I bought the router because my mother in law needed a solid router. I figured I get this one for myself and hand off my RT-AC3100 which is very good. I really like Asus routers because of the rich feature sets and security. I bought this one a little skeptical of the past reviews. I thought it had been long enough that firmware from ASUS and Merlin may make this router ok by now. NOPE! I hooked up the router, set up the settings and made sure the firmware was up to date and changed the frame tables to be more compatible. Devices immediate would fall off or get disconnected. Rebooting did no good. Most devices would go to 2.4 ghz and not 5ghz even when smart connect was turned off. Buffering issues on Apple TV started to happen and everyone in the house was saying what was wrong with Wi-Fi. So I put back the at-ac3100 and all is back to normal. I guess I should have listened to the reviews and just wait another year or so until the device is up to spec.

Sweet spot of price and features with great wireless range. We are absolutely maxing out our fiber connection from the 2.5 gigabit WAN port, and the 5ghz WiFi reaches every corner of our very walled-in condo with speeds reliably around 400-500 megabits. I don’t have any 6E devices, yet, to test the WiFi 6E, but I plan on ordering an ASUS PCI-E adapter, soon. Setting up the router was easy – I plugged in the CAT6 cable and it automatically detected our ISP’s DHCP settings and walked me through setting up the WiFi networks breezily. Couldn’t be more pleased to have chosen the ASUS RT-AXE7800.

I purchased this router as an upgrade to my RT-AC66U which I’ve owned for many year. Unfortunately it stopped outputting WiFi signal after less than 30 days of ownership. I contacted ASUS immediately to try and troubleshoot. No luck, they gave me a ticket number and said their tier two admins with contact me within 24hours. After 3 days I decided I’d be better off just retuning it since I was still within my return window.

Handles 30+ devices nicely, no congestions and no disconnects. The garage openers historically used to have weak signals but not with this router. Web GUI and IOS APP are an amazing way to quickly configure the router.

I have had this router for over a year and it has been nothing but constant problems. It will work perfectly fine for an undetermined amount of time and then either the 2.4GHz or the 5GHz band and sometimes both of them will just stop broadcasting. The only way I can get them broadcasting again is to factory reset the router and set it all up again or restore it from backup after the reset. I have tried multiple versions of firmware and it happens on all of them. It even happens in AP mode when the routers only job is to broadcast wireless and nothing else is configured. There is no set timeframe for when it happens either, I have had it go a month+ with no issue, I have had it happen multiple times in one day and everything in between. I have found other online that have the same issue but no one seems to have a viable long term solution. Normally I love ASUS and have several of their products but this one is a flop and not worth the investment. Sadly I will never see the $350 I shelled out for this thing again and have finally resigned to buying something else. Now that I am working from home I can no longer stand the constant loss of internet. ASUS should refund everyone that has ever purchased one of these.

I replaced a router that was supposed to be top end, but it never really made me happy. I had to constantly reboot it, it seemed like if we had more than two or three devices online at once there was no power. Speed tests going into the router were great, but coming out were terrible. This was pricey, but SOOO worth it! I’ve been using it a couple of weeks so far and I’m thrilled. No slow downs, great speed times constantly, just an all round great piece of hardware. This is what Id been hoping to get with my last one (which was still $250+). This thing is great. I can’t make a claim to their customer service, but I gave them 5 anyways because this thing deserves a solid 5 stars.

I really like the app on my phone. Can see what signal strength is one each device. Bright LEDs.

    Greater than one week

There is nothing to dislike on this unit. I have a 4300sq foot house and the unit is all the way on one side of the house and it broadcast strongly to the opposite side of the house. Wirelessly it is super fast, the units GUI is so easy to use also.

The interface is very similar to all the ASUS routers I have owned but with many more features if you want them. Simple to setup. Saw more consistent above 1Gb Network speeds transferring files over my last older AC router.

My new router would not connect to the internet, however, a quick call to customer service and they were able to talk me through the troubleshooting steps. Love my new WIFI router
