My home is 2200 square feet and the network has more than 50 clients including 5 laptops, 2 iPads, 2 iPhones, 8 HD IP Cameras, 6 Roku Streaming devices, 6 Google Home devices, and the rest being smart IoT devices including appliances, smart plugs, and such. There are 11 wired, around 25 (2.4 Ghz), and 15 (5 Ghz) and the router is setting in the middle of my home. I do not use the router for gaming, mostly general use and streaming.

As a stand alone main router this works well. As a Aimesh dual set up it barley works. I spent an entire day adjusting settings and researching tweaks and cannot get anywhere close to the throughput Im getting on my main router. Overall Im happy with the product, Ive seen 0 drops or issues and the setup is simple. Hopefully Aimesh will advance to better performance in the future.

Needed more than 4 LAN outputs so we got this. We thought an expensive router would solve our problems but it only helped us find out what they were. i.e. Windows 10 FIREWALL! Disable and WOW, speeds up to what were paying for. We tried EVERYTHING and wasted many many hours until we discovered the firewall speed issue. This router has hardware firewall I believe (?) So were not worried.

10/17/22: Updated to 5 stars. Original firmware this router came with was 3.0.0.4.386.41700 which was frustrating dropping the internet connection daily (DHCP WAN issue). Upgraded to firmware 3.0.0.4.388.20518 and its been stable so far! Will post updates as I have more time to test it thoroughly. The addition of VPN fusion support is a win too! I did not use the web interface or app to update the firmware automatically. Downloaded the firmware from Asus website. Reset the router to factory defaults. Plugged in a PC via ethernet cable then updated firmware. Reset the router to factory defaults again, disabled Smart Connect/band steering, then manually configured the router to account for older devices on my network (up to MCS 9 256 QAM for 2.4 Ghz and left 5 Ghz on Nitro/1024 QAM). Im playing things a bit safe with those settings but your mileage may vary depending on the devices on your network.

For over 2 years, Ive been a WiFi router beta tester and customer of Welink. As a service to Welink and because I have many WiFi devices in my home (currently 82 thanks to Amazon), Ive tested EVERY major brand router and a number of no names. Welink started me out with 3 TP-Link Deco M5. They were OK but had constant overheating issues so I upgraded to Deco M9. Better but still not perfect.
