I really like this fan overall, but there are a couple of questionable design choices. The Good: - This thing is quiet. Even at the highest setting, it doesnt sounds like a typical fan on high. - Moves a surprising amount of air. Its basically a really long scroll fan. - The fan only moves in one direction. There is a physical diverter that rotates inside to switch between intake and exhaust. The best part is that this diverter closes when you turn the fan off, which somewhat seals off the outdoors. - For a fan, this thing is pretty stylish and low-profile. It doesnt take a lot of vertical space up in your window so a lot of light can still flow through. The Bad: - The foam blocks to seal off the sides are just stupid. I couldnt get them to fit around the fan in my 27 window, which is an exceedingly common window width. I had to buy separate weather stripping to seal it off (pictured in attached photos). I again want to stress that the foam blocks didnt work in my brand new, modern window. - In auto mode (where it blows until you reach a set temperature) the fan tends to cycle on and off a lot, as in every 30 seconds. It seems like this could be easily solved by reprogramming the fan to allow slightly more temperature swing - The thermostat seems somewhat inaccurate, because it senses the temperature in the windowsill and not the room itself. Overall, I still like this fan a lot. If you just want to use it in dumb mode where it blows and blows and blows, its a great fan. If you want to use the Auto feature to try and set an exact temperature in the room, it could be a little better.

I recently started sublimation as a new craft. The fumes are not healthy and I needed a good way to exhaust right at the table where the sub ink is being heated. This fan is perfect for that. It fits in the bottom of the window where I have my heat press. A caveat is that it is not airtight. As my craft room gets the hottest of the afternoon summer sun and we air condition the rest of the house, this was not a good thing. The foam spacers they provide do a decent job but, in my window anyway, they would possibly let in small insects as well as heat. This is not a problem for me, as the fan is simple to install and remove and I just do such when I am ready to sublimate. If your house is not air conditioned, then it would be a simple thing to use foam board or something similar to cover the small gaps between the foam spacers to keep insects out. It all depends on your situation and what you want it to do. Its a nice little fan. I do not regret the purchase. ;-)

This fan is very quiet. Probably the quietest fan I have had. The fan is not very powerful, but it is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a fan that was more on the quiet side that provided sufficient air flow and this does. If you are looking for a fan to blow you away with air, this is not for you.

So this fan is great nothing bad to say about the actual fan. The foam blocks however is a different story. As you can see from other reviews the foam blocks do not create a tight seal on the tops. In fact it probably would but there’s a half inch piece of foam on the fan that’s taller than all the blocks. So my main suggestion would be to remove the thick foam with a thinner piece.

Vornado TRANSOM Window Fan with 4 Speeds, Remote Control, Reversible Exhaust I have just received this today, 3-24-22. Well, the first thing about this unit that I am REALLY disappointed in is the Remote. It does not work unless you are standing directly in front of the unit. This kind of defeats the purpose for having a remote in the first place, especially if it is being used in the bedroom. Considering the price of this fan, I am really surprised that Vornado does not have a better remote available for this unit. It would be nice to have a remote that shows on the remote what settings the fan is on. If you are looking for a remote controlled fan for your bedroom or other room that is not in a window directly in front of you then this may not be the fan for you until there is an upgrade in the remote. Come on Vornado, please upgrade your tech! If you have metal windows, you wont be able to keep the screen on if you install it in the bottom channel, as directed. I had to set the bottom lip under the fan on the inside window sill/stool just in front of the metal window frame, otherwise, I would have had to remove the screen to make it fit. It will be interesting to see if it leaks onto the sill if it rains. It is a pain to have to take the fan out of the window when it rains. One of the reasons I purchased this is because it is marketed as weather resistant. I will follow up on this review after it rains to determine if it can be left in the window. The air flow is pretty good but the TURBO setting is not as strong as expected. I like the temp control feature but I will have to test this out a little more before I know for sure that it works as stated. I love that his fan is relatively quiet and the low profile doesnt block the outside view. & the exhaust feature is a plus to be able to pull stale air and excess heat out of the room. Well, thats it for now. I will follow up after a few more days after it rains. For now, 3 star review is mostly due to the limitations of the remote. UPDATE 4/2/22 : The fan can stay in the window when it rains without leaking. Thats a plus! In my area, I have thick yellow pollen so I purchased PollenTec Clean Air Window Screen Air Purifying Filter Material and cut it to the height of the fan and the width of the window. Since the back of the fan fits snugly against the window screen & due to the closed sides and the way the back of the fan is made it fits perfectly between the window screen & the back of the fan to act as a pollen filter without hindering the air flow or letting in pollen around the edges. It can be easily cleaned if it gets clogged by removing it and spraying it with water. The thermostat is not so accurate, but can be tolerated. This fan could use a bit of updating with the remote and thermostat but all in all it meets my needs. It probably wont work well for a room larger then 12 X14.

I bought this fan to use in my apartment as an odor extractor for the time I cook. Its the best decision ever! I put it in my living room window, since I dont have one in the kitchen, I turn it on when I start cooking and it pushes all the food outdoors out. Fully recommend!

    Greater than one week

It does what it says... blows air in or out effectively. The problem is that the fan is too loud even on low, and there is a bit of an electric whine to the fan as well. Probably not a problem if youre installing it in a large room and youre not near the fan, but definitely a problem in the small office I needed it for. Its possible I got a defective, but either way I am returning it.

Fan installation was easy, battery for remote was dead, deleted a star for that. Window sealing spacers are the best Ive ever used, phenomenal material. Set it and forget it display plus minimal window opening for installation, happy with purchase thus far.
