manufacturers and I am happy to report I did. Inside is a 1TB standard Seagate laptop drive. Not some cheap white label drive, a quality brand drive. Good choice. »I have not tested the ability to survive a drop because I am actually using this on a daily basis so I am being slightly cautious. I am however throwing it into a backpack filled with things and plopping it down on a desk multiple times a day, you dont want to treat any standard hard drive with moving parts too terribly, but so far so good, no problems with performance or any strange issues. »Overall this has been a great drive for me and I recommend it to anyone looking for a more durable external drive to take on the go, if anything changes I will update this review in the future. *I received this product at a discount in exchange for an honest review, I hope this review was helpful.

> 3 dayI am extremely displeased with this product. Due to the large amount of positive reviews, I chose to ignore the few negative ones and have unfortunately suffered the same issues described in those reviews. While the overall product appearance looks to be tough and reliable, immediately after transferring all of my data to the device, about 2 weeks later my computer stopped detecting any information. Prior to that, it was working fine and I kept it plugged in to my brand new desktop. After a couple of days of no success, I brought it in to my work IT specialist who advised that the device was non-responsive with multiple warnings that in order to use the device, I would need to format the disk. Clearly this was not an option since I had already backed up my lifes storage on this device. He explained that unfortunately we would need to format it and then run an emergency recovery program. I was able to retrieve some information but nowhere near my 50GB of information. I am extremely upset primarily for the fact that I am left to accept the fact that the device destroyed everything I had, I am out of the return period. I sincerely have never been so disappointed by a product. The least I could have is a refund but clearly, I no longer qualify.

Greater than one weekThis external hard drive has worked great! A great price and exactly what I needed. I pulled all my photos, music, and movies off of my laptop to save memory and they easily fit on to this 1 terabit external hard drive with plenty of memory to spare. The USB cord that comes with it does not clip in as well as shown in the photo. The tiny black plastic clips come right off. But thats relatively inconsequential overall. It is well constructed with a sturdy hard plastic outer frame. Update: I liked this so much, I purchased a second one for my wife. The hard drive is compatible with both Windows and Apple Operating Systems so no worries there either. Hope this review was helpful! Let me know if you have any questions.

Greater than one weekI have had no problems with this. Its functioning as my auto-backup for my computer and works well. The cord holder is kind of gimmicky. It will pop out and its something that my dog would eat without a second thought if he found it on the floor. If you are really into cord systems, this probably isnt a great cord system. I like the fact that there is a rubbery plastic piece that covers the usb plug, which helps to keep out dust and some (maybe) environmental moisture, but it isnt a weather proof seal by any means. This should work fine for people who dont have extreme requirements for their external hard drive. It seems like it would travel well and I like the lime green color.

> 3 dayLike it so far. I havent dropped it yet, but I know its just a matter of time. My biggest complaint about it is that it has uses the large size USB plug instead of a micro. Why?? Every other gadget I own has a micro-usb port, and now I have to keep track of this units cable that has no other purpose. I ended up buying a USB A Male to Micro USB Female Adapter for my unit that somewhat makes the issue better.

> 3 dayIm extremely disappointed with this product. After initially purchasing in 2015, I had no issues with the drive until recently. About a month ago I attempted to retrieve some old data from this drive; within minutes of plugging in the drive, I was informed all of my data on the drive was corrupt - over 300gbs of highly important historical data. I was able to purchase recovery software, which thankfully recovered >90% of all my lost data, however, ever since then, my external hard drive has been rendered useless, essentially failing to transfer any information after reformatting and attempting to wipe clean any and all data. Ive reached out to Silicon Power to go through their warranty process - Ill update this review accordingly depending on the outcome of the customer service provided. DONT EXPECT THIS DRIVE TO KEEP YOUR DATA SAFE. UPDATE - It has been a month now since I completed the initial warranty process and shipped my hard drive to their location in California. On their website theyve indicated, they have not received the hard drive, although I find this highly unlikely given the amount of time since I shipped the device. I also called their customer support number which resulted in no one answering the phone...Dont buy from these guys. Period.

> 3 daySturdy and durable. Claims to be shock and water resistant (and feels like it probably is). Plugged into an old HP laptop with Windows 7 and was able to due a full image backup from the computer to this Armor drive with no errors (and didnt require a driver installation scenario). Then tried to image my Windows 10 machine but, Windows 10 is a little tricky. The drive was easily recognized but, you have to figure out how to get Windows 10 to behave with regards to completing an image/backup. The drive was easily recognized and allowed file transfers. The only problem was getting Windows 10 to complete the imaging processing (which is a known issues with Windows 10). UPDATE: Trying to get a basic backup of my Windows 10 Home ASUS laptop. After it sits processing for a couple of hours it ultimately completes the process but returns some error stating the backup couldnt complete. Have tried several times and it seems like its a Windows 10 Home issue. Online search on the error does not resolve the issue...frustrating.

> 3 dayColor is nice. I dont like the cord holders. They are sharp to the hands. I took them off. The speed is 30% less than my 500GB Silicon Power orange version. Both are 5400 rpm, so I dont know why. Im talking about making system images for Linux and Windows. Also slower to copy paste 18GB mixed files from a fast SSD.

> 3 dayGood drive. The only issue I have with this is a design flaw with the way the cord attaches for storage. It attaches by little rubber mujiggers that fit into a groove that goes along the sides of the drive. The problem is that every time I take the cord on or off to use it the stupid rubber thinga mujiggers pop out. Lucky I havent lost them yet.
