Id love to give this a stellar review. Does what it says, not a lot of noise. Cant complain too much, especially since theres very little on the market like this. Just want to put a few points in that made me give 3 stars instead of five. * Of the two units we bought, one was missing a remote * If you look at the picture, you can tell that the foam blocks arent the full height of the unit with the foam strip on top; bugs are going to get in. I dont know why they didnt make the blocks taller. Huge oversight. * The so-called weatherproofing isnt. You can see a lot of light filter through. You will have to take this out once it moves to colder temperatures. Otherwise, the UI is pretty good. My favorite is that the display turns off and the power light dims when in use, but no setttings changed. Very good at night when you dont want light distractions. I didnt think the noise was that much, especially compared to other window units Ive had. We did not have any problems with install. Keep the blocks close to your hand. I was easily able to hold on to the unit while I inserted the blocks. Maybe you need two people, but dont get scared off by the reviews saying its hard—you do have to force them in and thats actually good. We also used these on window frames made in 1910. All in all, great unit, assuming you get the remote and the blocks work for you.

I installed this window fan in under 5 minutes! No tools needed! I purchased the Alexa Enabled model and it took about 10 minutes to get it connected. If you will use the Alexa app, connect the device to your app PRIOR to installing the unit in the window. There is a Barcode on the bottom of your unit. If it does not connect the first time follow the directions on your Alexa app! (You must press the power button until the unit blinks.) My review: First we live in Southern California. Our house was built in 1943. Most of the houses in our neighborhood do not have AC. Needless to say it gets hot but not compared to other areas. Second, I wanted a horizontal fan to sit on top of my armoire. I was NOT looking for a window fan. (We have shutters and I thought the shutters would not accommodate a window fan.) Then I came across the Vornado Transom and I am so happy I purchased this fan! FIRST I installed the fan (as it is meant to be) in the window. - It fit in my window perfectly (ignore the other review of the person showing the modular foam does not fit. Look at her pics the fan itself is not installed in her window correctly.) - my shutters with large slates ALMOST closed completely. If you have shutters with the smaller slates I am confident your shutters will close. - note, the fan works best if you select a window that does NOT get direct sun. It worked like a champ in my window facing north. The window facing west, not so good. SECOND. I put the fan on top of my armoire. OMG! it is keeping my room cool. Yes I know this is NOT how the fan is supposed to be used but the fan will stay on top of the armoire! The fan itself is light weight, quiet, sleek and works like a charm! I love this fan! In fact I’m buying another unit for my Sunroom/Office. 100% would recommend this fan!

Put this fan in our bedroom a week ago and LOVE IT. Whisper quiet on low and moves plenty of air. Thermostat seems to work pretty well. Fan was off on the cold mornings and kicked back on when the outside temps warmed up. Since we have a first floor bedroom we wanted a fan you couldnt see through and this one is perfect. Highly Recommend.

I just purchased this fan for a bathroom window, where I often sneak a cigarette instead of going outside when Im busy working and short on time or if it is miserably cold or hot outside. The fan is attractive and the spacers to seal the gaps on the sides worked well for me (but are not air-tight). (I have 10-yr old Pella vinyl windows with screens.). The reversible air flow option is convenient and works just ok. However, in the exhaust mode, when strong winds blow against the fan from outside, the outside air still pushes past the fans and into the room even on the highest exhaust speed. When the fan is in the OFF position, it is advertised that the fan automatically goes into Closed Mode. The accuracy of this statement by the seller is of questionable accuracy. It is true that when the fan is turned off, the fan blades close in on themselves; however, this does NOT close the fan from in/out air flow. There are uncloseable gaps around the fan blades allowing wind, outside smells (car exhaust), and pollen to blow into the room. The fan is easily installed, but it is not meant to be taken in and out simply with each use to combat this problem. The idea is nice and might be more functional in temperate climates, but in Atlanta, it gets HOT and I will not be able to leave this in the window in the window anytime outside of the few weeks of fall we get. Other than the mediocre exhaust fan power, it is not a whole lot different than just leaving a window open given the inability to close the vents. I would not have expected to pay anything more than $45 for this product rather than the $100 price tag.

