> 24 hourI like this fans features, and its dimensions. From a security standpoint, I have it mounted into a single-hung window, and the window is secured with a locking device. With its low profile, even if someone were to push the unit out of the window from the outside, the opening is too small to crawl through. I like the mounting system of variably sized foam pads that fill the gaps between the unit, and the window. The only drawback with the pads is that some of the corners are slightly rounded, resulting is some small gaps that small insects could pass through. I stuffed a small cotton ball into each gap, taking care of the problem. The remote has been working well, which is good, as I have limited access to the front of the unit. My headline, being great for smaller rooms is that the unit, while pushing a good deal of air for its size, is a touch too small for the room I have it in. I use the unit to blow cool outdoors air into our living room after the outside temperature is lower than the indoor temperature. Our living room is about 400 sq. ft. with a vaulted ceiling. The unit certainly helps cool down the house, at the cost of taking a long time. We leave the unit on overnight, and turn it off when the inside-outside temperatures equalize.

> 24 hourThis is idiotic. Ive purchased many items that work with alexa or work with google home but they always, ALWAYS have an option to use their own app (iHealths bp app, LG Thinq, etc). So why do I have to use stupid Alexa? Also where the hell is the remote control? Are you seriously not including a remote because Alexa takes care of that instead ? Holy cow what a joke! It seems to work just fine. Doesnt go as far as most Vornado fans (usually like a spotlight or an air cannon), but it s strong enough to pull bathroom, food, and other smells out of the apartment. The foam rubber pieces are a nice change from the usual window fan plastic plates and accordions (which I usually have to modify with cardboard and packing tape anyway). Touch controls are neat looking, but they disappear as soon as youre done with them, and you have to tap them back on, then use them. Why? To save 0.00004 watts of electricity? The whole reason I bought this was to install it at the TOP (not the bottom) of the window, as to pull the bad smells up and away, as well as to avoid pulling the cold air conditioner air right outside seconds after its created. I was HOPING to use some remote software THAT ISNT ALEXA to turn it back on if theres a power failure. However to install this up there, Id have to use alexa, or keep a ladder handy. If I knew the remote was NOT INCLUDED, I would have just bought the regular remote one. If you dont like alexa, DO NOT BUY THIS.

> 24 hourI bought this fan to use in my apartment as an odor extractor for the time I cook. Its the best decision ever! I put it in my living room window, since I dont have one in the kitchen, I turn it on when I start cooking and it pushes all the food outdoors out. Fully recommend!

> 24 hourEffective fan even though it is quiet. Remote control takes some getting used to, but its small size is appreciated. Only concern was the quick on/off cycling when the set temperature is reached.

> 24 hourremote battery failed after 2 days- i replaced it. other than that its a nice fan, Quiet. can suck outside air in or blow inside air out with just a touch. Can be placed in and out of the window easily. the blocks that come with it are weird. they dont snap together or anything. I just used cardboard to block the rest of the window.

> 24 hourMy number one priority, in purchasing a window fan, was to get something QUIET. I had spent more money than I would have liked purchasing the traditional two fan window units that are so common today. Based on the promise and supporting reviews that they were very quiet fans, I purchased both a popular Bionaire and a Holmes fan. They were ok, but not nearly good enough. I wanted a fan as quiet as my ceiling fan on low and those two weren’t even in the ballpark. So through more searching, I eventually landed on the Vornado Transom. It’s not a traditional fan by any stretch of the imagination, but a few people said it was extremely quiet. Desperate to find something quieter than the others, I placed my bet. This fan is ACTUALLY quiet! On it’s lowest setting, it is a whisper compared to the other two. No, it’s not ceiling fan quiet, but I would compare it to the sound I’d hear coming through the vent when my central air is running. That’s pretty quiet! On high, yes the fan is much more noisy, but it moves a lot more air when on high. To be clear, low speed moves plenty of air, and high speed is not more noisy than the other models on high. Another difference between the Vornado and the other models, is the the fan speeds are SIGNIFICANTLY different. The difference between low and high on the other models is marginal at best. With the Vornado, low is ACTUALLY low… and high is ACTUALLY high. So you can choose between a quiet fan that gives you a nice breeze, or a noisy fan that moves air with quite a bit of force. Again, this unit on high was about as noisy as the other fans on high. On low, there is no contest. Do you get what I’m saying yet? THIS FAN IS VERY QUIET… MUCH quieter than any other window fan I’ve tried. So that’s the big sell for me. Other good features: The temperature selection works well. I set it up for 70 degrees, and it effectively turned on and off as necessary to bring in the cooler outside air. Since I keep the fan on low, I barely noticed when it turned on and off at all. This fan also gives you great privacy because you can’t see through it whether it’s on or off. A couple of not so great things about it... First, the foam blocks are not great. I needed an additional block that was 1/4 inch wide… I either had to try and squish a 1 inch block in that space (nope) or use something else to seal it. Vornado should rethink this strategy or include 1/2 and 1/4 inch blocks too. Considering the high quality construction of the unit, and the steeper price tag, Vornado should come up with something more eloquent. Secondly, the remote isn’t wonderful. You have to aim it DIRECTLY at the unit while you are DIRECTLY in front of it. And the range of the remote seems to be a pitiful 15 feet or so. I don’t know if that’s typical of this unit, but it’s definitely not great. Despite those two shortcomings, I still give the unit 5 stars based on its EXTREMELY LOW noise level given the decent amount of air it moves. If I ever need an additional window fan, this is the one I’ll get.

