Decimator MD-HX HDMI and SDI Cross Converter with Scaling & Frame Rate Conversion

Does what I need.

I purchased two and used one right away and it worked great. Then I used the second one and it had two bad outputs. I couldn’t return it because it was out of the 90 day window. Lesson learned. For that I have it a poor rating.

Multifunctional tool I find more and more uses for in the studio. Rescaling plus image flip and format conversion make this a very valuable tool. I use it to change HDMI 1080p to HDSDI 1080i... flip images for my teleprompter monitor... and squeeze 16x9 images into older 4x3 monitors with flexibility on the framing. I will say I sometimes have trouble getting it to do what I want via navigating the menu on the device. Plugging it in and using the software to configure really helped me understand the settings.

Does not take much energy and works as expected

Its ability to up and down sample various video resolutions and loop through with SDI and HDMI makes this a must-have for any AV video signal distribution jobs.

Limited to digital video, but I have stopped renting Folsom Image Pros.

It does just what it says and all in a nice compact format. I dont know how other manufacturers get away with charging many times the price of the Decimator to do the same thing, but this little box seems to have the most bang for the buck. I really like the ability to change settings via the OSX app, too.

Expensive, but they WORK.
