Much better than the cheap repair kits from the auto parts stores. I just wish price was not so high but better and cheaper than replacement heads or going to machine shop to fix the heads

Worked great no problems

This kit was easy to use and works great. I had my 03 F150 back on the road in a couple of days. I gave it a little extra time to set up after instal just to be safe. I am very happy with the outcome and would recommend the kit to anyone that is comfortable doing this type of repair.

Funny as it may sound, I was actually awarded a medal during my time in the Navy for drilling and tapping holes. That is no lie, though we all know it proves nothing except that I may have tapped a hole or two in my life. Long story short, THIS TAP WILL BREAK with torque being applied by a life-long mechanic holding a stubby ratchet made by the most reputable tool sales company in the country. Proper tapping technique WILL NOT MATTER. Then youll have to pull the head on your F150 and extract said tap with nothing but a couple of picks supplied by the aforementioned quality tool manufacturer. Then Cal-Van will offer to sell you a replacement tap for $55 and a week out on delivery so you can complete the hole. Whatever you do, dont use an air ratchet to tap the hole as they so kindly suggest. If yer not no dumm dude, look elsewhere and buy a different kit. Since this review is meant to be informative, the size of the tap in this kit is 3/4 -16, NF. I assume youll need that information sooner or later.

It worked pretty good with minimal disassembly. Has blown out yet. I did have an issue with the connector on the valve to verify the valves were closed but I modified it to make it work.

After doing research online, it seemed like this is the best kit to get if you want a permanent fix but don’t want to spend $600 on a certain other kit. Overall, this repair kit is great with one annoyance. As a few other reviews mentioned, the included air fitting is an irregular size and thread, so it cannot be swapped out to a standard 1/4” male NPT, and would not connect to my 1/4” female NPT on my air line. I wound up taking a scrap piece of high pressure fuel hose, shoving it over the end of the kit-air fitting (with a hose clamp), and putting a standard male NPT fitting on the other end. This adapted it to my compressor hose, and when unthreaded from the valve block, will fit in the case. Aside from that, the inserts, reamer, and tap all seem high quality and did a great job getting the cylinder head ready to accept the new insert. I used red Loctite instead of JB weld, and used Tap Magic on the reamer instead of grease. Time will tell how these hold up, but overall, very impressed with this kit.
