Greater than one weekThis umbrella took me a while to find; even though I searched Amazon, I didnt see this one. A website praised it, and provided a link, so I gave it a shot. Ive only used it once, but its much better than my last umbrella. Its as large as my old umbrella when opened, yet its several inches shorter when closed, so Im able to fit it in my bag. Also, it has a large flap to keep it closed, whereas my last umbrella had two small straps to perform the same task - and didnt do it nearly as well. And maybe its because its brand new, but more rain seems to come off it when you flick it dry, so it doesnt drip as much when youre on the subway. Very pleased with it so far

> 3 dayI love this umbrella! I had three same one for about 4 years before I finally left it someplace and had to replace it. It does everything you could want in a compact umbrella: folks up small and opens big. It fits readily in my briefcase. Pushbutton open and close is super convenient when you only have one free hand. Extremely durable and made from quality materials. Its worth a few extras bucks over the cheap substitutes you can buy on the street.

> 3 dayIt works beautifully -- and its big enough actually keep a person dry in a rain storm. The auto open/close is not just nice to have, it is a wonderful necessity.

> 3 dayThis is a large umbrella. It folds very compactly for its size. The design is well thought out. The handle is relatively comfortable to hold, and the auto open auto close feature is extremely useful. This feature means that you press the button once to open the umbrella, like any spring-loaded umbrella, but pressing the button again collapses the umbrella automatically as you get into a car or pass through a doorway. Once you are inside and dry, you can simply compress the telescoping component and it is ready for use again. Well worth the cost, this umbrella has yet to give me a reason to wish I had bought any other.

04-06-2025I bought this umbrella to get ready for El Nino here in California. Honestly the build quality is decent but not too far from being best. Really light weight and quite durable did I mention big? Its bigger than an your average umbrella could work for 2 people. The open and close mechanism helps especially getting out of the car. Now the reason why Im giving it a 4 stars is due to the fact that when it closes it doesnt retract back to its small original state. However when you actually open it, the whole thing goes up and opens. It would help if it comes back down too when you close it because then you dont have to reach for it when you are sitting down on your car seat and virtually have 0 chance of getting wet. Now just for my $0.02 I may have to look for another umbrella that retracts back all the way down and might just give this to someone else. #TheSearchForThePerfectUmbrella

04-06-2025Its definitely not one of those umbrellas you buy from a street vendor, but from Totes, Id expect better. It was probably the second or third time using the umbrella when one of the support arms swung down and hit me in the head. When I inspected it closely, one of those super weak looking eyelets had broken and a portion of the support arm came loose and swung down. I was going to go through the whole return process but learned it takes WEEKS and actually costs you money to ship the FAULTY umbrella back! I just used some pliers and threaded a sturdy paper clip through where the eyelet was, bent down the ends and clipped off the extra. Good as new, no, probably better than new as I fully expect other eyelets to break. So far, after a few months, no more have broken but this thing carries a lifetime warranty. Youd expect it to be made better.

> 3 dayWhen my old umbrella died, I began to search for a replacement. After doing some research, I settled on this umbrella. It is exactly as described and it works well.

03-06-2025Sturdy umbrella, opened it is quite large but folded it is only slightly longer than a compact umbrella. Love that it is auto-close; makes getting in the car much easier. I had a Totes compact umbrella for more than 10 years and it never let me down. Recently left it in a car that I traded in so replaced it with this one. Very satisfied!

Greater than one weekI purchase this umbrella about a year and a half ago, and after using it in a torrential downpour last night, felt compelled to write a review for this fantastic item. In the eighteen months I have owned this umbrella, it has kept me dry in countless rainstorms in New York, including ones with significant wind gusts (such as those found in the wind tunnels that form between the citys skyscrapers). Not once has the canopy or the aluminum supports failed, even as Ive watched those around me ditch their crumpled, destroyed umbrellas in sidewalk trash cans. This is especially amazing given how big this umbrella is, canopy-wise. It really is golf-umbrella sized, and as a 63 person, it keeps me fully dry from the knees up in raining sideways storms, and fully dry in vertical rainstorms. Despite its impressive reach, it still folds down to a very compact size - bit slimmer than the 17oz Swell bottle I keep in the other side pocked of my backpack. The included sleeve is also very nice for storing the umbrella, wet or not. And finally, Ill mention the opening and closing mechanism. It is so great to be able to pop it open with one click, and not have to worry about fighting a slider to push up the canopy. Moreover, as youre approaching your destination, it is quite easy to click the button again just as you open the door, and have the canopy collapse down. No more fighting to close an umbrella outside, resulting in you being as wet as you would have been had you not had an umbrella at all, just before getting to you destination. A quick click of the Totes, and you can walk in easily, staying dry throughout.
