Once you get started it doesnt take any time at all to get the job done even for the skeptical. Tried to use store bought tools to fix and they would not fit to do the job. This set is just what you need. It has the length and size to do the job the first time. Yes it is a little pricey but it does the job fast and easy. The sleeves are not thin and flimsy, I feel like these will stay in place a long time. Had to replace store bought sleeve that had fallen through when spark plug popped.

I’ll give the CalVan Spark Plug Thread Repair Kit five stars all day, I didn’t have to remove the heads. I have a 2006 F150 XLT with a 4.6 engine, has 100,000 miles on it. I was 25 miles from home when #3 spark plug blew out. Disconnected the fuel injector and stayed off the freeways going home. Three miles from home the #2 spark plug blew out, bad day. I saw the CalVan kit on YouTube. Amazon shipped it to me in two days. Didnt have any problems drilling and tapping. I had to hold the insert with pliers to screw the spark plug in to it, threads were very rough. Then I couldn’t get the insert to thread into the head, I cross threaded one of the inserts and had to use an easyout to get it back out. So, I took an old lawn mower head, drilled and tapped it and the insert wouldn’t thread into it either. I used a sparkplug thread chaser to cleanup the inside of the insert and picked up a 3/4 -16 thread chaser to clean up the outside of the insert, it took off a lot of metal. Now it works just like on YouTube. The intake manifold won’t let the guide drop in the #4 spark plug well, had to grind a groove in the guide to do the #4 plug. I bought the truck new and babied it all it’s life and it’s still blowing spark plugs. I live in California, I can get the CalVan Kit, but they can’t ship the individual inserts (prop 65 or something like that), so I had to pick up another kit, I needed another insert to replace the one I cross threaded and a guide for the one I had grinded the groove in. I ran the thread chasers over the inserts from the new kit and everything is good, no rethreading. I installed inserts in all eight cylinders.

I cant say enough about this kit, when they say foolproof they meant it. I followed there instructions to the letter and the Expedition I fixed is running like a top. I ended up putting in 3 inserts, the plug that blew out while I was driving another spark plug that had been repaired with one of those $40 quick fixes that was also on its way to blowing out again. and when I took pictures of all 8 spark plug openings in the head I found a very distinct blistering around the spark plug seat with both bad plugs and a 3rd that just hadnt failed yet. You must have a Boroscope for this job and theyre cheap less than $20

Easy to use seem to be great value

Product came in as seen container neatly packed. But once unboxed the reemer tool and threader had been used. Cutting bit was dull and would not cut into aluminum head.

Would give this a 5 but the air hose connection did not fit my quick disconnect.

Used this on my 03 5.4. Worked like a dream. Well made and engineered. You pay a little more but its definitely worth it since you get a heavy duty insert for every plug (8).

This is SO easy to use and if you follow the instructions to the letter, man does it save you thousands both in time and labor. After I did my repairs I have now put on at least 3 thousand miles on the truck and NO ISSUES. I highly recommend this for the DIYer. Heck, the kit paid for itself a few friends of mine ended up with the same issues and paid me to fix it for them. By the time they paid me, I could easily purchase this kit 3 times over. So do I recommend this product YES would i purchase it again YES.
