Stanwood Needlecraft Large Metal Yarn/Fiber/Wool/String Ball Winder - 10 oz

> 3 dayReceived this a couple of days ago, and I have rewound over a dozen balls I wound with a cheaper imitation (same size) ball winder that did a horrible job. Dont waste your time and money on an generic brand - buy the Stanwood from the start. Everything is SOLID. Gears turn very smoothly. Very little stress on my hand when winding. Creates a large cake with center pull that is not wound too tightly. The first jumbo winder I purchased wound the yarn so tightly I knew it was going to stretch it out and ruin it before I ever got to it. I have ZERO regrets in purchasing this and Im very happy to recommend it to everyone who works with yarn.

> 3 dayThis is the Bentley of ball winders. Yes it is more expensive than the others and it is fantastic. Winds perfect balls not lose. This yarn winder will out live me! Youll never have to buy another one.

> 3 dayWorks perfect. Its sturdy and heavy. It took me only a couple of minutes to attach the bobbin and yarn guide and make my first cake of yarn. I have made about 8 cakes so far of different weight and ranged from about 3 to 8 ounces without one problem. Highly recommend.

Greater than one weekReally glad I bought this product. I did a LOT of research on yarn winders before finally deciding to go with this one. Easy to set up, well constructed, and works like a charm. Worth every penny. Its so wonderful to now be able to transform all of those balls of yarn into 10 oz. center-pull yarn cakes. Its really fun to wind the yarn into cakes too. :) The clamp is pretty sturdy and stays in place when you crank the handle. I was actually able to make cakes larger than 10 oz. although if the cakes get too big, they will start to rub up against the metal threading bar in front of the bobbin and will jostle the unit. Ive made a ton of cakes thus far (well over 50) and its still going strong. Really glad I got the larger size; its nice to not have to cut the yarn before Im done winding all of it. Very satisfied with this yarn winder and would definitely recommend it to others.

> 3 dayMy local yarn store had this ball winder in their shop and after seeing how nice and smooth it caked the yarn hanks, I had to have one. I am not disappointed! Its a nice, sturdy winder. I havent wound any yarn heavier than a worsted weight yet, but I would be surprised if it couldnt handle a bulky yarn. So glad I bought this winder.

Greater than one weekJust rec’d in today’s mail. I have already wound three hanks of yarn and it works beautifully. Still a whole drawer full to wind, but I’m pacing myself. It’s sturdily built, easy to use and will keep me in “cakes” for years to come! My only suggestion is in the instructions they need to use the same terminology throughout. At the beginning they refer to the feeding wire arm. Later in the instructions it’s referred to as the distal wire arm. I was pretty sure what they were referring to, but I did google it just in case. I highly recommend this!