By far this is the best window fan I have ever owned. Quiet enough to run all night while sleeping, sets up easily, has multiple speeds, reverses direction with a touch of a button, looks good and even has a nice simple remote. Another overlooked feature is that when turned off, the fan mechanism rotates to a closed position to block air coming in or out. I have seen other reviews say it costs too much but you get what you pay for. This fan blows away the competition.

Originally I purchased a Sharper Image PORTAL fan, which is also made by Vornado. The concept of the low profile fan was very appealing. Unfortunately this fan was defective and had to be returned. I felt that maybe if I went with a higher level fan I would get more fan for the buck so to speak. The CFM rating was a bit higher as well. This unit is slightly wider than the Sharper Image PORTAL model, and slightly taller. Once fitted to my window I powered it on. First impression was its nice to have a remote and a touch control panel. Second impression was to disable the thermostat setting. This was nice that it could be disabled, however when powered off it loses this setting and you have to press the temp button 2x to disable it. Not a deal breaker but off is off to me, not reset back to factory between uses. The remote is small and nothing too impressive about it. the round button is not hard to manage. The touch controls are okay, but you first need to tap it to wake it up then you can select your changes. there are 4 fan speeds, each with a noticeable difference. 1 & 2 are very quiet and 3 & 4 are increasingly louder, but not very loud overall. Air moves directly forward and IMO it moves a good amount of air for the type of fan it is. Reversing direction is simple, one button press and it changes air flow direction. This is one of the biggest reasons I purchased this fan, was to exhaust the kitchen cooking odors. This fan on 4 is much quieter than the hood vent. Overall I am happy with this fan, it serves its purpose, is it worth $99, not remotely. This is a $50-65 fan all day long. When powering off, you can still see through the fan, this indicates that its not completely sealing off the outside. This fan will only be used Spring/Summer/Fall seasons. Id gladly pay the $99 for a fan that could seal off the Winter so it could be used then.

Make Sure You measure your window:) I got mine to work but it is outside the replacement window with the window handle holding it, I have a screen so it placed well, good over all design, I think they went for quiet more than power. My old Holmes (they dont make the model anymore) was much more powerful, but much much louder. I use it for exhaust only, it does not pull smoke well, and Im 5 ft. away on level 4. We will see how long it lasts I do like the design.

I tried both android&ios no joy. AE is not worth the extra money. The insulation foam blocks dont squish enough to fit in the groove of the window. But they can be trimmed with a sharp blade painfully bit by bit The fan itself is as quiet as a bathroom fan.

Ive ordered this fan three times. The first and third time was fine, and thats what this review is about. The fan works great. Climate control and remote are awesome futures, but Ive bought the fan mainly because of the exhaust future. One-click of a button and any smoke/vape is out. Now the bad. As other reviewers said, the foam spacers arent the best. The way Ive solved this problem - is the Airconditioner Weatherseal Kit from Home Depot. One piece of urethane foam below and one above the fan will seal it well. And the third piece goes in-between the windows. Also, try to squeeze in the foam pieces (that come with the fan) during an installation. Use the ones that are 1/4 to 1/2 inch larger (per window) than needed. Theres no point in them being there if theyre loose. Finally, about my second (faulty) order. Ordered a Vornado Transom window fan and received a steam cleaner instead. I called Amazon support, and they told me to return it, and everything will be fine. So I returned it to Kohls. After Amazon processed my return, they issued a refund. I thought that was the end of it. But, after two months, Amazon charged me again because they havent received a FAN back. How am I supposed to return an item Ive never received? This is an ongoing issue that is not relevant to the Vornado fan. So It doesnt affect my rating.
