Decimator MD-HX HDMI and SDI Cross Converter with Scaling & Frame Rate Conversion

Greater than one weekI love this thing. Its the signal distribution version of gaff tape, fixes just about anything with enough creative engineering. One box that can function as an SDI to HDMI/DVI convertor, a HDMI/DVI to SDI Convertor, a Scaler, or an SDI DA and unlike a lot of competing products there are no dip switches or jumpers to screw with. Everything is easily accessible through the on board menu system or the USB control panel via an attached computer. Plus its a lot less expensive than any one of the three AJA boxes this can replace let alone the cost of all them. Ive had this thing running in the ballpark of a thousand hours on site now and Ive had zero issues with it.

> 3 dayI have a variety of Decimator, as well as Blackmagic, AJA, Kramer, Datavideo and Roland converters and distribution amplifiers. They all do what they state they will do. However, as time passes the Decimator units have revealed built-in product obsolescence. The Decimator LCD display works well when new. But, over time, the LCD display will become difficult to read. A known issue that Decimator will not acknowledge or resolve. The solution is an easy two solder points and ribbon cable swap - if you could get a replacement display module (a $15 part on the open market), which Decimator will not sell. From now on Ill be sticking with other manufacturers who dont design in product failure. Oh, wait... what was I thinking... when the LCD display is all but useless you can always bring a laptop with you to make adjustments! ;-)

Greater than one weekYes, it accepts that input but outputs 59.9 Frames which my downstream equipment will not accept. Only choice from here is the Amazon to feed all your HDMI Teleprompter Screens: Hall Research SC-HD-2B 4K/60Hz HDMI Scaler with Audio Embed/Extract & Image Flip Capability @ https://www.amazon.com/Hall-Research-SC-HD-2B-Extract-Capability/dp/B07XKFBJDX/ref=pd_rhf_ee_p_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=XKQPMM8W6PYM180E3GG7

> 3 dayI wish (and i know this isnt the item for it) it had a multi-view. then it would solve all my needs and be the only thing i need in my Oh-Sh*t go bag. I didnt take a star oiff for that since thats a wish list and isnt what this item is for. I just wish it had an option for battery instead of needed a wall slug.

Greater than one weekThis thing should be in any professional video persons arsenal. It is worth every penny in my opinion. It can solve so many problems, from source and destination resolution mismatch, to boosting a signal from my experience, not to mention converting sdi to HDMI and vice versa.

23-11-2024Multifunctional tool I find more and more uses for in the studio. Rescaling plus image flip and format conversion make this a very valuable tool. I use it to change HDMI 1080p to HDSDI 1080i... flip images for my teleprompter monitor... and squeeze 16x9 images into older 4x3 monitors with flexibility on the framing. I will say I sometimes have trouble getting it to do what I want via navigating the menu on the device. Plugging it in and using the software to configure really helped me understand the settings.

Greater than one weekThis is just a fantastic and versatile product. I recommend using the USB interface rather than trying to use the little LCD display on the unit, especially of you are a first timer to the product. That means you will need to go to the Decimator web site to get the control software but the software is free and well worth the effort. Once it is configured it just does what it is supposed to do.
