> 3 dayI bought this drive almost 5 years ago. It served me well for quite a bit of that. However, there are flaws in its design. Before anything else, it’s the fact it uses a USB-A port for its I/O. While it was made prior to the introduction of USB-C, it just feels awkward to use that. Additionally, it can’t be used with USB-C computers via a USB-C to USB-A cable. It has to be used via an adapter.

> 3 dayThis drive seemed a little slower on large file transfers than the other model Armor drives that we have. After looking at the other drives, I reformatted this one to NTFS and partitioned it into 3 less than 500gb drives. That brought it up to the apparent speed of the others. Still a great drive.

> 3 dayI purchased this because of the description of the heft and protection described in the specifications, plus the price and the 3 year warranty is unbeatable. So far the unit seems to be perfect, the speed is terrific. I do have a couple of minor complaints, the cable is two short and on this model the cable storage is useless. The two small black attachments that hold the cable are almost in possible to reattach into the groove should they come out. In fact after one week of usage I have lost one of the cable holders. If I were to ever order another I would get the model shown with the orange colored 4 molded grooves - I still give it 4 !/2 stars

Greater than one weekTheres a couple of leds that should indicate at which speed is the disk working, blue for USB3 and red for USB2. The shock resistance of the disk is amazing. Ive not performed any drop tests to see how it handles falling off (obviously) but Im confident that it should withstand your regular accidental drops from a table. No word on the water resistance, which probably isnt precisely great, but should survive to a little bit of light rain. The disk likes to go into sleep mode quite often, which might be a little irritating for sparse access to it. I recommend doing all of your read/writes in one big batch. I guess the disk does it to reduce the risk of shocks causing any damage. The little hooks for the included cable are easy to lose. So, thats a bummer. Overall, it is a good disk for the traveler that, hopefully, wont get soaking wet.

> 3 dayIm extremely disappointed with this product. After initially purchasing in 2015, I had no issues with the drive until recently. About a month ago I attempted to retrieve some old data from this drive; within minutes of plugging in the drive, I was informed all of my data on the drive was corrupt - over 300gbs of highly important historical data. I was able to purchase recovery software, which thankfully recovered >90% of all my lost data, however, ever since then, my external hard drive has been rendered useless, essentially failing to transfer any information after reformatting and attempting to wipe clean any and all data. Ive reached out to Silicon Power to go through their warranty process - Ill update this review accordingly depending on the outcome of the customer service provided. DONT EXPECT THIS DRIVE TO KEEP YOUR DATA SAFE. UPDATE - It has been a month now since I completed the initial warranty process and shipped my hard drive to their location in California. On their website theyve indicated, they have not received the hard drive, although I find this highly unlikely given the amount of time since I shipped the device. I also called their customer support number which resulted in no one answering the phone...Dont buy from these guys. Period.

Greater than one weekSo i was looking to back up my computer one day to reset and went to back up on my hard drive and guess what hard drive was broken and appeared to be dropped. Boom all that data just gone. I wasnt going to let that happen again so i was looking for a really tuff and rugged hardrive. Something that could take a beating and be some what water resistant . This was buy have the best thing i was looking for at the best price i could find. I use macbook pros and this hard drive was very easy to set up and start backing up files. A60: - Its Fast! - Rugged design, hard plastic casing with soft corner to absorb impact on drop. - Water resistance, which mean splash proof. I did not submerge it in water for this test. - I have dropped this a few times and my child has gotten a hold of it and still works great I use it about every 2 weeks without any wrinkles.

Greater than one weekSo far, so good. Downloaded my whole computer onto it the same way I would use a flash drive (USB drive). The case holds the cord, which I appreciate so that it doesn’t get separated. I haven’t dropped it, but it seems hefty enough to be able to take a hit. Also not planning on purposefully testing for waterproofing or any other things that might risk it breaking, but if they accidentally happen, I will update my review. So far, I am very pleased with the quality — especially considering the price.

> 3 dayColor is nice. I dont like the cord holders. They are sharp to the hands. I took them off. The speed is 30% less than my 500GB Silicon Power orange version. Both are 5400 rpm, so I dont know why. Im talking about making system images for Linux and Windows. Also slower to copy paste 18GB mixed files from a fast SSD.

Greater than one weekAt first a number of file folders became corrupted and inaccessible. Eventually, I lost all my data and the disk just said it needed to be reformatted. fortunately it was backed up on a different hard disk. This disk wasnt very old for totally biting the dust. Ive never had this problem with an external drive before and have some that are over a decade old and still work fine.
