Great so far. I like that it looks pretty good, opens and closes with a button (but you of course need to pull the stem down after you press the button since the button just collapses the umbrella cloth so the umbrella goes from mushroom to a vertical stem), and covers a bigger area. So far for some moderate wind, its been okay. Quality of the metal doesnt look to be as good, but overall the umbrella seems to meet my major criteria of a compact yet pretty robust and wide umbrella to protect my clothes from getting wet.

Not the smallest umbrella you will find but for me it hits that sweet spot between too small to do any real good when open and too large to be practical for anything this side of dueling. Opens to a size large enough to give a decent-sized guy and his bag satisfactory coverage, but can still be tucked in a larger backpack or strapped to the side of messenger bag. Construction is solid, handled windy days well enough, strong seems, smooth mechanisms and thicker fabric.

looks and feels very solid; have not tested the durability in wind yet.

I purchase this umbrella about a year and a half ago, and after using it in a torrential downpour last night, felt compelled to write a review for this fantastic item. In the eighteen months I have owned this umbrella, it has kept me dry in countless rainstorms in New York, including ones with significant wind gusts (such as those found in the wind tunnels that form between the citys skyscrapers). Not once has the canopy or the aluminum supports failed, even as Ive watched those around me ditch their crumpled, destroyed umbrellas in sidewalk trash cans. This is especially amazing given how big this umbrella is, canopy-wise. It really is golf-umbrella sized, and as a 63 person, it keeps me fully dry from the knees up in raining sideways storms, and fully dry in vertical rainstorms. Despite its impressive reach, it still folds down to a very compact size - bit slimmer than the 17oz Swell bottle I keep in the other side pocked of my backpack. The included sleeve is also very nice for storing the umbrella, wet or not. And finally, Ill mention the opening and closing mechanism. It is so great to be able to pop it open with one click, and not have to worry about fighting a slider to push up the canopy. Moreover, as youre approaching your destination, it is quite easy to click the button again just as you open the door, and have the canopy collapse down. No more fighting to close an umbrella outside, resulting in you being as wet as you would have been had you not had an umbrella at all, just before getting to you destination. A quick click of the Totes, and you can walk in easily, staying dry throughout.

We bought for our daughter for college and we just moved her home and I asked her about it and she said it never would open up correctly so she never used it. Such a bummer.

    Greater than one week

I needed a compact collapsible umbrella that I could toss on the side of my backpack; golf umbrellas are cumbersome to carry. This is one of the few large collapsible umbrellas, and while the build quality is very good, there are a few flaws. 1. The main problem is that its not vented, and for an umbrella this big, it means that it gets blown around in the wind a lot. The umbrella can catch even mild gusts of wind and drag you a bit. This kind of makes you feel like youre carrying a big sail, even when theres mild wind. During gusts, I can only point this thing toward the direction of the wind and hope for the best. 2. Due to wind, one of the supports on the umbrella broke during use (thanks Amazon for the prompt attention to this). 3. Warranty. There is a great lifetime warranty, but it costs $5, plus your cost of shipping, and a wait of 2–6 weeks, to get a replacement item. Not worth it, Id say, unless if you have another umbrella to hold you over for 2–6 weeks. Im on the lookout for another one, but this thing works well enough that its the best option out there for a large collapsible umbrella.

Works great so far. Ive only used it a couple times. Perfectly replaces an old similar size umbrella I had that developed holes in the canopy. I dont know that Id call it golf size, but it is a canopy that could be sized for two persons, or its a generous size for one person. At the same time, it folds down almost as much as my other totes with the smaller canopy. Glad it was available in lovely, light blue! The handle is fully covered in rubber-like material, so its very grippy. The open-close mechanism operates smoothly. Measures 50 diameter straight across from spoke tip to spoke tip. Measures 47 diameter straight across from flat side panel to flat side panel. Canopy measurement, I feel, is somewhat irrelevant, as long as you have the straight-across diameter measure(s).

This umbrella is pretty great for students. Its wide enough when open to shield a person and a backpack, yet small enough when closed to carry around daily. It will most likely fit in the side, water bottle compartment, if you need a place to stash it when its not in use. It has withstood the admittedly mild Californian climate so far, and Im sure it will continue to do so. While its true that the underside may feel a bit damp after using it in the rain, it has never led to actual water droplets leaking in so far. Also, it may be a bit large while walking on the sidewalk though, so be careful not to poke people as you walk by!

Smooth opening/closing mechanism. Sturdy and durable, as well as great coverage. I would definitely buy another one if needed.

Well made for the price, it’s a bit heavy and not too compact.
