> 3 dayI needed something that could handle a variety of yarn sizes. Had bought one from Hobby Lobby that was garbage. This was a good price and could hold larger amounts of yarn. Simply tighten onto a ledge or table, feed it through and off you go. It winds yarn into a nice firm cake. I did a good amount of research on winders, and im glad I went with this one.

> 3 dayHad hubby get me this for Christmas to replace the one Id had for years. My old one was ok but I got a lot of yarn vomit on the center pull cakes. Id heard that with this winder no more barfing would occur!

> 3 dayI had borrowed a friends winder prior to my purchase and liked the Stanwood product much better. The parts that would be prone to breakage are all metal on this version so I expect it will last for many years. It is easy to use and works very smoothly.

07-06-2025It saves me the time balling up my yarn by hand so I can spend more time crocheting or knitting.

> 3 dayI am loving this winder. I am so glad (on the advice of another reviewer) that I spent the extra money on this winder. It is very heavy duty and it works flawlessly. It can make larger balls than some of the cheaper models. I went through all my half used skeins of yarn and balled them. I ball all the skeins I buy that typically center pull in clumps. They store so neatly. The best part is how beautifully they work as Im using them. No longer fighting with a tangled mess. When I am done with a project, I will re-ball the yarn so I have a nice tight ball for next time. Its fun to use and takes about 1 min to ball a 7 oz skein of yarn.

> 3 dayBought this as a christmas present for my wife ... had a wee bit of a time trying to figure out how to use this puppy - the printed instructions which came with it are semi useless - ok in showing how to thread the thing - but useless on how to actually use the thing - thankfully - YouTube has about a zillion+ videos on how these silly things work - spun up a half dozen thread cakes & the cakes do come out perfect for her crocheting - so - shes happy = happy wife = happy life :)
