> 3 dayThis wifi router A) Starts an unsecured wifi network on power up, and B) did not require physical access to the router to configure it. I might just be old-fashioned or whatever but this seems like a really big lapse in security that places a lot of faith on the software and hardware running on the router and the software and hardware running on connected computers. Faith that would really be unnecessary if the router just came with a secure network on startup and a custom sticker on it that says, hi, this secure wifi networks default password is [randomized string exclusive to this router]

Greater than one weekInconsistent quality and signal drops. After reading multiple reviews of people saying signal drops out I still went and bought the router to try it out Im a fan of Asus motherboards and computer products had the router for one week just in the first week signal dropped out on me six different times this is not the quality you should get with paying $350 for a router. Ended up returning it and getting a Netgear x8 ax router no issues whatsoever with signal dropout. Plus Netgear updates the firmware almost monthly whenever they find an issue and they fix it immediately as soon as only updates their firmware every four to six months Netgear stays on top of the software infrastructure and takes more feedback from customers and puts it into the firmware.

> 3 dayThis hardware rocks! I researched WiFi 6 boxes (IT manager) since I wanted a box that would grow with the latest standards going forward. I am using it in access point mode with a Bit Defender Box 2 and it is flawless! I upgraded my much older Asus device since I cut the cord with Comcast. It has been running for two weeks now and has been flawless. I live in a highly-populated metro area now with lots of RF and this hardware is solid. My WAN link is 500 Mbps (I am only using a fraction of this) and all of the video on my Sony OLED TVs via Playstation Vue is AWESOME! I can have three 4K video streams running simultaneously and this box doesnt break a sweat. True I am not gaming, but RAM and CPU usage is 45% and 1%, respectively. It is a worthwhile technology investment given its performance and WiFi 6 future-proofing. For the record, my personal coverage area is only 1400 sq. ft., but this hardware will cover much, much more. Congrats on a job well done, Asus! I highly recommend this box!

> 3 dayI bought this router in July 2020. It worked fine until last week when the Wi-fi signal disappeared. The ethernet connection to my computer still worked but there was no Wi-fi signal. I did not contact tech support because the warranty only applied for 90 days. After reading how many other purchasers had a similar problem, I tried re-installing the factory defaults. The Wi-fi signal returned but only for one day. In short, there is something unreliable about the circuitry. I decided to buy an older, cheaper model instead and just write this off as a bad purchase. I wont touch Asus products again anytime soon.

21-04-2025After going through many devices to try and find the right setup this is it. Dual ASUS RT-AX88U in an AiMesh setup. Fast, highly configurable, stable (so far). Running it off FiOS gigabit. Can easily max out the connection. Wireless in a 3600sq foot house with two of these if close to the routers can get 800Mbit+ both directions. Laptops its roughly 75MB/sec (around 600Mbit) file transfers. Phones at a distance 250-400Mbit. More than sufficient with stupid low ping times (under 10ms wireless).

> 3 dayNo problems with ≈30 IOT devices (2 months in). Good coverage & speeds (I have 200mbps in an apartment complex and have no real problems achieving those speeds). The one thing that is kind of odd, since I use the IFTTT integration, is that the router doesn’t store a list of all the devices that have ever connected — only currently connected devices, which even my DSL router from the early 2000’s did - kind of an odd choice in my opinion. So if you want to set up an IFTTT application, you need to make sure that device is connected to the network before you can select it.

> 3 dayIts a known issue with heat and the wifi on this particular unit, this is now my 2nd one in 2 years. Overheating the 2.4ghz section killed it about a year ago, so this time Ive installed a couple of small 5vdc fans on the top of the unit (fans are now powered by its usb port on the back). Seems to be stable for temps but not taking any chances at this point and have turned the power down to power saving on 2.4 and balanced on 5ghz.
