> 3 dayI had my previous Totes umbrella which I purchased at Macy’s for 15 years and the automatic open and close snap broke. I ordered this from Amazon and did not even last 6 months. I cannot figure out if Totes has reduced their quality of product or was this a cheap Chinese imitation. Either way sending to Totes for replacement. If it’s a fake Totes I am sure they will let me know. Will update later.

> 3 dayI needed an umbrella that would not let the rain drip on my back and feet. This umbrella does the job perfectly. You know it works when people ask you where you got it. However... Today, for the first time, I was using the umbrella while running errands. As I was getting back into my car, I pressed the close button and then tried to pull the black part down the shaft to lock it in the closed position. As I was almost at the bottom, the umbrella popped back out, cutting my fingers in several places. Use care when closing the umbrella because the arms are not very well finished and can cause paper cut wounds or worse if you are not careful. I am saddened to report that after 5 months, the thread holding one of the arms in place has broken and there are two spots where the material has worn through or been punctured.

> 3 dayI bought this umbrella to get ready for El Nino here in California. Honestly the build quality is decent but not too far from being best. Really light weight and quite durable did I mention big? Its bigger than an your average umbrella could work for 2 people. The open and close mechanism helps especially getting out of the car. Now the reason why Im giving it a 4 stars is due to the fact that when it closes it doesnt retract back to its small original state. However when you actually open it, the whole thing goes up and opens. It would help if it comes back down too when you close it because then you dont have to reach for it when you are sitting down on your car seat and virtually have 0 chance of getting wet. Now just for my $0.02 I may have to look for another umbrella that retracts back all the way down and might just give this to someone else. #TheSearchForThePerfectUmbrella

> 3 dayIve had smaller umbrellas, they were OK, but I really like the size of this one. It feels sturdy, the mechanics of it work as advertised. Good umbrella.

> 3 dayStill works well after 1 yr plus.. Closing is abit not as smooth as before but thats due to accidental misuse by friends & family who dont understand auto close n open. Otherwise, it is a great product, will buy again after current one is retired.

> 3 dayThis is a large umbrella. It folds very compactly for its size. The design is well thought out. The handle is relatively comfortable to hold, and the auto open auto close feature is extremely useful. This feature means that you press the button once to open the umbrella, like any spring-loaded umbrella, but pressing the button again collapses the umbrella automatically as you get into a car or pass through a doorway. Once you are inside and dry, you can simply compress the telescoping component and it is ready for use again. Well worth the cost, this umbrella has yet to give me a reason to wish I had bought any other.

> 3 dayThis umbrella is nice enough: it is compact, sturdy, and automatic. Unfortunately the plastic breaks down after a few years. The handle becomes gummy and then sticky, leaving gunk on your hand.

> 3 dayFree umbrella broke after 14 years, had to pony up some money. A site I love for quality products highly recommend 2 umbrellas. I wanted the other one, but was not going to spend $49. So bought this one. Arrived today and I was surprised with how much you get for $23. First off, it is the thickest, sturdiest umbrella I have had in my hands. Next you open it up and the size of the umbrella is extremely suprising for how compact it is. So overall this is a great buy for the money. Only bad part, it was manufactured in China. But it does have lifetime warranty. So buy it online, and it will store the receipt for life. Something happens print the receipt and send it back.

> 3 dayLasted a season, maybe two, before it broke. Submitted a warranty claim which involves mailing a form with a portion of the umbrella cut off and included. Never received any replacement or correspondence back from Totes after several months. I would not trust their warranty claim, and will look for a more durable umbrella.