> 24 hourThe fan is quiet and fairly good at generating an exhaust while it is superior at an intake of air. The remote works adequately well and is certainly not to large. I prefer to use the control on the console. The device can fit well, though it would be better if the blocks intended for use in filling out the window size were a bit more clear in the directions for their configuration. My suspicion is that those who report that there is a bad fit of these blocks have inserted them upside down or backwards, which is easy to do. A top arrow on the inner aspect (or the outer if people do not want to see an arrow) would be an assist so long as the package was clear on which side that arrow should face relative to the fan front. Beyond that, there is a consideration of use for these devices in a more temperate climate. The only thing near as bad that I can imagine for use of a fan such as this beyond a failed function altogether is the need to remove and replace the fan on a seasonal basis. The work involved in replacement and removal and the possible damage in storage are less than seasonal placement of a window air conditioner, but is still bad. I might have hoped that the company could have a fit face-plate available to act to cut any passive flow of cold air to the interior when the weather was inclement. If fitted with some foam and arranged to clip to the front as an add on accessory, this could allow the device to sit in place during colder periods without a need to remove and reinsert. I have made a rubber sheet shade to fit the front of the device with a cloth backing and fixed it to serve this function myself and the seal is very acceptable to make the device more appropriate for when a temperature plunge might occur. Given the nature of the volatility of weather fronts lately, a device like this could be useful to allow the device to be more serviceable, even if a temperature in South Carolina or Texas might plunge for a few days in an area unaccustomed to the alteration. Such events are far from unknown and the device left in place could make its locale in the house uncomfortably cold for a few days or require removal and replacement in a matter of a few days with marked inconvenience. Thought could be made for this simple fix.

> 24 hourFan installation was easy, battery for remote was dead, deleted a star for that. Window sealing spacers are the best Ive ever used, phenomenal material. Set it and forget it display plus minimal window opening for installation, happy with purchase thus far.

> 24 hourI’m in an apartment, in a tiny town, with only a window unit in the front room and no way to get air to the back (down a hall) where my bedroom is. It is often much cooler outside than in my apartment, all night. This fan was meant to help me sleep at night, bringing in the cool air when there is zero breeze outside. First night, it was so quiet and the room cooled off so well, I got one of the best nights of rest in over a month. By day 2 it seemed louder, but I thought no way…by day 7 I couldn’t leave it on while I tried to sleep. And now a month later, I can only turn it on in the hours before I go to bed, with the door almost shut because it’s almost louder than i can reasonably put my tv. I am quite disappointed, and grateful for winter(my least favorite time to live in colorado) I’m a student in an intense program, I’m stressed and tired anyways, but this fan caused a couple sleepless nights that I just can’t afford mentally or physically. I’d return if I could, as it is, it’ll go in the trash in 7months when I graduate and go back home.

> 24 hourproduct came in a neat package, instllation was a breeze, but there were a few hole/gaps that needed to be plugged.. good thing i had a window seal handy. after instllation it was time to start it, turned of and worked great in manual mode. but the thermostat mode is poorly designed. I bought it cuz my heat is controlled by landlord central AC and everyone in the house likes it hot and I like it cold, so bought this, but this thermostat ispoorly placed and records the temps poorly. its 75 at my desk but the thermostat says its 53 at the window. clearly the poor implementation issue. the fan body itself since its half outside in the freezing colds of east coast must be freezing and this is throwing the thermostat off.... so my 2 cents to the manufacterers is 1. Please design the next version to be compatible with remote temp sensor. 2. Please improve the insulation cuz I can feel lite breeze/ chill ness when near the fan. which clearly means its leaking cold air from outside to inside.
