> 3 dayIts definitely not one of those umbrellas you buy from a street vendor, but from Totes, Id expect better. It was probably the second or third time using the umbrella when one of the support arms swung down and hit me in the head. When I inspected it closely, one of those super weak looking eyelets had broken and a portion of the support arm came loose and swung down. I was going to go through the whole return process but learned it takes WEEKS and actually costs you money to ship the FAULTY umbrella back! I just used some pliers and threaded a sturdy paper clip through where the eyelet was, bent down the ends and clipped off the extra. Good as new, no, probably better than new as I fully expect other eyelets to break. So far, after a few months, no more have broken but this thing carries a lifetime warranty. Youd expect it to be made better.

Greater than one weekI love this umbrella, I have three of these. The span of the umbrella is perfect; its big enough where Im covered even when its a down pour, but small enough where I dont feel like I have to constantly adjust for other pedestrians in NYC. The auto open and close feature makes this umbrella so easy to handle. The only thing that could improve this umbrella is if it had that extra wind resistant layer on top.

> 3 dayI needed an umbrella that would not let the rain drip on my back and feet. This umbrella does the job perfectly. You know it works when people ask you where you got it. However... Today, for the first time, I was using the umbrella while running errands. As I was getting back into my car, I pressed the close button and then tried to pull the black part down the shaft to lock it in the closed position. As I was almost at the bottom, the umbrella popped back out, cutting my fingers in several places. Use care when closing the umbrella because the arms are not very well finished and can cause paper cut wounds or worse if you are not careful. I am saddened to report that after 5 months, the thread holding one of the arms in place has broken and there are two spots where the material has worn through or been punctured.

> 3 dayWorks well but theres noticeable slop when open which is why I took off a star. I bought a smaller no-name umbrella to keep in my vehicle and it seems to be better made than this.

> 3 dayI usually use the golf umbrellas by Totes which are very sturdy with a big canopy, however I sometimes nee a more portable version which is why I tried this one. I find it very lightweight and handy, and while not as sturdy as the golf one, its sturdy enough.

> 3 dayGreat umbrella! I was looking for a compact umbrella that still offered a large coverage area and this one definitely does. I have never accidentally hit the button to close it on me and have never had an issue with wind. It seems very strong as I have had to use it in a few windy situations, but it always holds up well. It easily covers me and my son and is small enough to fit in the back pocket of my car seat. No complaints!

Greater than one weekThis is a large umbrella. It folds very compactly for its size. The design is well thought out. The handle is relatively comfortable to hold, and the auto open auto close feature is extremely useful. This feature means that you press the button once to open the umbrella, like any spring-loaded umbrella, but pressing the button again collapses the umbrella automatically as you get into a car or pass through a doorway. Once you are inside and dry, you can simply compress the telescoping component and it is ready for use again. Well worth the cost, this umbrella has yet to give me a reason to wish I had bought any other.

> 3 dayWorks great so far. Ive only used it a couple times. Perfectly replaces an old similar size umbrella I had that developed holes in the canopy. I dont know that Id call it golf size, but it is a canopy that could be sized for two persons, or its a generous size for one person. At the same time, it folds down almost as much as my other totes with the smaller canopy. Glad it was available in lovely, light blue! The handle is fully covered in rubber-like material, so its very grippy. The open-close mechanism operates smoothly. Measures 50 diameter straight across from spoke tip to spoke tip. Measures 47 diameter straight across from flat side panel to flat side panel. Canopy measurement, I feel, is somewhat irrelevant, as long as you have the straight-across diameter measure(s).

19-11-2024You are probably looking at this review and thinking what is this guy saying in the title protects me from rain? Of course it does its an umbrella! Well let me explain. Any Umbrella Ive ever bought from my local Walmart has never lasted more than a day. Seriously? We live in 2020 learn how to make a damn umbrella. So last week before I had this Totes Umbrella I was left with a broken one so I had to walk into work fully soaked and unprotected from the rain. Therefore I had to specifically mention that Totes lives up to their name and this umbrella definitely does its job and protects me from rain.

> 3 dayNot the smallest umbrella you will find but for me it hits that sweet spot between too small to do any real good when open and too large to be practical for anything this side of dueling. Opens to a size large enough to give a decent-sized guy and his bag satisfactory coverage, but can still be tucked in a larger backpack or strapped to the side of messenger bag. Construction is solid, handled windy days well enough, strong seems, smooth mechanisms and thicker fabric.
